  1. Betsy, I'm so sorry you're feeling bad. Please don't do like me and wait too long to see the doc. I don't want you to go through that pneumonia thing--it's rough. This will sound silly but don't forget chicken soup:) It always makes me feel better. I'll bring you some from La Villa if you'll give me a call (I hope you still have my number) and give me directions to your place--their's is deliciosa (sp?).
  2. Betsy, those rules sound more like Dr Spiegel's rules...Right? But that book is talking about real gastric bypass, I think, I need to re-read it. Can't wait to discuss this with everyone and how it relates to our pouch. I'm at 6 months out now, so I'm real interested in this.
  3. I've got two thoughts for you. Words that helped me when I was down. Don't beat yourself up--we are human. And just set your "reset" button and you are back on track. When I started gaining those pounds when I was sick, I started feeding the depression and made it worse, that's what makes me think I need that regular meeting to boost me up when I'm down. I think I better get that going before I throw away the success I've gotten. That's just me.
  4. Tax Day! Good, I'll need a lift. On the wide open issue...the barium showed wide open or no restriction, but Joy said I had 1.5 saline before, now I have 2.2 and I do feel it. I knew something was wrong. I gained 6 pounds since my low. I thought it was the steroid they shot me with for the pneumonia symptoms, but I guess it was also the lack of restriction and also not eating correctly. But our little cheerleader said "Don't beat yourself up about it" and that helped. I sure wish I could go to that Gem show with you--what fun.
  5. Just checking in--got a fill this morning. They said I was "completely open". Now I'm 2.2. Maybe I can make some progress now. Started back to Jazzercise yesterday, after the bout with pneumonia. When is our next "get together"?
  6. I do. And it does help me feel stronger or more stable. I just was so surprised that I have no pain when I walk. And by the way, as soon as I get in that house you are invited for a walk.
  7. I agree with Barb, lets meet again if possible. I need yall and missed this Monday--I gotta catch up! Ok Betsy, now I get your point better. You have the same dream as I do. Isn't it something--that all we want is to feel normal when eating. I sure hope we all get there. I don't want to be a 600 calorie wonder:) Sounds great about your personal trainer. I've found in the last week that if I just walk for exercise, I'm not sore and stiff. I don't need Tylenol etc. I kind of like not being in pain. But I'm still drawn to Jazzercise. I can't go back to that until next week because of the pneumonia. I'm wondering whether I should--I hate those injuries, but love to dance to the music.
  8. Hey Betsy, I'm so glad you wrote this last note. I'm sad that I haven't lost more. I think I'm back to 42 at this point. I do think I still need that fill I never got. Were yall discussing not having bread at the last meeting? I really want to eat normal and get a weight loss--but I don't know if that is possible anymore. I wish I was where you are sitting back and enjoying the experience. Did you unfill like Suzanne? By the way, don't worry about the meetings on Binz, I don't think I really want to go either. It just seemed right at the moment.
  9. By the way Betsy--congrats--I noticed you've lost even more. I'm jealous a little. But happy for you. Hope to see you girls soon.
  10. Can't make it to the meeting after all. Have a meeting with the builder--can't miss it. Sorry:( I called to make an appointment for a fill and I thought I just heard wrong when they answered with that different name. They said something about they had had to rearrange all the appointments today because someone didn't show up--I guess staff. Hmmmmmm????? Anyone want to go to Spivak's meeting tomorrow night with me? Maybe we can find something out.
  11. Betsy, what a great idea--a reset button! That emotional piece is the key. You gave me hope for a new day. Thanks:) Is 5:30 too early for Cindy or Suzanne? I'm fine for 5:30 or 6.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm behind in the conversation. When do we meet at La Villa next? I'm game for the field trip--I got so much info from the last meeting at Spivak's office, I like the idea of more idea sharing anyway, anyhow. Being sick this last week, really played havock with the diet. I feel like a failure, but I'm not giving up.
  13. You are right! We are bright. I guess we are just getting to know each other. My goal is as soon as I get well, I'm going for a fill. That's my goal. I just read that my stomach should only hold about 1/4th cup of food. I can hold way more than that. I think that's about what you ate of your enchilada Betsy:) If that much.
  14. I like the idea of someone keeping us positive and motivated--not eating our troubles away and being overcome with thoughts about how to eat when to eat etc. Like the cheerleader type you talked about at the surgicenter--someone who gives us goals etc. I think a therapist for the meeting--meets my needs. Lets see what the others think.
  15. My thought is since we all agree it's a mind/emotional issue, I vote for a psychologist type who understands eating disorders rather than a dietition/nutritionist. But Barb's been in this longer and has much more experience, so her opinion is important to me.
  16. I've heard Dr Phil say that to break a habit you substitute that habit with another. Let's make ours something healthy--like talking to support friends or exercise.
  17. Well, exercise is out for 2 weeks. I just got back from the doc and I have pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis. Just a little sickly bandster:) I thought maybe I was getting better today, but felt feverish again and decided to give up and see a doc. I haven't had injections in so long I forgot how fun:( that was. My goal now is to be completely well by next meeting. We are supposed to go to a wedding Saturday in Fort Worth--I don't know now. I do know low carbs works faster--it's just boring and seems more like harsh dieting. But for breaking a plateau, I say anything that works. Is everyone doing protein drinks for breakfast? I thought that's what was said last night at the meeting.
  18. What a good group we've got going now! I felt real hunger and had about 4 bites of chicken salad (HEB made in container type) and that was it. I'm still thinking I might need a fill. 5:30 is fine for me.
  19. 5:30 OR 6 OK either way for me. Enjoyed tonight! --I gotta ask...it's about 8:30pm anybody else a little hungry?
  20. Betsy, don't fade away:) I plan on being there. I need support--of those 4.5 pounds I lost...I found 2:(
  21. Words of Wisdom??? I wish. I was stuck on 40 pounds for quite awhile. I'm doing Healthy Choice dinners(the one's with desert are yummy to me. After the meeting I went to more veg's/salads and protein and still Healthy Choice meals. I have an egg for breadfast or oatmeal. I try really hard not to snack and do better than before, but still slip some days. I hope my mish mash plan keeps working.
  22. Betsy, Have you talked to Spivaks office or him about this issue? Just wondering if they could be of help. If I go to the meeting tonight (not wanting to make that drive alone--but still might) I could ask if there is any experience with pouch dilation. When do you get back from KC? Will miss you--hope you will have your computer:) so you'll still be posting. I would like to know if I've lost according to their scale--mine says 4.5 pounds down!
  23. Wow Betsy! how amazing. That is something I never thought of happening. I'm sure glad to know it's not as serious as you thought and it has a cure. Glad you shared that experience.
  24. No problem Betsy. Maybe I'll be brave and go it alone. YIKES! Next time will be fine.
  25. Betsy, Isn't it the truth. The more you hear the more you learn, then filter down to what works for you. Do you feel up to the Tuesday Spivak meeting? Even though the last one got sort of thrown together because the speaker didn't show--I must admit I got a lot from it. Maybe we'll find out at the next one that it's best that the speaker doesn't show:) I'm so with you on the snacking and emotional/bored eating. We need to keep a list to remind us of other things to do--fun things, good things. Most times I just don't think--eating is just so easy and such a engrained habit. One time when I was dieting and making good progress, I had a list at my desk that I would quickly look at and remember what to do--that sounds so dumb--but it worked. I really think our conversation coming and going to the meeting was the best for me--even if I needed your help getting out of my own neighborhood:)
