Hey there everyone, ling ling and moonbeam, are you able to eat the same portion sizes as before? Lisa (banded on the 9th) is also able to eat pretty much everything she could eat before the surgery (she's had osso bucco and turkish pide with no problems though she hasn't tried steak or fresh bread). However, as scooby says, she finds she is not able to eat the same size portions as before. We went to the movies yesterday and she ordered a turkish pide filled with healthy stuff. When it came, she found she wasn't able to finish it (she ate 3/4 of it). Normally, we would eat an appetizer, then something like a pide plus a dessert. So, we're both feeling that she is doing ok 'cause even though she's eating everything, she can't eat as much of everything as she used to! Hey there, I was in a similar position for my surgery on 23 April. My pre-op diet was officially supposed to start the day my partner was banded (9th April). The pre-op diet was crucial for me as it was known that I had a moderately enlarged fatty liver (through CAT scans and ultrasound). I was ok until my partner had trouble keeping anything down after surgery and there was lots of running around back and forth to doctors (though we avoided the hospital). The stress of the situation made it hard for me to stay on track and I did cheat on a couple of days. I made sure I stuck to the program for the last few days and, fortunately, everything went ok with my own surgery. When I asked the surgeon about my liver, he said it was lumpy but he always knew it would be. So, my advice is don't stress too much about it but try to stay on track especially the last week. Hi there, I'm 3 days post surgery and don't have much gas pain anymore. Yes, walking and moving definitely helped the most - especially when I had acute gas pain). I also took charcoal tabs (separated by a minimum of 2 hours from other meds) and Maxolon (to keep nausea at bay but it works by increasing gastrointestinal motility so I figure that helped with getting rid of gas too). Good luck with your surgeries. Don't forget to let us know how you're doing after the procedure.

Hi everyone, Letting you all know I'm doing ok now after surgery on the 23rd. It has been a better recovery than expected and is much easier now that I can have full liquids (protein drinks, milk, yoghurt, smoothies, pureed soups, etc). Congrats to all the bandsters. Home now. Sam, you're right - The nursing care at the Avenue was top notch. I feel as though I've been kicked in the guts by a horse, I can't get comfortable no matter how I position myself, and my stomach is so bloated I look as though I'm ready to give birth (to twins). I'm already getting gas pain which are not pleasant. Great to hear that your husband has been supportive and helpful.

Hi guys, The deed is now done. I feel as though I've been kicked in the stomach by a horse and I am so bloated I look like I'm ready to give birth (to twins!). Every now and again the gas pain flares up - I feel it most in the tip of my left shoulder. Panadol (acetominophen aka paracetamol) and Maxolon (to keep nausea at bay) are my best friends. Hey Celtic Angel, Don't think there's a lot that can help bring on a period though an orgasm works for some! I had the opposite problem - my periods are never regular but of course I had to get my period on Wednesday night with surgery scheduled for Thursday. Has made the unpleasantness of the whole thing even more unpleasant!

Hi everyone, Checking in after surgery. Tummy's a bit sore (feels as though a horse has kicked me in the guts). Was nauseous when I woke up from surgery but that has passed. Have a few gas pains but the pain relievers help keep them under control. As I was leaving the hospital at 11am, I ran into loulou09 who is being being banded later this afternoon - all the best loulou - I'm thinking of you. Will write more when I feel up to it. Lili
