    Have hit the brick wall

Oh, I feel like you were in MY bathroom between weeks 4 and 6! And as far as the, uh humm, bathroom issue, I'm right there with you. If I'm lucky, I'll go once every 5-6 days, even with Miralax every day. So, I guess it's pretty normal. Hang in there, the scale will move, I promise! I was at a stall for almost 3 weeks before I started losing again. Everyone stalls around that time. Keep the chin up!

Some NSV (and a scale victory too!)

Vegas and Italian--So glad you had such a great time on your cruise. I love to cruise, too. And now we don't have to worry about gaining 10 lbs in 7 days! These non scale victories are just awesome to hear about!

    Problem with eating-HELP!

Mac, I think you are right. This past week I really concentrated on slowing down my eating. I had many fewer problems, although I did have a few. Thanks for your advice. I will continue to eat SLOWLY!
  4. I need some advice. I am almost 2 months post-op and am eating a regular diet now. Whatever I eat seems to settle right in the base of my throat. I only eat a little and it feels like the food is right at the bottom of my throat. If I eat a little too much, same thing. After around 30 minutes it passes, but it's really uncomfortable. Whats up? I'm taking the prilosec every day.

    Problem with eating-HELP!

Boy, Mac, if thats whats happening then my stomach can only hold a tiny, tiny bit, cause it seems to happen no matter how much I eat. I do have to watch how fast I eat. Maybe thats the problem. Thanks for the advice!

    Problem with eating-HELP!

Thanks. I am hoping to hear from someone who has experienced this too.
  7. You know, I'm not a big fan of spinals, and I'm allergic to morphine, so when I spoke with the anesthesiologist, he said he would do an epidural (not much different from a spinal). I wasnt sure I wanted that either, but I had no pain during the insertion and Dr A left it in until after the 3rd leak test so I could get pain relief through it during the first 2 days post op. It wasnt like during my c-sections where you couldnt feel your legs and had to wait all day for the feeling to come back before you can walk. Almost as soon as you get back to your room they want you to get up and walk. I would advise you to get it. Why have extra pain when it's not necessary?

    Where is everyone???

Sorry youre not feeling well Oregon. Hope the cough gets better. But, Just a thought...I wonder if you burn calories during those coughing fits? Something good from something bad? LOL. Anyway, take the day to rest and relax, I think thats what Labor day is all about anyway. Well, I'm off to the movies. Feel better.

    Help me with a plan...

I was going to say try planned parenthood also. they can get you in and give you a prescription quite quickly, and then you have an entire month to find another dr. Why do we always procrastinate? It must be in our genes!!

    NSV shout outs

Thanks Tiff! I guess my best NSV so far is when my son was gone for ten days and he came home, saw me and said, "wow! you look skinny!" That felt great!

    NSV shout outs

I may be dumb, but what does NSV stand for?

Has Dr. Alvarez had any VSG Leaks?

I can only put in my two cents: Dr. Aceves is the way to go!

Is it normal post-op to be tired after exercise?

I'm so glad you asked that question. I'm 7 weeks post op and I can barely do 5 minutes on my elliptical. I've been thinking about starting Jazzercise. I know I need to exercise but I'm always so tired. I guess I should just do what I can handle and eventually my body will work out the kinks, right?

    Finally! The Scale: It's Alive!!!

Wow, I was beginning to think my scale just froze and died. It didn't budge for sooooo long! But I hesitantly stepped on the scale this morning and SURPRISE! My weight was down 3 1/2 pounds! :biggrin2: Okay, so maybe I've been a little hard on it. I won't throw it through the window-this time. And the other good thing this week is I'm absolutely learning how to eat normally, and I'm loving it! Every day gets better and better :cursing:

    is this for seniors?

Crazy? No Way!! If your doctor okays it, then I say You Go Girl! It was the best thing I ever did, and I, too, went to Mexicali. You will find it great there. Of course your family will be worried, but youre doing this for you. Don't let them take this away from you.

    My Rebirth

Beautifully put. I admire your talent. We have all walked that mile. Good luck with your rebirth.
  18. I had the same stall at 4 weeks. Just this week I started seeing the scale move again. Just need to keep your chin up and know that this was the best thing to do and it does work.

    I'm Soooooo Frustrated!

Just a quick post to say, "I'm sooooooo frustrated!" I'm still at a stall. I'm doing everything right, (I think!) but the darn scale won't move, not an ounce! Well, they say patience is a virtue....I'll let you know about that. Hopefully the scale will move soon. Cause if it doesn't, I may just throw it through the window!:cursing:
  20. I'm getting really frustrated. I know it's normal to stall when you go from mushies to real food, but my scale hasn't moved in weeks. I've lost 26lbs since surgery (july 10th) and I'm not upset about that, but the scale just froze! I mean, it hasn't moved an ounce in two weeks. I'm eating right. 3 meals, small amounts of the right foods, no snacks, lots of fluid, I just don't get it. Any advice out there??
  21. I agree with all the others. Trust me, this is not the easy way. You have to follow the post op rules, you have to listen to your body, you have to change your eating habits. The thing is...the surgery gives you a tool that reminds you if you stray. It keeps you from eating too much and helps you stay on track. You've made a life-changing decision. Congratulations and welcome!

    I'm in Mexicali!!

Carmella, Healing prayers to you...good luck tomorrow. Sit back and let those angels at the hospital do they're thing.
  23. Wow, you have a fantastic PCP. And of course, Dr Aceves is awesome. You will have a great experience in Mexicali and it's great to know you will have good follow up from a respectable physician. Good luck on your journey.

    Feeling Better Every Day

5 weeks out and feeling wonderful! I'm finally learning my limits, what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat. My only problem is that I like to drink while I'm eating and I'm finding it impossible to break this habit. Also, I've been in a weight loss stall for a week and a half, although everyone I talk to says that's common when you start "real" food. I sure hope to see the scale move again soon! I'm getting lots of compliments at work and that's really nice too :-)
  25. I'm thinking he meant the spinach baked ricotta, cause you dont bake the cheescake one. the spinach recipe is: 1 15oz. skim ricotta 1 pkg frozen spinach, thawed and drained well 1 pkg shredded parmesean cheese marinara sauce (optional) Mix the ricotta, spinach, and 1/2 cup parm cheese in a bowl. Place in baking dish. Sprinkle with another 1/2 cup parm cheese. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown and bubbling (about 30-40 minutes). serve with marinara sauce if desired. Yummy!
