  1. My doc says the mesh prevents a flip which none of us want...my doc has never had a single flip yet...maybe ask him why hes thinking about not doing the mesh...best of luck!
  2. If it seems like it comes on when you eat, try eating half as much at a meal for a day or two...if it goes away you'll know you need to eat less or eat slower.
  3. The thing is I am sure you are eating a lot less than before the band (we were all massively overeating or we wouldnt have been obese). For me, (an old dog in maintenance a long time) I eat about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food at each meal which can be 4 to 5 times a day. I really cant eat more than that of any food (I have no sliders) and I done eat any low cal or diet food. As I lost weight my band did loosen and I had to get fills to keep losing. My first green zone was at 6cc in a 10 cc band and took 3 fills to get there. Then I leveled off at about 180 lbs for MANY months until I figured out to go get a fill. Once I did I started losing again easily and then I plateaued at 155...I got 0.3ccs and in a couple of months went to 140.
  4. Everyone takes the risk of a complication like a leak. If you cant afford to get it replaced I am really sorry for you but Im not sure its a reason for a lawsuit unless there is some reason you think your doctor is not doing his job right.
  5. Can I ask why you didnt ask how he knew the port was the problem? Seems like the port would be the least likely place for a leak. My doc sews your port to a square of mesh fabric and then places in under the fat layer where it scars down...he has never had a flip yet. Maybe you could ask about this.I am a self payer too and afraid of any complications! I cant imagine you should have to pay for anything further since this seems to be on him!
  6. I feel full on a small meal (3/4 to 1 cup) of any food. Its like I have eaten a big meal. If I eat one or two more bites I will feel uncomfortable.
  7. I seriously could not make myself push the order button on a bunch of size 6 pants from the Gap...I know thats my size but I just thought they would arrive and never fit! So I went to the Gap and took every pair of size 6s (each type of cut or fit or style) in the dressing room and of course they all fit. I hurried home to order the petites I needed before my belief in the 6 evaporated...weird! Today I tried on a size small blazer at Bass and it fit perfect. I decided to get another one in a different color and it almost killed me to buy the small without trying it on! I tried it on as soon as I got home!
  8. Go get a fill even if you have to pay ( a different doc)...its not supposed to be that hard! A lot of docs are very cheap with the fills because they make money off of them...
  9. I am wondering what made it slip...did you have to vomit a lot? And was it sewed down when you had your band placed?
  10. Fantastic...that is a huge accomplishment!!! What will be your reward other than the high school jeans?? A lot of us have bought Pandora type bracelets (mine is actually Chamilia, check out their website!) with each bead representing 10 pounds...there are much less expensive ones everywhere these days Kohls, the craft stores etc! Keep on!
  11. They wont cancel your surgery. Its just a cold....
  12. You should be able to get back on trck with mushies...after that chew your food to the point where it would be if it has been in a blender and take long breaks between bites so you know it is going down and sitting well.
  13. PS I also have some crazy fluctuations I will probably never understand! But I am in maintenance now and in a size 6.
  14. I am banded 2.5 years and I still have a protein shake every morning because I am too tight for food...it is looser at night and I have to have some willpower so I wouldnt want it any looser...The protein shake starts my day with 30 grams for 160 calories so I think its all good! (Premier Protein from Costco)
  15. There are 3 things to worry about if you are too tight; 1. reflux or heartburn which can damage your esophagus in a vey bad way. 2.If you dont get enough fluid in every single day well, you can die! 3. Protein is critical to long term nutrition. If you can have liquids and avoid all three of the above you will lose weight quick and your band will loosen as you do.But idf you are having reflux that cant be controlled with meds or not getting enough water or protein you have to get an unfill.
  16. Wow! That should really get you going! It was three fills for me to get to 6cc in a 10cc band and then the weight really started to come off!
  17. Seems like you need an allergy test for the silicone...
  18. I can and do eat everything so the times I ate those last suppers before being banded were not needed...you will be able to eat one slider or maybe a half slice of pizza no problem...
  19. Agree...as soon as you feel that shortness of breath or need the yawn/sigh...you are done eating. Also you should never work out within an hour of a meal and maybe longer now that you are banded because it takes longer for food to move on.
  20. I dont mean to be mean but tough it out it will not kill you. I am assuming you are obese as we all were at the beginning...you will not starve.
  21. At least call and describe your symptoms! I got some hard fills and was able to ride them out, lose weight quickly, and then it loosened up. But after a day or two you MUST be getting all the water and protein (liquid is ok) you need every day!
  22. This is the best thing I ever did for myself...good luck!
  23. You ARE losing weight its just not fast enough for you! Thats understandable and we all feel that way. Hang in there! I have 8cc in a 10cc band and that keeps me in easy maintenance..I lost my last 15 pounds after getting a 0.3 cc fill if you can believe it. Small fill adjustments can make a big difference!
  24. I did the Chamilia bracelet which is similar to pandora. Each of the big beads is 10 pounds and there are 7 on there. I wear it and am reminded of what i have done and what I continue to do. I think the rewards are very important because we are trying to change our behavior. I have also see a cute set of two decorated glass jars labelled "lost pounds" and "pounds to go" with beautful colored beads of glass in them that you transfer over. It was a really cute craft project..I think its important to have a reward or rewards that will last forever.
  25. Just tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth and let your doc make his or her recommendation...
