  1. I would love to hear how its going... I have been approved waiting on my husbands approval and we are looking forward to working together on this! Thanks!
  2. I have Anthem BC of AZ, my company home office is in CA and I was approved in 7 days with no 6 month diet... But my husband has been waiting since April 29th to hear if he is approved or not... our paper work was sent in within days of each other... You may want to find out if your employer specifically excludes weigh loss surgery. They can do that. With what you listed you would qualify. Good Luck!

I have a good one for you.. I got my approval letter for the lap band because it was medically necessary, but I got denied the hospital stay because it was not medically necessary... So I guess I am getting my surgery in the parking lot...
  4. My husband and I have to do ours next week and the cost per person is $1589 if we haven't hit our deductible ($2000 each) or 10% depending on the deductible situation. The place I am going agreed to take some sort of a payment and then bill my insurance since with all the stuff I have had done to prepare for the surgery is still pending in the billing department. What ever comes back I can pay later... Tjey will work with you...Just ask! Good luck to you!
  5. These are the kind of stories that are freaking me out (not banded yet until 6-18-09) . How can anyone possible eat the same about of food pre surgery after getting banded. Even without a fill there is no way a Quarter pounder and fries is going to fit in that small pouch. And if it can, why the heck do the surgery... Someone please explain to me how this is humanly possible. NOT JUDGING ANYONE!!!! I just want to know how to not have this problem. I read people saying they are still hungry but not eating the same amount of food. I have to lose 200lbs so you know I can put away some food! Thanks
  6. Thanks for the input:tongue: I can't wait to get this started and on the same token I am so afraid that this is going to consume my life. I read all the stuff and it seems like every bite of food is a risk! I would just assume stick to stuff the texture of baby food :crying:. I know this is going to be great, I am going to be fantastic at it... I just can't wait to get to the point of knowing what works for me and what doesn't. The way everyone makes food getting stuck sound, just scares the crap out of me:eek:. i just picture a lunch meeting and something flying out of my mouth that got stuck! If you have any more words of wisdome, please feel free to share!
  7. How do you really feel? I am just curious of how much the eating thing changes after a year or longer. Do things still get stuck as easily? What are the biggest changes you notice from the beginning of the journey and a year or more later. Not having a band yet (but will on June 18th!) It seems like there is so much thought about what you eat. Does it get easier? Do you get a rountine down and just eat the same thing all the time out of ease or fear? I would like to hear some opionions from some lap band pros! Thanks :crying:
  8. Still waiting on them... How are you? How did everything go?
  9. It's official...I got my approval letter today and I am scheduled for June 18th! It took 16 days to get my approval. A new journey begins!
  10. Thanks for the info... I'll take the loose skin if I can have my good old bladder back! This is crazy. Plus I have the problem of constantly being thirsty so I am drinking Water like crazy (I think type 2 diabetes is sneaking into the picture now) But I know all this stuff will get better... I find it funny that everything started falling apart just after I went to the seminar and started seeing the doc's to get approved for lap band. Prior to this I was fine. Maybe my body is trying to give the insurance company every reason possible to get this done:rolleyes2:
  11. Ok...The Power Room is for sure the place to go for the truth. I have been reading some of the threads and all I can say is WOW... So my questions are how bad is the lose skin really???? I have to loose 200 lbs and am scared at how bad it will be since I am 43 My next other problem is I have a hard time holding my pee right now...does that get better? The doc said it is the weight pushing on the bladder. Any words on this problem from anyone. Thanks!
  12. My paperwork was submitted on 4-23, I called bcbs yesterday (5-1) and I was told it was with the nurse to go over and I should know by 5-8 at the latest... I am hoping to get my band on when approved by 6-8 which is my 44th b-day. I think that will be a great present for myself!
  13. Thanks for the suggestion.. i have done a posting in the teens.
  14. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with getting banding at 18/19 with BCBS... did you have to do anything special or did it happen easily. Thanks
  15. Just curious as to how hard it was to get approved at 18/19? Thanks!
  16. Thank you so much for the info... I am so excited!!! We all just want to get this started! Good luck to you on May 7th!!!
  17. Can someone explain the "restriction" feeling to me. I don't have my band yet and this is comfusing me. It would seem that just having the band would cause the feeling of restriction. I thought the fills where done as you move along and you get used to where you are at. I thought I understood how this worked but maybe I have not gotten the correct information. I want to be fully informed as I move forward... Not judging just asking.. Thanks
  18. We didn't have to do the six month diet thing with the dr...ours is based on medically necessary and a BMI over 35 with comorbities or just above 40 and mine is 55 so I am hoping this will get me through the approval process. But you know these insurance companies, they are unpredictible. Thanks for the info and I will keep positive thoughts:thumbup:
  19. Hello, this is my first post... I am in the waiting for approval stage. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with BCBS- Anthem and the Scottsdale Bariatric Center. Me my husband and my son are all waiting on approval. I am making myself sick with worry that we will be denied... Any words of wisdome out there!
