    Recycling

Ok everyone. I know there are a lot of nurses on this board. I have about a dozen pairs of scrub pants, almost brand spanking new in all colors, size XL, about to go to goodwill. I have a few jackets also. If anyone is interested in these, PM me, I will gladly send them to you!

    Any Other Tests Needed?

Hey Vegas, It like your PCP is covering pretty much everything. He's testing your general blood status, (CMP), your liver (triglycerides, cholesterol, fats, lipids), you thyroid function (tsh), urine (for Ph, blood, red and white blood cells, etc.) and the B12, folic acid and Vit d levels. That's pretty thorough. Off hand I can't think of anything else that would be of benefit regarding your symptoms. Hope this helps.

    NSV - Closet Clean Out

I joined this closet club yesterday! Just before I was sleeved I had to go get new scrub pants in XL cause I could no longer fit into L. Now I have a closet full of scrubs and other clothes that just swim on me. I broke down yesterday and went and bought 3 pairs of jeans from Kohls (don't you all love that store?!) and some new scrubs! Goodwill here I come!

    krispy kreme

I am also just about 3 months out. I will be the first to admit, I enjoy a treat now and then. And I don't consider it cheating! I did NOT get the sleeve to DIET the rest of my life. I got it to be able to control my eating, the portions, and what goes in my mouth. I LIKE sweets. But now, I don't HAVE to eat them all the time. My weight loss is great, over 40 lbs so far, and I treat myself once or twice a WEEK! Not a lot, just a cookie, or a few chips, but enough to feel SATISFIED. Go ahead! Enjoy! Just keep it under control. The sleeve makes that POSSIBLE!

    juice ok?

Nope! Stick to the crystal light and sugar free juices! You don't want those hidden sugars and carbs. I admit, I occasionally snuck an apple juice though! Welcome to the sleeve side!

    Explain this to me

That's weird Vegas! My problem is a "little" different. My girls are small and getting smaller. Why is it when you don't want to lose somewhere, that's the first to go???

    The Sleeve Surgery in MX?

Cristine, As everyone before me has already said, Dr Aceves is wonderful. You will be well taken care of, in a beautiful, fully equipped hospital. You will be operated on by a very caring, and experienced surgeon. And you will have a great experience. Continue to do your research, as that is the most important thing, but be assured, Dr. Aceves can safely be placed at the top of your list! And welcome!

Fluids and Fiber - TMI story but important

Oregon, I'm gonna try salad and magnesium first, if that fails, then I'm gonna go back to the Miralax. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem.

  11. I have been swallowing my pills whole for about a month now. I am just under 3 months post-op. I have had no problems. And I,too, take Effexor XR. Funny, huh? I couldn't stand crushing then taking any of my meds, even with pudding or applesauce...yuk! And the nexium mups...eeewwww! If anyone wants them, I have 40mg tablets that I only used one or two.

Fluids and Fiber - TMI story but important

Vegas, I haven't really tried salad yet, but I will. Starting tonight! And to GNC i go tomorrow to get magnesium pills. Anything to have more regular BM's. I'll let you know...

Fluids and Fiber - TMI story but important

Do you guys recommend the fiber rather than Miralax? I only have 1 BM a week since surgery. I don't feel constipated, but that's as often as I go, and even then, it's only with 2 or 3 doses of miralax. I sure don't want to go through what SoCal did. That must have been awful!

    2 Months Post-Op

Wow, I can't believe it's been 2 months. I stepped on the scale, total 35lbs lost so far! WHOO HOO!!! How amazing. I'm about halfway to my goal. Eating is becoming easier. It's really important for me to concentrate on eating slowly...to keep the food from backing into my esophagus and being terribly uncomfortable for half hour or so. That's my biggest problem thus far. I can eat pretty much anything. And that really surprises me. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!! My original goal was to lose 30lbs by October 16th, that's when my daughter is coming to visit. She has no idea about the surgery. Now maybe it will be 40 pounds. Unbelievable! If anyone is considering the sleeve and wondering if it's worth it...ABSOLUTELY!:cursing:
  17. If the white stuff does not come off if you wipe it, it is probably a fungus called Thrush. Nothing to be alarmed about. Babies get it all the time. It can be causing your tickle sensation in your throat. If it is still there tomorrow, do go see a doc, but dont panic and dont bother with an ER visit.j They will just give you some oral nystatin to swish and spit out to coat the tongue and kill the fungus.

    NSV shout outs

The most awesome and emotional NSV Shout Out. Tonight I was able to fit my grandmother's wedding ring on my finger for the first time since she gave it to me just before she passed away. That was over 4 years ago. It was unable to be up-sized, so it just sat in my safe deposit box. I figured some day I would give it to my daughter. I was at the box today for something totally unrelated and figured, why not try it? It slid right on! I cried for joy! It's beautiful. I don't think I'll ever take it off. Of course, it's on my right hand, not to be confused with an actual wedding ring. :-)

    Reflections from a Fat Chick

Whoo Hoo!!! Way to go Sleeve Sister!!!! I'm so proud of you! I, too, get nauseated at times. It can only get better. I'm down 38 pounds now. It's unbelievable, isn't it! This is the best thing we could have done, for our health, our lifestyles, and our self esteem. Don't regret it for a second!

    Homecoming delayed, I'm devastated

Tiff, I'm so sorry about the delay. I know how you've been counting the minutes. I hope you will have that tooth fixed and be 100% by the time John gets home. As always, take care of yourself and may the time fly by.

    iphone vs blackberry (which one?)

I don't know what you see, Hope, but your font is teenie-tiny to us. Much smaller than mine, susan's or tiff's. Sorry to be such a nag, but these old eyes can hardly read your posts!

    Sketcher's Shape ups vs MBT

Last year I broke my leg. When I got out of my cast, my therapist, (and the orthopaedist) recommeded the MBT's. I went to the website Walkers Warehouse and bought a pair. I now have 3 pairs, and absolutely love them. I am a nurse and wear them to work. They are great. I don't know about the sketchers cause they are new and I haven't tried them. To save money, I ordered discontinued models they offered. The sizes are true and if it says order 1 size smaller than do, cause they are right. Good luck, nd let me know if you try the sketchers, how they are.
