  2. The 4cc band is the older model. It was superseded a couple of years ago. It seems they often use them in Mexico - presumably as they are old stock they got them cheaper. As far as I know they work but there is generally a reason for something being discontinued and a newer model introduced.
  3. Sounds interesting. Routine is something I'm not very good at either and I think that is where some of my problems arise.
  4. Maybe he is not injecting the fluid into the correct place. If that is the case I would be concerned as it would seem he doesn't know what he is doing.
  5. Wine is generally the best option. you can dilute it with soda water to make it lower calorie as well.
  6. I think you need to hang on before going through more surgery and getting your band removed. It is quite possible that your band is too tight. I think all the issues that you are having can be quite easily resolved.
  7. There is something that I would like to add and hopefully this is sensible and not just more trying to have the last word. SOMETIMES THE MARKETING AND THE REALITY ARE DIFFERENT When I was first banded I was told that the band would prevent me from eating too much. I was told that overeating would make me sick but it was also noted in several places that vomiting was not normal. What I discovered was that if I attempted to overeat I would be very uncomfortable. That sometimes it was not possible to tell what was enough and what was too much until it was too late. I also found that I quite often got a very full uncomfortable feeling in my throat that felt as though food was sitting there although apparently this is a referred sensation from pressure on the vagus nerve. I didn't like any of these sensations and for me they were not what I had been told that eating after being banded would be like but I was banded, it was working and if that was the reality then so be it. It would have just been nice if the Drs had given a more accurate picture. Also that was back in the old days when we were told that the food sits in your pouch and only moves through the stoma really slowly. The new line that is being spun is actually quite hard to swallow ( excuse the pun). The way it is stated it actually sounds like a cross between utopia and/or the band doing nothing. I am still not sure which it is. The bottom line is that you are not supposed to be so tight that you have a huge list of things that you cannot eat, but you should be able to get sufficient feedback from your band that you know that it is working. If you don't then the whole thing is rather pointless.
  8. I find it amazing that Alex asked people to stop behaving and commenting the way that they were yet it is still carrying on. Time for us all to start acting our age not our shoe size!
  9. Good luck, let us know if it helps.
  10. Being in a different time zone has it's advantages. On the1 hand I miss out on all the fun but on the other I don't get to jump in early and make a fool of myself!
  11. You might technically be naked but all except the parts that they are working on will be covered.
  12. I wish that Aussies did celebrate Halloween as I love it. When I lived in South Africa it had just started to catch on there which was great. I am very much a traditionalist though - if I was to dress up for Halloween it would have to be as a witch, ghost, devil or similar - I don't get dressing up as Princesses, Super Heroes, bob the Builder etc. To me that is not Halloween.
  13. There is nothing wrong with getting hungry 3 - 4 hours after a meal. If you do then eat a healthy snack.
  14. Try sucking crushed ice. It is very soothing and if you are swollen and inflamed it will help to reduce that.
  15. Generally I do my best to cough the item up. I have heard that guzzling a carbonated drink quickly can work. Just do it next to the sink as apparently it might come up like a fountain. Some people swear by papaya enzymes - I have tried but they don't work for me. Try sucking crushed ice. Your throat may be swollen and irritated from trying to bring the item up and if it is the ice can help to reduce the swelling which might in turn help to move the item. BUT If you can't get Water down then you can't wait until tomorrow to see your Dr as you will end up dehydrated. You may need to go to ER so that they can get an IV into you to keep you hydrated.
  16. I eat normal food but in small quantities. e.g. Breakfast :poached egg on wholegrain toast or oats or natural muesli with greek yogurt. lunch:leftovers or tuna with crackers or something on toast or a sandwich dinner: meat/chicken or fish with veg and a small portion of potato/rice or Pasta snacks: yogurt, nuts, nut bars, diet mousse, fruit
  17. The pain immediately post surgery is from the gas, if it carries on longer than that then as the Dr says it is because of the tubing irritating the vagus nerve. There are some bandsers that had such bad issues with it that they eventually had their bands removed. Hopefully your's isn't that bad and it goes away. good luck
  18. I'm sure it was stuck. Kettle chips are hard and a piece probably got lodged in the stoma.
  19. Were they chips as in fries or chips as in crisps? I have issues with fries but chips for me are a slider. yes if you get stuck that is where it hurts, right in the centre, between the breasts.
  20. There isn't a dumping stage with a band, or there isn't supposed to be. Dizziness could be from low blood pressure, low Iron, low blood sugar ............. all sorts. Maybe you are not eating enough. Next time it happens have some juice and see if that helps, if it does then it is proabbly low blood sugar which means that you might need to leave shorter gaps inbetween eating than you are currently. "The runs" could be caused by something in the Protein shakes. Lots of people have intolerances to the lactose or soy or other things in them. Try cutting them out and only using real food and see if that helps. Not sure about the sweats. That sounds like hormones (menopause, perimenopause) or maybe you have caught a bug. That could explain all your symptoms. I would call your Dr and see what he thinks.
  21. It sounds as though your band may be too tight. The reason you don't think that you are in the so called green zone is because the way it is described it sounds like an amazing state of utopia where small amounts of food leave you completely satisfied for hours. Maybe it is like that for a few but I think the reality is a lot different. Because we are trying to reach this wonderful utopia we end up becoming too tight and that actually means we don't get satisfied, we eat the wrong foods, we don't lose weight so we go for another fill , become tighter and the problem worsens. I think the green zone is a lot more subtle than a lot of people realise. In fact the way people on this site describe it I don't think I was ever in it! ( It's a bit like chasing the G spot)! Often you don't realise that you were in the green zone until afterwards when you have been too tight!
  22. The preop diet does make you feel really tired and flat and yes it is generally because of the lack of both carbs and also calories that you are used to. Having said that cleaning the house makes me tired, heck I get tired just thinking about it!
