  1. It is extremely severe Plantar Fasciitis in both of my feet and then I developed Tarsal Tunnel in the right one, which has been the worst anyway. I am seeing my podiatrist again next week and am going to see if he will write me a letter in support of this explaining that there are no other options and that loosing the weight is my only thing that will help my feet. I am pretty confident he will. I am not sure about using a bike. Water exercise is all he has approved me for. Even going that route I would need to join a gym and not sure that is an option right now.
  2. I have already had every treatment I can have for my feet. I have had over the max number of cortisone shots. They did provide relief for a while but this has been ongoing for 6 years. I can't have any more cortisone. I have had 3 surgeries and there are no more options. I am reading more now and am afraid that maybe this won't be considered a comorbitity.
  3. I have Aetna. From what I am reading (this is a great site!) I will be doing a 3-6 mo. change of habits thing. I am at 38 BMI but am almost completely disabled at this point by severe foot pain and problems that the weight contributes to. I have had all the surgeries on my feet they can do and the only hope I have left is to lose the weight and keep it off. I am hoping that is enough of a co-morbity to qualify me! So I am pretty limited on exercise. I can do upper body stuff while sitting down. I can't walk--physically I just can't at this point without causing further damage to my feet. Certainly I hope as the weight comes off I will be able to. What will I do to meet the exercise criteria? I am not able to join a health club with a pool and swimming is all my dr. has approved for me to do.
  4. Thanks for the answers! That explains why I haven't found anything that said it was an out patient or overnight.
  5. I have 2 daughters. I have tried very hard to raise them without the food issues that I have and instill healthy eating habits and positive body image in them. So far things are good, they are both normal eaters and at a very average weight. My oldest is 13 so body image is certainly becoming a big deal, but she has a body I would kill for! I don't think I want them to know about this surgery. I want to keep this between myself, husband and some very close friends for now. My girls love to talk and don't often remember what they have been asked not to repeat! And they would worry quite a bit about me. They know that I have been on "diets" and dread it when I do! I am thinking that I will just tell them I am having some tests done in the hospital--like when I have had colonoscopies. I have digestive issues and a sensitive stomach that has been getting worse so they would most likely believe me. And since I have been on other crazy diet plans I don't think they would question the liquid diet too much! I don't like to lie to my kids, but also am also worried about how this will affect their overall food/weight outlook. What have you told your kids, and how has your surgery affected them?
  6. From what I have read my insurance requires either the 6 mo. medically supervised diet OR a 3 mo. Behavior Modification Program. Obviously to me the sooner the better! What is a 3 mo. Behavior Mod program? What is involved in it?
  7. I am just beginning to research this and have read tons and tons of stuff but the one thing I haven't found the answer to is if the Lap Band surgery is done as an outpatient or if you have to stay over in the hospital? Does it depend on your dr and/or your insurance? Thanks!
