  1. You may still have some stuck. You should probably go and see your Dr.
  2. I don't see ads but if I did they would all be for jelly rolls, honey buns etc. Not food - FABRIC. I'm a quilting addict
  3. I agree with tmf. Everyone always recommends warm liquids but if you are truly stuck they won't go down. The crushed ice helps to reduce the swelling. Read this article by Helen who is an extremely well respected weight loss nutritionist. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/page/index.html/_/healthy-living/food-nutrition/lap-banders-need-an-internal-anti-inflammatory-r124
  4. Approx 6 months. I maintained my low for 2 years and have regained over the last 12 - 18 months. Trying to lose those few kilo's now but it is so much harder than it was initially!
  5. My initial BMI was 32, I got down to a low of 21 and am currently sitting around 23. I am only 5' and weigh 118lbs
  6. Stuck steak sucks. It hurts so badly. I ended up in emergency and had to get a partial unfill when i made that mistake.
  7. I had a low BMI and I still had to do one
  8. I sometimes drink with me meals but not often - I was banded in the old no drinking days and the habit sticks. However I have found that if I drink after I eat it can be incredibly uncomfortable, sometimes the liquid won't go down. Makes me wonder if the truth about how the band works is actually a cross between what we were taught previously and what they are teaching us now. Either that or it will turn out to be something completely different to what they thought.Science and medicine is forever changing its mind.
  9. Cute but I'm sure a pillow works just as well
  10. Tell me about it - at 5'nothing it takes minimal calories to maintain and it is so easy to eat just a few extra....................
  11. I did have a pulling sensation after trying out belly dancing.
  12. I have never liked Mcd's. I remember the first time I tried 1 of their burgers was at Heathrow and I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. A thin tasteless burger, covered in grease on a sweet bun. Rather give me a Spur or Steers burger any day. Thick and juicy, made from real meat and with some gorgeous mushroom sauce. Yum. I have never been a great pizza eater and now even less so. I will take thin crust over deep pan anyday. I like Subway but there is no way I would attempt to eat that now, even though it is healthy. I used to like the healthy wraps at McDs but they didn't have them as an option for very long. Now if I am out shopping and I need to buy a quick lunch I usually buy a spring roll or a dim sim. Really unhealthy but not too big and easy to eat. So being banded , for me at least, doesn't necessarily mean you eat healthier. One of my favourite foods has always been tomatoes, in any shape or form, now I hardly eat them and they often end up going off. I also hardly eat fruit even though I know that I should , so i am not sure that my diet is any healthier than preband, it's just that I eat less.
  13. PS. At this point losing your band should be the last of your worries. Ensuring that you do not have a life threatening complication is far more important.
  14. How about you go straight to emergency, preferably an ER at a hospital that has a good bariatric department. Surely then they will have to do something.
  15. Are you low carbing? If so it could be that you need to eat a more varied diet. You might be concentrating too much on protein and not getting enough of the other nutrients that you need.
  16. I almost did kill mine when he baked muffins when i was in the liquid stage of my post op. I think if I had I could have got off on the grounds of justifiable homicide.
  17. It is possible that this is a sign that your band has eroded into the stomach. When this happens the infection can travel along the tubing to the port. I would be rather concerned. Antibiotics are good but I believe that you also need further testing to confirm what has caused the problem. If it is an eroded band that is causing the infection then it is a medical emergency and you need urgent surgery. Good luck and keep us updated.
  18. Try googling health risks of obesity - hopefully that will scare you more.
  19. The only person I would allow him to have a relationship with would be Mrs Palmer and her 5 daughters.
  20. People should be aware that when using the internet things they post are there forever. We get told this all the time. It's why you should be careful what you post on social media sites such as facebook as it can turn around and bite you in the future.
  21. I can't comment on the C Section as when I had mine I wasn't banded. I did however have a hysterectomy 2 years ago and didn't get unfilled for that. i didn't have any issues.
  22. Being there, done that, worst stuck ever. Ended up taking myself to hospital after suffering the whole night. I now know to not get too complacent even when it feels like I could eat anything.
  23. Not a great choice for your first solid food. they may both be healthy and slimming but they are both foods that can be really difficult to eat when banded. Take care.
  24. i didn't tell either of mine.My daughter was away at uni so she didn't even know I was going for any kind of surgery and my son who was 15 i just told him I had to go in for some minor test. I told both of them about a year later. My daughter was a bit relieved as she apparently thought I was bulimic. My son said that he had figured it out anyway.
  25. Mis is right. i have had my band for almost 4 years and I like to see my Dr twice a year - I like to confirm that everything is ok.
