  1. My opinion, as you continue to cut out carbs, your skin will break out less and less. I think it is your system purging itself of yucky stuff, which comes out in your skin. I had the same reaction at the beginning of the hardest south beach phase which is good, low fat Proteins and very few carbs. Be patient, I bet in about 2 weeks your skin will look better than before. Good luck, and dont pick (I need to take my own advice)!:rolleyes2:
  2. June 5th for me also. I'm cautiously excited and nervous.
  3. Anyone know of or been to a support group in northern nj? HUMC lists they have one but it's not been updated so I have no idea if they still do it. Ideas welcome...
  4. UPDATED INFO: I did not have to do the 5 year weight loss statement. I had to: 6 month diet with office notes and letter from doctor supervising weight loss-I did Medifast, which sucked but works if you can tolerate it. psych eval-found my psych with google search.-cost me $200 for the testing and report (insurance did not cover, even though THEY require it. Would that be ironic or just stupid?), $10 co-pay nutritional eval-found my nutritionist with google search too. she sends a report to doctor $10 co-pay bariatric rehab class-at the local hospital, about what to expect and exercise. Pretty basic stuff. $55 seminar with surgeons-very informative-no cost Best of luck, and I hope I get approved soon!
  5. Hi everyone! I am looking to stock my exercise dvd library and wondered if you would share what your favorite exercise dvd is. Thanks!
  6. I have a chronic issue with this and my gastro doctor had me take miralax twice a day for a while. I take it once a day now, but you have to be patient. Once you start it can take 1 to 3 days to work. once it works, and you take it every day, it will work daily. good luck!
  7. Here are the active ingredients::thumbup: Midol Extended Relief contains naproxen sodium Midol Teen formula contains acetaminophen and pamabrom Midol Cramps and Body Aches contains ibuprofen Midol Menstrual Complete contains acetaminophen, caffeine, and pyrilamine You should probably stay away from Midol. I would try not to take any pain reliever unless your are in dire need. Hope you feel better soon!
  8. My doctor specifically NO DIET, make healthy choices, very small portions but do not make foods off-limits.
  9. As a sufferer of IBS-C (irritable bowel syndrome with constipation) I take Miralax every day. It takes a little time to work, but it works without cramps or other embarassing symptoms. It is tasteless and can be mixed with any liquid. Good luck, and thanks for the heads up or should I say "bottoms up"?:crying:
  10. Hi! I didn't know where to post this question, but when you reach your weight goal, what happens then? Is the band left as is, adjusted? What kind of diet do you follow when you get there, same? Thanks for your help! Melliecat
  11. very funny about denying sex...I will think about that one!
  12. hi, all! Any advice for me? My husband is dead set against me getting a lap band, for all the typical reasons: surgery is dangerous, I will cheat, I will be miserable, blah blah blah. Do I try to convince him, or just go with my instincts and have the band? He said he will support me, whatever my decision. I have no idea how to proceed. Right now I am scheduled for a consultation and have requested the paperwork from doctors for insurance. Thanks for reading my post!
  13. Hi; I have tried multiple times to get the horizon bc/bs reps to send me the policy and requriements for bariatric surgery and have gotten nowhere. Here is a link to the application the doctor fills out, and lo and behold, there are the requirements. Happy surfing... http://www.horizon-bcbsnj.com/SiteGen/Uploads/Public/horizon_bcbsnj/pdf/3684.pdf
  14. Hi! I am new, so forgive me if this thread has been posted before. I am in the process of getting LapBand surgery and wanted to know how I can take Cymbalta after surgery. Does anyone know if it comes in a liquid or if the pills are small enough to be swallowed (about the size of a rapid release tylenol). Also, will the pills dissolve as they are supposed to? Thanks for any info you can give me!
