acopas reacted to KimA-GA in Celebrating 100 Pre-Op!
    Greetings,
Going to Celebrate out loud today! I have lost 100 lbs from my July 2021 highest recorded weight and all in PRE op!!! 85.8 Lbs in 2022!

Damn, this has been hard. A lot of emotional and behavioral change went into this effort. A lot of re-education about nutrition and choices. A lot of forgiving myself for getting to this weight. A lot of healing. A lot of journaling. A lot of reminding myself that I am worth taking care of.

It also has been easier than I thought. Once I gained the confidence that I could, I did. Yes, I have had doctor support and taking Ryselbus helped, but mostly this is me making true and long lasting change. I am comforted by the fact that if for some reason I could not have the sleeve surgery on November 3rd, 2022, I would still loose weight and feel better and my LIFE would be better.

Everyone has this in them. Its a tough road, but we can all achieve better in our lives.

Whelp six months post op tomorrow!

I still do not have "hunger" but I find myself more snacky over the last few weeks. It is annoying. I still stay within my plan limits 98% of the time, sometimes going over my calories (within 100) but usually with still healthier Snacks and foods.
I have been eating out more because life is so crazy and hectic right now, which I need to chill there too.

We are going to Florida/Disney the first week of October so I will be forced to eat out then, which is just another reason to stop now.

Overall I really don't have any complaints. No issues, and still kicking butt.

I see my surgeon for my 6 month check up next week and I am still ahead of the predicted weight loss chart he gave me.

I am JUST NOW starting to really see my weight loss in full body pictures. Even more so since I have been wearing clothes that fit rather than huge and falling off.
Tons of friends have been commenting and sending me inspiring messages or when they see me say something. It is kind of nice that people are noticing the work I am putting in. Regardless of that, when I saw pictures of myself from the weekend I was like WHOA who is this person?!?!

Flipside, I look like a half deflated Water balloon naked. 😂😝 HAHA!

KEEP GOING PEOPLE- WE GOT THIS!

6 months and hit 100 lbs loss today since surgery and 137 total!

Alpine Punch...I tried it, grape, and I think a green apple. I could barely stand drinking them. I did just to get in the protein, but I'd never repurchase.
I liked the Premier Protein Clear drinks which have 20 grams of protein before surgery but couldn't drink them right after post-op. I still have a ton of them at home.

Just checking in; yesterday was 7 weeks post-op. When I weighed in, I'm down 32.1lbs since surgery and 75.5 pounds since I started my extended pre-op 8 weeks before surgery. It's still a struggle to get all the Protein and fluids in. I get full on about 1.2 ounces of meat; if I push to 1.5ounces, I feel terrible and/or actually get sick.
Non-scale wise, I was able to shop with my teenage daughter for back to school without my back bothering me or needing to stop for a break. I'm keeping up with my 3 year old better as well thought she's a wild child. I've bought a few clothing items and I'm down 3 pant sizes.

Are you taking any acid blockers? My doctor sends us home on them because the stomach acid can trigger ‘hunger’.

    Hi all,
Just wanted to thank you wonderful people for your support and wisdom over the last 9 months. I've lost 100lbs as of today.
My weight loss is really slowing down now but I'm so happy with where I am that anything more will just be the icing on the cake.

So I saw my surgeon today for my six month appointment.. I can't BELIEVE it's been 2 years since my surgery. My life has changed so much for the better in so many wonderful ways.
Anyway, I'm about to start maintenance. I figured I was close to finished with weight loss because it's been pretty slow for a while, and I feel good and happy with the 205 I have lost. Most of my weight was lost the first year. I have lost 42 since this time last summer, and most of that l lost in those first 6 months.
The dietitian recommended I start adding 50 to 100 calories a week of carbs or fat. I currently eat 1300 calories a day. I usually get about 100 of Protein (I had the Loop DS).
So I'm supposed to start adding gradually to get my calories as high as I can without gaining.
I'm excited but SO nervous. I know people have a 10 to 20 lb. rebound gain quite often and I really want to stay as close to my weight now as possible. I weigh 187. I'm 5'3" so that's still pretty much for height but considering I started at 393 I'm pretty happy. I wear a size medium or large which I'm thrilled with. I never cared about being skinny. I have always been a curvy person. I just wanted my health and life back, which I have! But I would like to stay under 200 pounds, so I don't have a lot of room for gaining any back.
I know I'm rambling here but I just need some encouragement from those of you who are farther along than I am.
    How was maintenance for you?

This is why researching ANY physician is important. I work in the medical field in the US and believe me, we all have doctors that we wouldn’t see due to their surgical outcomes.

However, this video is fear-mongering at best. 3 out of tens of thousands; that complication rate isn’t out of the norm for any surgery regardless of location. The two men also had Lap-Band procedures which are no longer performed anywhere that I’m aware of due to the complications. People in the US had the same issues. The woman had a terrible surgeon.

That chart is wonderful @acopas! Thanks for posting that. I'm not worried about it, but seeing that makes me feel even better. And my energy, strength, mood - all doing very, very well. This is just a part of the process.

Doing fine on energy. I've been back to work since 5 days post-op, keeping up with my teen and toddler just fine. I don't seem to be dehydrated even though I'm not getting much fluids.

Great job! One suggestion that I’d say is that during your treadmill time, start doing intervals. It doesn’t have to be drastic, but you’ll burn calories longer (after workout) by doing them.
You are trying to get your heart to about 70-85% of max during the interval. Not sure if your age, but for 35 y/o that’s about 130-157. When I first started my base speed and incline was 3.0mph and an incline of 3. I’d stay there for about 3 minutes and then push my speed to 3.5 and incline to 6 for 30 seconds. As I got stronger, I’d increase the time I spent at the higher speed/incline until I was at a minute.

I'm a daily weigher. I know it's not a popular, but I've always had the most success when I know I'm going to have to check-in everyday. This morning it was 397.0 - my first visit into the 3s in a long, long time. I am happy!

Awesome that you are back at it. My surgeon only allows 15-20 minute walk in the first 15 days; I'm at day 9 now, but plan on heading back to the gym next week.

Still feel it, but getting better every day, thanks. Had my first "workout" today. My aerobic class. Felt so good to sweat again, even doing only a couple of songs at half speed. Miraculous how fast the recovery time is, isn't it?

I felt pretty tender through day four. Day 5, I woke up and felt so much better. I went to work and did great. Now my only discomfort (1 week out) is just upon standing initially and when my 3 y/o or dog steps on my stomach.

I went back and forth for a year thinking about if I should have this surgery or not. I was terrified. The reality was that I wasn’t going to be able to do it alone, otherwise I would’ve done it already. I couldn’t keep living the way I was.

    Has it been easy? No.

BUT... this has been the single greatest decision I’ve ever made for myself. It’s given me back my life, and I would go through it all again in a second!
