  1. Whoo hooo, Congratulations!! I was banded 3/11 and I love it. I drank the Isopure instead of the shakes. Its a clear liquid in a 20 oz bottle, it comes in different flavors and it has no sugar and 40 grams of protein per bottle. You can get it at GNC, and it tastes really good over ice. Good Luck!!
  2. I had my surgery on 3/11. I had a hiatal hernia also, but the Dr released me after 2 weeks with restrictions, but my job consists of lifting and repetitious movement, and I couldn't go back, so he put me out for another 2 weeks. I guess it depends on what you do for work.
  3. Hey Knewme, well maybe you will come out of your shell once you start losing and feeling better about yourself. I was the same way when i was married, I never let him know how much I weighed or what size i was shopping for. He didn't have a problem with the weight, but I did! But that was probably growing up in a family where I was 7yrs old and on diet pills because my grandmother didn't want a fat grandchild, and the name calling I endured as a kid from FAMILY MEMBERS. I have been banded only since 3/11/09 and its one of the best decisions I've made, I just wish it was available 20 years ago when i was at my highest 300lbs. But over the years losing slowly on my own with different diets and exercising, I have been able to feel a little more comfortable in my own skin. I have told people-my friends and family-and haven't gotten any grief. Too bad if they don't like it, there's always a Hater in the group. But, like someone else mentioned, I see it as hopefully helping someone else that's in my shoes that thinks there isn't any hope of ever losing weight. Good Luck with your Journey!:tongue_smilie:
  4. What are "slider foods?" Ive heard the term used a couple times... thanks
  5. Hey there! Keep up the good work!! you are doing great. I was banded March 11 and lost 4 from the pre op ( 6 days) and 18 from the surgery. I won't be release for work for another 2 weeks (i have a real physical job) but I went back to my college classes. After class my first day the maintenance man stopped me and asked me if I lost weight! lol I love when people notice, that's my motivation. :tongue_smilie:
  6. I'm 2 weeks post op right now and i just got to start some mushy food and boooyyy, was it awesome! For some reason I was craving Grits, so that was the first thing I ate. I pureed some black beans tonight and I was in heaven! Don't get me wrong, I still crave my Chili's and Chinese Food, but the pounds are coming off and that's my motivation. Good luck... it gets better:thumbup:
  7. Hi there,,,, well at my pre op class, we were given a booklet from our Dr that has been like my bible. It tells everything from where to go to check in on surgery day to the different diets I'll be on after surgery. We met with a nutritionist, and a support counselor also. We talked about all the pre-op tests also. I would call your Dr's office and ask whats gonna happen at your meeting. Good Luck!
  8. Anyone from this area that would like to get together for friendship, support or excercising???:cursing:
  9. lol sneeze? thats cute. I get the hiccups myself, but im a newbie, so that may change.
  10. Any banders from this area who would be interested in getting together for new friends, support, excercising??? :cursing:
  11. I have the same exact thing you are describing. I talked to my Dr., well the nurse called me back and said that its probably the muscles healing from being manipulated from surgery. She said there's a lot of pulling and tugging going on during surgery. I have my follow up on Thursday and will definitely ask the Dr about it. Hope this helped.
  12. I was banded 2 weeks ago today and last night i slept alittle on my stomach, it was awesome! I'm still alittle sore, but nothing major, and had not prob. Hope this helped.
  13. You will be fine, I didnt have to take that, so im sure it will work out. Good Luck with your surgery tomarrow! Let us know how u are feeling when you are up to it.
  14. Hey there... Yes i know exactly what you are talking about. I love food, I love going out to eat and I also eat under emotional stress. Im a single Mom with a 6 year old, I work with a bunch of men that talk to you like your a man, with a very stressfull job. I go to school practically full-time also. I was banded on 3/11 and have been doing well. Yes, I miss my Quesadias from Chili's,lol but i just keep looking to the future and tell my self how much better I am going to feel and look. I love positive attention and when I lose weight, I use that praise as a form of motivation. It was the best decision I made, regardless of the pain and the shakes, lol, its worth it!! Good luck with your journey and make sure you surround yourself with POSITIVE people that will support you.
  15. I have only been banded since 3/11/09 and haven't experienced losing weight or hitting plats. yet with it, but any other time i lost major weight and hit a plat., I stepped up my exercising plan and went back in my journal and started over with some of my diet habits from then. Good Luck you are doing great!!
  16. i was allowed surgar free pudding and sugar free popsicles, I drank Isopure, sugar free tea and coffee. Hope this helps, good luck with your surgery.
  17. Are you going to be on a partial layoff, where u will be laid off for a short time and go back to work, or a Full Layoff? I know what ur going through. I have been on partial layoff since last October, working a week or 2 then being laid off for 2. But, when ur on partial u keep your insurance coverage, just when you go back they double up on ur premiums. I explained what was going on with my surgeon and they expedited everything for me. The day I called my insurance co to see if I was approved, my Dr did too and had me scheduled for surgery 5 days later. Maybe if you talk to who is in charge of scheduling your appts they can speed things up for you. Good Luck!
  18. Regardless of where this crap happends, she is just getting the word out. Id prob use an alias too, to keep peeps from leaving me a thousand questions on my profile about what happend.
  19. for example.... bob marley... a stick lol lol good one
  20. I drank and still do the Isopure. Im not big on the shakes. The Isopure is clear liquid, comes in dif flavors and can get them at GNC for about 5$ for a 20oz bottle. Oh yeah, and they are 40gms of protein and 0 sugar.
  21. HI, no i haven't but I posted a thread about " how do you know u have a slipped band" and thats what they said happens (what you described). Have u talked to your dr?? Hope everything works out for you and its nothing serious.
