  1. Thanks guys! It's nice to share victories with those who can relate.
  2. That's an awesome success! I can't even imagine what a 6 must feel like. I just got into 10's. Gosh, how big were those size 12's you were still wearing when you bought the 6! Congratulations to the new you!
  3. It's been a long, slow journey for me but I had a milestone goal in mind since the beginning that I wanted to lose 100 lbs. I had a 3 to 4 month period after losing 85 lbs where I needed a break and ate whatever I wanted. The weight loss came to a halt. So recenty I got serious and strict with my eating and it worked. After sitting at -99 for the last 2 weeks, this morning the scale showed me a new number...-101, I fit into a size 10 pants today too, so I'm pretty excited. I'm rockin my sleeve and can honestly see my final goal in sight...life is good. If anyone is on the fence about getting the surgery, don't hesitate. It will change your life.
  4. I've taken Advil a few times with no problem. They don't want us to take it if we don't have to since it's been known to cause stomach bleeding. But since Advil is the only thing that works for me, I was told it's okay once in a while. Funny thing is, since losing so much weight, all my aches and pains are gone and I hardley ever need to take it now.
  5. Good for you! How do you manage to lose so much this late in the game? We're all dying to know what you did differently.
  6. Oh my goodness! I can understand why you're nervous. I was expecting you to say you were having a tummy tuck or body lift! Face lift should make you feel like a new woman. Good luck and keep us posted. That would be cool if Aceves could give you a picture of your sleeve. We'd all love to see it!

Yep, salad is very easy to eat. I can get a lot down.
  8. Oh yes, we all did that! Make sure you get your fill of pasta!
  9. I would describe the difference between full liquids and mushies by thinking full liquids would fit through a straw, and mushies would require a spoon or fork. Odd that you were allowed eggs on full liquids since I would call that a mushie. Those are all great food ideas for traveling from Meg. I lived on mashed potatoes, refried beans, scrambled eggs, tuna, egg salad, thick soups, etc.
  10. Yay for you! That is a very exciting goal you have reached and you should be proud of yourself. I can understand your excitment since I am 3lbs away from 100lbs myself...I can't wait to join you!
  11. Sounds like sleep apnea to me also. I developed this at 270lbs when I had gained a lot of weight, especially around my neck and chest. I would wake up gasping also. I would often dream I was dying in some way and struggle to wake myself up. As soon as I lost about 30lbs it got better and better and eventually I gave up the CPAP machine altogether. Now I sleep great. Get yourself in for a sleep study just to make sure.
  12. I believe there might be some truth to this honeymoon period idea. I had great results at losing weight up to about 80 lbs lost (at around 11 mos post op). Then the holidays hit and I became disconnected with all efforts at dieting and felt that I was "taking a break" for awhile to enjoy all the holiday feasting. The holidays ended but I kept eating whatever I wanted and after 3 mos realized I had gained 5lbs. Fortunately I'm now back to very strict protein style eating and have cut out all the crap, and the weight is coming off again. So yes, we stll have to make an effort to practice healthy eating and use our tool as it was intended, especially after a year.
  13. I love weighing myself every morning. I get out of bed each day with anticipation that the scale might go down again! If it doesn't, no big deal. I still know that I have the tool I need to continue to lose. Some of us use this as motivation I guess. Others are afraid of failure. Maybe since I've been losing slowly for over a year, I have a different perspective than a newbie, knowing that my sleeve works as long as I continue to work with it. Besides, I can't explain how, but I'm convinced that somehow we lose inches when the scale isn't moving down.
  14. OMG is this really how fast it goes now? I'm in SoCal also, and yes, it took a year, at least. I had to do 6 months of weekly Options classes (after waiting to get in) then a 3 month wait for a surgery consultation! It was an eternity...I complained then, but not now. That year was a valuable preparation period for a whole new lifestyle of eating and I appreciate it now. But I also understand your excitement to get the surgery as soon as you can. Good luck on your journeys!!
  15. You look maaahvelous darling! Way to go. Congratulations on 100lbs lost!!
  16. Just try to remembert that those six days of "discomfort" while on the liquid diet is leading you to a new life, and ensuring that your surgery will be successful. Try the Premier chocolate protein shakes from Costco, they're quite tasty and filling. Good luck to you!!
  17. You freak out because you feel something hard and sharp and foreign when you reach behind your butt in the bathtub...and realize it's your tailbone. Has that always been there?
  18. I don't know about you, but I chose the sleeve over gastric bypass because I don't want to never be able to eat another piece of birthday cake! Forgive yourself. The fact that you feel guilty about it is a good sign. You wouldn't have cared about it a year ago, so consider the progress you've made. The only problem is now you've seen the danger of being able to eat slider foods. Why can't they just fill us up like chicken does! Why do they go down so easy and why did the whole piece of cake fit in my sleeve! (This is how I feel about popcorn). We should all enjoy birthday cake once in awhile, especially our own. They key is "once in awhile" like normal folks do! Congratulations on your weight loss so far.
  19. Unfortunately some of us don't lose our hunger. This was very disappointing to me since it was something I was very much looking forward to after surgery. But I do find that my hunger is reduced if I keep my carbs low. And I still enjoy food very much, which some say they lost when they lost their hunger, so maybe it's not a bad thing to be hungry. You just have to be prepared with healthy snacks so we don't make bad choices when the hunger hits.
  20. We can eat a little more partly because of being completely healed and not swollen at all, and after this much experience at eating the right portions, we've already tested our size intake and we know our limits. In the beginning we're much more cautious about how much to eat, thinking we're going to overdo it, but after a year you've pushed it enough times to know you're capable of one or two more bites sometimes. And gaining back weight is not ever going to be a problem, I can tell. I've eaten some pretty unhealthy stuff before and not gained, so I think it would take a lot of consistent overeating of very high calorie foods to cause much gaining.
  21. Sounds like you hit the euphoria of low carb eating and seeing results! Good for you. Welcome to the losers club. Don't you feel incredibly lucky to have this secret weapon that allows us to finally lose weight and not gain it all back? Enjoy your journey! It's a great ride.
  22. I went thru this with Kaiser. It also included Options classes each week and weigh ins. Hated it at first and it seemed like an eternity to get to the surgery, but so glad now that I went thru it! You will be so much more ready for your surgery when its over. It will keep you accountable and by the time you have surgery it will be a new lifestyle and makes eating easier to get used to. Log your food and calories and have little goals. We had a 1500 calorie meal plan and I stuck to it and lost 27lbs pre op. Remember you are on a journey starting now, not when the surgery happens, so use the time to learn all you can from this site. Good luck!!!
  23. I went through a snacking phase with popcorn. Unfortunately I can eat a ton of it at once. Also nuts, chips, whatever I wanted seemed safe at first since I wasn't gaining, but I sure wasn't losing either. I had to go pure protein to get rid ot the carb cravings and now the lbs are coming off again. Now my snack is greek yogurt! You have to have SOME snack options so you can eat every few hours, not just 3 meals a day. If you're hungry, eat!
  24. Greek yogurt tastes like vomit...unless you sweeten it. Stevia and sugar free vanilla syrup works great. I tried so many times to like it and hated it until I learned this!
  25. Oh WOW! What an awesome accomplishment that is. I'm a few pounds away from reaching this goal myself, so I can understand your excitement. Go shopping and try on those size 10's or 8's or whatever!!! Go forth and CELEBRATE.
