  1. Wow we are going through the same things... I feel better I'm not the only one who has to sleep on the sofa's recliner not my bed! Well I can sleep in my bed on my right side, but I can't stay there for all night long. I MUST toss around all night so it's impossible for me to do that so that forces me to sleep on the recliner and it's better for my stomach for now anyway. I don't have problems breathing or anything, just feeling "stuck" and not able to finish my liquids. My incisions aren't that swollen at all, they are up high on my stomach too. Hope you feel better SOON as well. this sucks, I know! We can do it!!! :cool2:
  2. Hey! I got banded last tues... (11/10/09) I did good on the next day. But then yesterday I felt awful! nauseous, & stuck. This morning I felt a bit better, but then when I started to drink down the liquids, I started to feel the same way as I did yesterday- stuck. Felt like there was no air in my stomach, it made me nauseous & dizzy! I called my nurse, she kept saying keep drinking - you need 64 oz of liquids a day... I cant keep drinking if I feel like throwing up did you go through this in ur first week? what do you suggest? thanks!

  5. Day #3 Post Op: I'm feeling much better today thank god... It was AWFUL yesterday! UGH never wanna go through that again. Yesterday night I took the dogs out for a brief walk to the mail center then when I got back home I was almost ready to puke but I didn't. Good thing I didn't because it wouldn't be good for me and the band. I still couldn't be able to sleep on the bed, because I was too sick, I was afraid I wld puke on the bed so I slept on the sofa's recliner til 7 am then I tried to get in the bed and it was a success. Slept for an hour and half then now I'm awake, drinking my breakfast Gatorade. And some of the liquid Tylenol for my pains on the incisions. Now goal of today: drink 64oz of liquids. Today I'm able to shower my full body with the incisions too. Cheers!
  6. Whoo!!! Am praying your day goes smoothly! Hope you have a speedy recovery too!
  7. Obviously I'm not drinking enough because I got so sick today.. Was feeling very nauseous, every time I took a sip of something it made me feel like I wanna throw up. Called the nurse and says its normal- cuz my body is used to a lot of calorie intakes now I'm not taking calories as I sld so my body is reacting and changing so I have to keep drinking 64oz of liquids a day. I will be on liquid diet for 2 weeks to give my stomach time to heal before moving on to the puree stage. My roommate went to the store and got me Gatorade and liquid Tylenol - so I am sitting here drinking Gatorade, feeling little bit of same thing but less nauseous than earlier. Hopefully it'll be a better day tomorrow. maybe it's the same thing for you? needing more liquid intake? Hope you and I feel better soon!!!! Oh yea, I lost 17 lbs since my pre-op diet!!

  10. Had my surgery last Tues... Yesterday I was okay, now I woke up feeling very nauseous, trying to drink slimfast blended with little milk (to reduce thickness) because it has nutritions in it, that I've been missing out for the past 3 days. I'm feeling so weak and it's hard to drink and not feel like throwing up... any advices please?! I tried calling my dr's office to speak with a nurse, but they aren't open til 9 or 10 am.
  11. did you get my info from the novermber bandster group too? just checking thanks for volunteering to do this, it's super nice of you!!!

  14. I woke up so early (7am) cuz I couldn't sleep well I was sleeping on the sofa's recliner cuz I can't sleep flat on my back or stomach, or it'll hurt. Bleh! I'm having pains in my stomach this morning - I guess because the painkillers from the hospital is worn off. I do have rx for painkillers but its not as strong as the hospital's. So I'm hanging in there. Not hungry at ALL. I have no appetite right now. I haven't eaten in 2 days, so today hopefully chicken broth will go down with no problem. I've had one Popsicle and some jello so far. I can only sip a little at once because the dr said my stomach is still swollen- it shld get better in 2 days. Whenever I sip something, its weird because I can feel it going through my stomach. I can tell its tight but I'm able to hold my liquids down. For the next 1-2 weeks my food intake will be liquids only, then after that, it's the puree stage for 1 week and then soft food for a week, then finally slowly to normal foods. I can't shower within 48 hours of surgery. So thank god for my detachable shower head. John helped me wash my hair and everything else except the stomach area. I feel so much better now that I'm half clean. Took a short nap this afternoon, wasn't a great one but I'm getting there. Pain mostly in the stitches and my stomach. John (my hubby) is taking goooood care of me. He will go in work this afternoon then Ian (my best friend/roommate) will take over and be my nurse I've lost 14 lbs all together since I started the pre-op diet. Ill keep you updated! <3 <3 <3

  16. Hello! I'm backkkk and banded! Here's my story... :tongue_smilie:
  17. Today was .... interesting. I am BANDED! I'm in little pain so that's a great thing, I cant bear a lot of pain. The most pain was my throat near my heart because of the tube they put there while I was under. It was interesting to get the idea what's it like to be under... I cant remember the moment I went under. lol I was in recovery room for about 2 hours until I finally woke up. It was SOOO hard to wake up, I kept falling asleep lol My incisions are not bad, one of them (I think the port site) bled through the sterile strips. i was shocked to see how small they were. The worst thing I went through is the swallow test. The barium is sooo GROSS, I felt like I was gonna throw up! But good thing is I passed it. Then I was released to go home after that. I went home around 6:30pm. I didnt have any gas til about 2 hours ago. so I went to the grocery store with my hubby and walked around the store. I got gas meds, and some pads because I got my period today (just wonderful!) and some SF Popsicles. My throat has been dryyy all day and I keep sipping water all day. My darling has been sooo supportive all day for me. Thank god for him!!! I am scared to go to bed because I wasn't sure how painful it would be because I tend to toss around sometimes throughout the night. I will probably pack 2 pillows in between. I'm getting sleepy (from the pain meds) I'll be posting more this week. Laters! GOOD LUCK to those getting banded tmw, & this week! You'll do fine! Here's a picture of my stomach...

  21. I use low carb slim-fast choco and blend it with 1/2 c of milk (to loosen up the thickness) and some ice and 1 or 2 TB of peanut butter in blender. it's YUMMY! try it sometime this week. :tongue2: I need to buy the protein shake scoop by MaxMuscle- they have 30g of protein, 120 cal, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 1g fat. they're awesome too. i'm picky about the taste too.

  24. I got a call today from one of the nurses- they said I had to come in for 2nd blood-work cuz mine was past 60 days. At the same time I'll go in to see the anesthetist too. it's scheduled on the day before my surgery. Will I find out quickly if I'll be clear to go in surgery on the next day? I didn't want to be sucker to show up for surgery just to find I'm not cleared for it? I'm hoping I'll be cleared for Tues! I'm dying!!!! I fell off my pre-op diet today :*( I tried so hard not to... now I'm regretting it. *sigh* tomorrow's a new day...
