Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?
Ok well sleep is Good.. this means you need it and is probably the aneasthetic wearing off.. True everyone reacts differently, its hard when you are not well and on your own. Hope you are feeling a little more refreshed, Peppermint tea s good for indigestion. Alka Zeltzer for PAIN is marvellous because of the Bi Carb in it... I use these for pain relief, and to settle an upset tummy as they are effervecsent. dissolvable before hand.. so the GUT does not have to do it. Will get better keep reading the POSTS it gives you an idea on how to deal with it... My turn on Friday all the very Best!!! Dawn xx:huh2:

Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?
Are you at Home now? where is your Pain is probably COLIC (wind).. in the shoulder area, try to keep moving it will reduce and get better!.Try some Magnesium and Peppermint which will ease the GUT... You should have someone available you can speak to from the Hospital.. Where are you from .. UK or US ? Apparently the surgeons blow AIR into the Diaphram to allow more space to do the Op internally. Make sure you take your Pain killers every 4 Hours and drinks fluids every Half hour or suck Ice... Dawn xx:sad:

Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
Well as its Glue it is more than likely it's semipermeable and more Water friendly than Sutures or Staples.. However from experience with dressing wounds I would vouch to keep the wound as dry as possible this would help the healing process and be subject less infections.

Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
Hi John I guess it makes sense to do it all in one foul swoop... Cosmetic surgery would only be done under certain circumstances here in the Uk as a Gastic Band is done mainly for that puropose.. Gallbladder comes under major Surgery under the NHS. Best of Luck to You ..you will be feeling so much better after all that! Wounds will be fine yep keep them Dry:thumbup:... Dawnx

Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
Yes You can do a sort of patch Test first... Hmmmmmm I would be very suprised if the Doc does a Cholesystectomy ( Gallbladder Op )at the same time ... but they may do things differently in the USA as you are having an Op anyway.. HERE in the Uk they wouldn't do that... Good Luck to You.. Will be a Low Fat Diet for you then !!! Cheers Dawnx:thumbup:

Its NOT about being Weak! Its about taking responsibility for yourself and giving you your Life back... People Sadly are Judgemental by Nature and will Judge you.. Do it for You! Your Health and Wellbeing! Its private unless you want the World to know as News Travels Fast! Trust me Keep it Quiet people are GOSSIPS and will Judge you Whatever your reasons for doing it... Most of Us have A slow Metabolism, I have!! and an Occupational Injury to my Lower back and RT Knee this weight Loss Journey can only be a Positive thing... Dont worry what others think! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
The Glue is basically used to hold the wound edges together so they start heal and knit without too much scarring.. the glue will just peel off by its self.. you must keep the wound Dry for as long as possible for Best results... Staples are removed with a Staple clip remover and can be a little uncomfortable but it doesnot Hurt. I have removed Many in my time as a Nurse...

Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
Dont worry about it ask your surgeon see what he suggests you can always give the steristrips a try providing the wound is a smaller one, I understand there are 5 wounds in all, take a look at some of the Pictures people have put online, from experience with patients they are normally ok, any probs they just peel off and possibly could be Hypo allergenic.. the glue however can be a bit "Iffy" Good Luck!
-
Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
Steristrips are tiny pieces of adhesive strips that are placed across a wound in the opposite direction to hold the sides of the wound together.. 7/10 days the wound should if kept covered and Dry heal up very nicely.. Obviously if you are allergic to adhesivie, Elastoplast or similar its not for you... Staples Sutures are the only alternative Options.. But as already mentioned tend to leave a little more scarring.
-
Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
I would say then in your case SUTURES but the wounds will not heal as well as steristrips/glue, the wounds are a lot less noticeable when healed just a straight line. Sutures will leave more of a Scar, unless they use nylon continuous.. but these these tend to be used on larger gaping wounds ie Hysterectomy. Hope this Helps:redface:

I agree if the Band if used for Medical Reasons can only be a Positive thing for anyone! Why do we feel obliged to memtion it to everyone? Enjoy the attention when people see you are Losing as they surely will. I will be saying I am on the Lighter Life if asked / Low Carb which is not a lie as the Band is only a Tool to makr it more possible and permanent. Its Your choice... I have an Occupational Injury to the Lower Back, and a Weak Rt Knee. High Blood Pressure, Depression etc.. These fulfil the Criteria... So for me it is the best present I could give mysel! Be Positive! Add I also think that Other People always want you to FAIL as this makes them feel better! just a bit of Psychology... The main thing is that you are doing it for yourself, it will improve your Quality of Life and If your Family Love you they Should Support you all the way! I would keep it to yourself....

So what happens if you pop a port stitch?
Well you have had a operation whether its keyhole or not, you obviously have been doing too much strenuous activity and pulled inside... you must rest and not lift anything and take regular painkillers 4 hourly..1 week is early days too much too soon take it easy!:rolleyes2:
-
Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
My ADVICE is to keep the wounds as dry as possible and then after a week the strips will probably come off as long as the wound is dry.. Steristrips can be removed, and wounds left open if clothing rubs just cover with cotton adherent dressing.. otherwise any infection they would be better off having a fresh dressing applied daily plus antibiotocs or alternate days and a visit to the Nurse if not already doing so.....:rolleyes2:
-
Stitches/Staples/Skin Glue
I would be very suprised if they used staples as its in an area that is obviusly important to a woman.. its not like being on a leg is it! I would question this at pre op Clerkrig// From experience Glue and Steristrips are the Most common form that is being used to day and is cosmetically much more acceptable.. Even Sutures (Stitches are a bit Old Hat!):rolleyes2:
