Not Losing The Weight :(

Recommended Posts

I got banded at the end of last Aug. since then I have only lost about 25 pounds. I don't understand this! It is very discouraging. Every time I go in for a fill, I have only lost a couple pounds. Nothing drastic. EVER! I have had 4 pretty good size fills so far. I have a 10cc band and already have 7cc's!!!!!!! I feel the restriction and I do eat less. Why am I not losing this weight?! What's gonna happen once my band is filled to the capacity? I will admit that I have lost alot of inches BUT where's my weight loss?! Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Hello Pink,

I had my surgery in April 09 and had lost 100 pounds and now find myself bouncing from an 80 -100 pound loss. Part of my problem is the sodium in the foods. If you have an issue with this try sodium substitute. Exercise is also a factor, if your not getting enough it won't come off. I had trouble exercising and at times still do from my different forms of Arthritis, So i have a pedometer and try to walk as much as possible, Even if its just around my complex to get in enough exercise. Hope this helps. I know how hard it can be. Good Luck in your future weight loss and a healthier you. btyboop58

Are you exercising? What kind of foods are you eating?

Georgia girl, i feel your pain, i haven't loss anymore weight either but its because i haven't really been exercising. exercising is key and if you are losing inches then you are losing weight. we don't notice it but others too. this is a slow process, don't get discouraged. it'll happen. just keep doing what you are supposed to do and by that i mean eating right and exercising. I have fallen off the band wagon this past month by eating a lot of carbs and sugar and trust me, i feel it. i am sleepy and sluggish all the time and i don't like that feeling. it is so disgusting. any ways with my spouse's help i am getting back on track. well good luck and remember it'll all work out. just be patient.

You ARE losing weight its just not fast enough for you! Thats understandable and we all feel that way. Hang in there! I have 8cc in a 10cc band and that keeps me in easy maintenance..I lost my last 15 pounds after getting a 0.3 cc fill if you can believe it. Small fill adjustments can make a big difference!

You say you do have restriction and you do eat less but it may not be about the quantity. It may be what you are eating that is stopping you from losing. Also even though you are eating less your less may still be more than is required for you to achieve weight loss.

You need to look at all the parts of the equation to figure it out:-

What you are eating, how much you are eating, how often you are eating, how much you are moving.

I was banded in 2009 and have had a lot of trouble. Even though I lost 90lbs pretty quickly. Now I have gained 30 back. Anyone have suggestions to get back on track. I feel like a failure. My doctor wants to do the sleeve my family doesn't want me too. I just want to be a normal size and to stop obsessing over food and weight. Help please!

This isn't a race and you are losing weight...just slowly. If you want to lose weight more quickly then you have to exercise more or reduce your calories (you choose!). I walk everyday, but haven't taken up vigorous exercise yet. I lose about 1 to 2 pounds a week, but I only eat 1000 to 1100 calories a day. As I lose more weight, I will have to start exercising to maintain this rate of weight loss (lower body weight=lower daily calorie requirements). I just came off a 3 week plateau, but if I am honest with myself, I was consuming 1300 to 1500 calories a day during that time (so this was my fault). I keep a food diary, so I know what I am eating. The interesting thing about the band, is it is adjustable and you almost can choose your rate of weight loss (within limits), if you are prepared to carefully monitor your calorie intake. Good luck!

Hi!

I know it’s frustrating to see the scale moving slowly. I had surgery on Jan. 11, 2012 and sometimes I feel like “man, I’ve ONLY lost 20 lbs” and then I have to remind myself that it’s been almost 8 years since I was able to “ONLY lose 20 lbs” before. That is a victory.

Are you keeping a food journal? If not, I highly recommend it. You can cram a lot of calories into 6 ounces if you’re not careful. Also, the fact that you’re losing inches is great. People can’t see the scale—they can see your smaller body.

Be proud of what you’ve accomplished so far, and really be honest with yourself about what you’re eating. If you’re sneaking food, overeating, etc, the only person you’re cheating is yourself.

Hang in there!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
