Is It Normal To Be This Tired?

Day 5 of pre op diet. We cleaned the house today, and I am exhausted. I mean I can barely move.

The only thing I can think of is the really low amount of carbs I'm consuming.

get more protein' date=' that is your fuel[/quote']

Biochemically speaking, Proteins are building blocks. Carbs provide energy. While the body can use proteins for energy, it is a much more I efficient process.

The preop diet does make you feel really tired and flat and yes it is generally because of the lack of both carbs and also calories that you are used to. Having said that cleaning the house makes me tired, heck I get tired just thinking about it!

My last post should have said "inefficient."

And carolinagirl, I hope I didn't offend. it's the former biology and chemistry teacher in me coming out.

nope, not at all.....its all good my friend

just going by what worked and works for me

you do what works for you :)

I found I was tired the first few days of pre op but now I have more energy than I did when I started. Perhaps it is because of the extra weight I have lost..lol

How many carbs are you getting per meal and per day?

How many carbs are you getting per meal and per day?

The average shake I drink has about 5 carbs, so around 15-20 grams of carbs per day. I'm diabetic, so I monitor my blood glucose, and it has been fine.

I know. I was eating 45 g of carbs at each meal before I started pre-op. During the week, I'm at a desk job, so I guess it's not as noticeable to me.
