  2. Hi everyone, time is getting closer now getting banded on 25th March 2009 , and was wondering if you could be as kind as to advise what one is to expect following surgery. My wife and I have a small family run business , most of which is online related , sadly Ive always been the one to keep on top of things online related , our site and online trading. Now Im wondering should I shut the operation down for a few days and take the financial hit , something that may cost us around £1000 a day , having still to pay staff wages etc whilst I have this band fitted, this is something I would not like to do as in todays economic climate, things are hard especially after just forking out the money for the operation. Now I know one should not put a price on ones health and if I do decide to shut things down , I am trying to anticipate for how long I can expect. So in reality I ask , from the day of the operation ( and being advised all going well I will go home next day ) if I were to hope the day after I could do some light work , ie just sitting at pc for a couple of hours, could I expect to be able to handle this OK , or would I be more likely to be in my bed full of aches ? Any advise and comments would be much appreciated. as you can see... my new ticker ... and on my pre op diet whcih phew is tough going , If I drink another cup of Soup I think Im gonna scream , my wife made the kids sausages for dinner ... oooohhhhh the smell ... I nearly lost control of myself ..... then the sister turned up with a nice new stainless steel smoothie maker for me ......... mmmmm took my mind off it at least LOL .. sorry Im off on a tangent .... yes comments please
  3. Thanks I will be sure to check it out.
  4. Hi , Just thought I would introduce myself , Im Nick alias Big Nick , hopefully to be Not so Big Nick from Scotland. Im due to have lapband fitted on 25th March and currently in my 2 week pre op liquid diet period, which to say the least is driving me bananas or is it I want to eat some bananas LOL, I wish :w00t: Im 43 yrs of age , married 3 great kids :frown:, been overweight most of my adult :lunch: currently 280lb 's. Heaviest 310lbs 2007. Due to recent health issues , mainly compression and protruding discs of the lower spine L1-L5 causing severe problems with mobility been advised got lose those pounds at least 70 of em. Having dieted before constantly and always fighting my weight , decided this is gonna be my best long term option to get them off and keep them off. I spent most of last year on my back flat due to the back and decided its a no go for sure, especially now its a no win situation , wont operate unless I loose the weight and possibly losing the weight may well be enough to relieve the pressure on my spine for me to manage it better without the added risk of an operation. Being a reasonably young guy , young family I think the best and sensible thing to do. Anyway sadly no insurance pay out .. gotta pay myself £7,000 ( about $12,000 US I believe or thereabouts ) , Hospital will be Ross Hall in Glasgow and Biatric Surgeon Mr Stewart. So ....... my mind is going at 90 mph , wondering whats in store for me , watched a few vids on google , so thought best sign up to a forum and interact with people who are in similar situation. I will keep the questions coming over the forthcoming weeks and get a grasp on the little community you have here Nick
