Notification Settings help, please
I'm not sure but you might have to do this on each thread that you decide to follow. I have some where I get instant notifications and others where I get a daily digest

More "dumping" questions
Obviously dumping is something that most wls patients fear and all want to try and avoid it. But after reading countless articles and threads I find it all very confusing. There are some food which are obvious triggers e.g alcohol, high fat and high sugar foods. But what I am curious about are things like fruit - fruit is very high in sugar but a lot of the articles and recommended diet plans include fruit as an ok food. This confuses me. Are certain fruits better than others? Is fruit ok but only in very small quantities? I am also wondering if "food combining" helps. Is eating fruit with protein e.g yogurt better than eating it on its own? Does this apply to other foods as well? We all know how before going to a party and consuming lots of alcohol people would "line" their stomachs with a glass of milk. Does this kind of approach work for bariatric patients? I am also interested in if there is anything that can be done to relieve or reduce a dumping episode once it starts? Obviously there isn't a lot that can be done if the dumping gives you the trots but what if your symptoms are the shaky, lightheaded , palpitations kind of symptoms? Usually people with hypoglycaemia need to get instant , easy to digest sugar but if sugar is the cause then its not going to help.

I miss food so much so so much ???
Did food really make you happy? For 5 minutes or so possibly but then afterwards when it made you put on all that weight and become unhealthy? Food is like a frenemy, yes it gives us instantaneous comfort but we tend to feel bad afterwards. There is no reason for you not to still enjoy food you just need to experiment and start enjoying healthier food. Maybe take a cooking class or order some cookbooks and try new interesting flavours and tastes.

Jan 2019 bypass buddies
Its good when it feels like the process is moving. Hopefully you will have that date soon. I'm currently working on not drinking with meals - its a habit I got out of

SLEEVE CONVERSION: Vertical gastric sleeve (VGS) to Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB) ?
I have heard that the mini bypass is a high risk for reflux. Maybe you should be looking at a full bypass - the sleeve is part 1 of a DS you could get that next stage

To Minimiser Ring or not to Minimiser Ring, that is the question.
Nothing like a lapband but its a ring that goes around the stomach. Sounds exactly like a band except its not adjustable. Would have to wonder what the incidence of erosion and scar tissue formation is like down the track
-
MiniMizer Ring with Sleeve
I would be concerned that these would cause the same kind of issues long term that a lapband does. Wondering what the research and stats say
-
I was involved in a car accident, which caused my band to slip! Please Read!
It looks like you are bruised around the port, thats probably because something hit the area. Probably nothing to worry about but it is always best to go and see your Dr and raise your concerns

Dumping twice in 3 days! Surgery just 7 days ago!
Maybe take a step back and stick to what you were eating prior to Monday. I'm not there yet so can't say with any confidence but your body is probably still settling down. Treat yourself gently

Severe Anxiety After Scheduling Surgery
The only words of advice I have are Keep the end goal in sight and Breath!

Anyone regretting this?
All the people that offered support gave the best possible advice. Support is about ensuring the person gets what they need. If someone can't drink and is having migraines those are signs of dehydration and that is a killer. If someone had given "soft" advice e.g you poor thing go and lie down and take a couple of headache pills instead of advising to do what was needed to treat dehydration then it's possible the outcome could have been fatal.

Open Letter To All Newbies
I drink my water hot with a tea bag and a splash of skinny milk.

Lapband Replacement
The people I know that have had a second or third band have never managed to achieve the same level of success they did when they first got banded. Potentially you may have lots of scar tissue and adhesions. At some point in your future this band is probably going to stop working or cause issues that require a revision. Why put yourself through that, especially because as Matt says bands are being phased out as they have been proven over time not to be the successful tool that they were initially thought to be. I would be considering my options and looking at something that hopefully won't need another revision 5 or 10 years down the line

Anyone else experience zero pain after surgery?
I haven't had mine yet but that was how I felt after my hysterectomy. Once my catheter was out I was "jumping" out of bed, forgetting that I had the pain pump still attached! Surprised all the medical staff with how active I was

Anyone regretting this?
My take on this is that the OP was having one of those awful OMG what have I done/I feel sorry for myself moments that a lot of people have in those days or weeks post surgery. She was probably looking for some sympathy whereas instead she got tough love. Hopefully she has read some of the responses and realised that there is no point in feeling sorry for yourself, you can't turn back the clock you have to get on with it. I am hoping she went to the ER and got that dehydration sorted out and has now worked out what and how to drink. If you don't like plain water, put cordial or some kind of flavouring in it. Not being able to drink because of a metallic taste is a bit over the top. I'm sure lots of people get that sort of taste for no known reason and drink anyway, I know I do. Hopefully she reports back soon and lets us know that yes she is OK

Emergency Surgery
In australia we have to do a face to face for anything, they will not give any info over the phone. It is incredibly annoying and to me an unnecessary drain on our healthcare system. I remember a number of years ago I had had blood tests and the Drs offices called me to tell me I had to come back in. Well the mind goes into overdrive, I had myself 6ft under and pushing up daisies! When I got to the Dr it turned out I had low iron and needed to take a supplement! Hope yours is something as simple

Time Changes Everything. Stop stressing about the now!
Surgery causes facial hair to grow!

Uhhhhh!!!I'm so ready for change
I think they are right, I don’t think I will live 100 years after mine and that to me would be a long time. The majority of people however live as long as anyone else.

Differences in postop diets when having surgery "overseas"
I know there are lots of differences with regards to carbs proteins etc but I was under the impression that the phased liquid, mushy, soft diet progression was a universal thing. Im pretty shocked at the eating solids a couple of days after surgery thing

It's SAD
I hate winter. Cold, dull miserable days. They definitely drag the mood down. Love the sun, it puts a special shine on things. No real tips other than try not to become a recluse! I sometimes have to force myself out of the house to do things even when i know that it will be fun.

Crepe-y skin!! Haaaalp!!
Phone your Dr's. You are obviously allergic to the adhesive on the dressings, I have the same issue, ask them what antihistamine is safe to use.
