  1. I have found it so interesting for lack of a better word that one person can something and it doesn't bother them but another person can't eat it; I know that we are all different which explains it...I can eat steamed broccoli and carrots fine, but no Pasta. I think we tend to not chew pasta as much, so regardless it's a No food for me. I can eat whole wheat "hard or crusty" breads okay, but I have been trying not to eat bread much at all. Good luck,
  2. I think it's odd that all of us have the Realize Band and this happend to us, I too am a side sleeper, never thought about it, but, I was sleeping on my side in the hosptial right after surgery. After my port revision, which was on a Thursday or Friday I can't remember LOL , I went back to work on Monday. My Dr. told me the 2 clips had come loose and were not anchored in, this time he sutured them in.
  3. Just curious, do you have the Realize band?
  4. This happend to me; I was banded on Aug 5th, on Sept 27th, went for my first fill, it was under fluro as well; he tried at least 4 times, kept bending the needles. I had to have mine repaired, he did it as OP. It was another surgery, but it wasn't too bad. I go for another fill on the 17th. Good luck to you. :smile2:
  5. I hope your news comes back good. I had that happen to me, I had to have surgery to fix it, the surgery wasn't bad, I just hated to have more surgery. I have my 2nd fill on Nov 17th, I hope it gives me a little more restriction. Good luck to you.
  6. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with their fingernails peeling? I am eating healthy, I get in 60grms of protein/day, but have had some problems with my nails, breaking and just peeling. Any thoughts? Thanks :blushing:
  7. Hey there, I use the BodyBugg, and love it! I bought mine from QVC, it came with a watch, so that you can see through-out the day the number of calories you have burned, I love that I can see how many steps I have taken. I try for 10,000 each day; it has truly been worth the money. :blushing:
  8. Christi, I was banded on Aug 5th, my port flipped as well, I had surgery to fix it on the 26th of Sept. ( I think that was the date LOL) surgery was not bad, came home later that day, and I have done fine since. My doctor said that this time he sutured the port in place, before he said the "little anchors" that "hook into the muscle" had come loose. Good luck to you. I agree this was a little bump in the road. :puke:
  9. Well I am glad to hear her headache is better; now she just needs to get rid of the pneumona and she will be able to start her journey to her new life. Good luck to your son to, and tell him Thanks for serving our country.
  10. Congratulations! I know (sort of ) how you feel. Saturday, I actually went into the Regular section of the department store! I am glad it wasn't too busy, I wouldn't have wanted people to see me standing there looking like I was from another country or something, starring at the clothes LOL. I felt like I was in another country. I bought an XL blouse for the first time since I don't know when...and it felt great! Keep up the good work, I know you will meet your goal!
  11. I know I have seen this before, but couldn't find the post. Can someone tell me once I create the tracker, how do I get it into my signature? It says to copy and paste, but am I supposed to copy and paste the tracker picture or the web page info? Thanks guys
  12. Well I am an RN and the first thing that comes to my mind is the question is she drinking enough fluids. She should be drinking at least 64 oz per day, more if she can. I would also suggest (as an RN I am not giving med. advice only suggestions) that she try something like tylenol for pain, but I would make sure she is drinking enough, as others have said being dehyrdated can cause terrible headaches. Hope she feels better soon, keep in touch with her doctor.
  13. I know exactly what you mean, about the plane and crossing your legs. Gosh, so many things that most people take for granted. Good luck to all of us! Thanks for the well wishes :smile2:
  14. I am 52, I had lap band on Aug 5th, I have lost 33lbs so far, and feel great! Had my first fill on Sept 27th, my follow up appt is Oct 6th, my doctor and I have already talked about another fill in a couple of weeks. My husband is having lap band surgery on Oct 7th, we are looking forward to getting our lives back together. Keep in touch, and esp. give us the date for your surgery. :smile2:
  15. I eat 4oz of meat, and then add veggies. I only eat 1 cup of food at a time for a meal. So far, I have not been hungry between meals. I don't drink 20-30 mins. before eating and then 60 mins. afterwards, but there are sometimes I do have a sip or 2 of water when eating, I told my doctor this and he said that is fine, just don't drink a whole glass while you are eating.
  16. Today, for the first time in ...I don't know when. I shopped in the REGULAR ladies clothes section!!!! I tried on an XL top and it fit! I walked around and around, and thought to myself, WOW! I have missed shopping in the regular section where the cute clothes are, :smile2: Loved it!!!!!! Had to share with you guys, since I know most if not all of you can relate...or just wait you will!
  17. I went for my first fill last Thursday with my doctor, he was doing it under fluroscopy so he could see, (he likes to do this on the first fill) he couldn't get the needle in , he actually bent 3 or 4 of them, only to get a side view and my port had flipped upside down. I had a port revision yesterday, he did the fill while in there, he said this is unusaual but it does happen. Maybe, your doctor will be able to find it.
  18. I went today for my first fill, they were doing the fill under fluroscopy so that he could see the port well, and he said that with the first fill he can get a "tighter" fit. He tired 3 or 4 times to get the guidewire in, but it wouldn't advance and actually bent the wire, so, he asked for a sideview and there it was the port was upside down. He said that it doesn't happen often, and he had never had it happen with the Realize band before, so, next week I will have it fixed.
  19. Has anyone had their port to flip?
  20. Odd thing is for me, watching the Food network doesn't make me hungry...those darn food comercials now are another story. LOL
  21. I was banded on Aug. 5th, have lost 17lbs since then and 27 all together including pre-op diet. Tomorrow is my first fill, will I feel different right away?
  22. I am in too! Thanks
