I found out today that the military hospital in South Korea doesn't do lap-band only bypass. :crying: I am disappointed but not devastated. I'm going to keep trying on my own to loose the weight while we are here and if nothing happens get it when we move again. So hopefully I'll either by slimmer or joining you all in two years.

This question is for those that have had at least one fill. Do you still feel hungry after you've eaten to restriction? I know it may sound silly but I am terrified of being hungry.

Applesauce is very easy to make, just cut up the apples and cook. Also when I lived in Turkey there was oatmeal (yulaf ezmesi) available but you have to boil it awhile (no instant). Salsa is also easy to make just google up some recipes. Any kind of cooking in Turkey calls for creativity if you are not used to Turkish grocery stores!

Which is okay, huge change of course but we are together as a family and that is what matters. 6 years in military more than 3 years apart.

Great post. I am currently tricare standard due to being non-command sponsored in Korea. We are waiting for our sponsorship to be confirmed and we will then put back on prime. I saw my PCM for about 2 minutes and he put in a surgery consult immediately. That is scheduled for the 24th of April. I think being here may actually give me some advantage what with the use of on post hospitals and the like. I don't think I'll have any problems being approved, BMI 44, hypothyroidism co-mord, just worried that they might not do lap-band here as PCM only knew that they do bariariatric surgery but not the specifics.

Another in the not telling camp here. My husband knows and that is it. When my children are older I will tell them. Thankfully, I'm on a whole different continent from everyone I know and will be for nearly two more years. By then I hope to be at my goal weight and certainly my eating will have normalized.

That was easy. PCM put the request for surgery consult in without a blink. Calling on Monday to get the appointment. I was so nervous, but the only problem is he doesn't know if they do lap band at our hospital. I hope so. If not at least I'll be in the system for when they start or when we move to our next duty station.

As you can probably tell from my user name I don't want to give out too much information about myself. I plan to tell only my husband about the road I'm on (at least for now) but I need some support from people who understand. Briefly. January '08 looked into lap-band and decided to give myself a year too loose weight on my own. Bought treadmill and walked faithfully everyday for six months. No weight loss. January '09 hit my highest weight ever at 250. I'm 5'4". I was 175 pounds after my first child was born and would be very very happy to be and maintain that weight again. February '09 moved to Korea to be with my husband who is in the US Army. April 10 '09 will be my first appointment to discuss weight lose surgery with my PCM. I'm very nervous because I am currently Tricare Standard.
