Protein is really important. I am sure that as a vegetarian it is still possible to get that much protein.

It would be interesting to see what the insurance companies take on this is. They have presumably paid a lot of money for people to have this surgery to help them get to a healthy weight range. I wonder if they would be happy paying that money out if they knew people were going to give up before they got there.
Yes BMI maybe flawed but until we have something better to replace it it works quite well. People forget it is a range. and the range is quite vast which allows for “ big” bones. The exceptions seem to be elite athletes that have lots of muscle, I’m guessing that most of us here are not in that category.
Choosing a goal weight is hard and it needs to be something that is healthy and makes you happy. It shouldn’t be something that is chosen based on fear and other people’s perceptions. If we stopped losing weight because other people told us we were getting too skinny most of us would still be in the overweight range!

So many people think they will look too thin at normal weight because being overweight is so normal that we have forgotten what normal weight should look like.

Thanks. All! I hit "healthy weight" on the BMI chart this morning and can't believe it! Went from morbidly obese. Will see what bari ream says next Monday. I think I'd be happy at 135. Enjoying your responses and support.

Wow, your psych thinks 147 is too thin for 5'4"? And she has no experience with WLS? I think you should consult your doc and/or dietician to see what they think about that. Maybe have your psych consult with them? Maybe she needs a bit of education, and it might make her a better counselor for future WLS patients.

For you. And that works for you.
But for some of us, personally, it creates a great conflict. So we either choose to follow what works for us as individuals, as long as it stays within the healthy realm, or not. But I would certainly not advocate that EVERYONE must do it this same way. I'm thrilled you have a weight that works for you and who cares about the charts. Cuz it works FOR you. Psychologically.
But I do relate to the OPs feelings.

I drank only shakes yesterday (3) and drank 86 oz of Water and this morning I seemed to have broken my stall. I am down 2.5 pounds from yesterday morning and now my BMI is 29.2, in the overweight category, yay!

And my Mama, may she rest in PEACE, always stated- always believed I was Big- Boned, fated to be on the Larger side of Things. Well having lost over 1/2 of ME, 178ish from High Point of 365+ I AM MERELY Medium - lady- sized boned after all. Told my ortho, the esteemed Kenneth H Doolittle II MD, I was an OBESE Athletic build, told me that was an impossibility! Last office visit, He ate his words, shook my hand and conceded I WAS CORRECT under all that Flabby Fluff lurked an 15/16 Junior size body- almost justifies going from a DD bra cup to a B, semi- perky , at 74 things "flop" instead of "bounce merrily" but it's GOID- ALL GOOD after all!
