day 5 liquid diet, starving

I'm needing helpful ideas on the liquid diet. I was told clear broth, jello, and the recommended shake. What else can I "drink". :crying:

I'm on day five of my liquid diet too. Band date 3-31-09. The dietician told us we were able to have 5 carrots 5 radishes and 5 celery sitcks a day on top of our liquids and shakes. To help me I made soup with the veggies and broth. I added fresh parsley. Also as a part of my liquid diet I have soup packets so once a day I add that to the soup I make it's actually pretty good. I hope this helps a little. Just remember atleast 4 days before your surgery don't add the veggies to anything, don't eat them at all.

You'll do great! This is the hard part and you're almost there.

i was allowed surgar free pudding and sugar free popsicles, I drank Isopure, sugar free tea and coffee. Hope this helps, good luck with your surgery.

Ooooh I remember those days! LOL I was banded on march 3rd. I found that adding a little lemon pepper seasoning to it will make the chicken broth a little more tasty.

DAY 5 FOR ME, TOO

Hi There, i might be having the most unusual experience on my all liquid journey. I am being banded April 1st so this is day 5 for me. I haven't had true hunger pangs yet.

I admit, the moment I got my date, my desire for food just shut down.

$1.50 EACH -- I am drinking Atkins shakes - 15g protein and 9g fat so only 3 a day.

$2.95 EACH - Then there is this whopping protein drink called Met Rx (check out www.vitacost.com) that is 51g in 15 oz with 1g fat, 6 carbs 2 sugars. I have at least one of these a day when i'm feeling the most hungry.

$1.82 EACH - I thnk what is saving me is what I am sipping on throughout the day. I purchased cold powdered drinks from Physician's Weight Loss Center (www.pwlc.com) that are 8oz packages with 12g protein, 0 fat, 1 carb, 1 sugar. I take 3 packages and dissolve them into a 24oz water bottle and drink that throughout the day. I easily get that down since my mouth is so dry. That's 36 grams of protein. If you purchase 6 or more boxes the cost drops to about $1.82 for 1 packet.

Today I had a slight moment of hunger at 2pm and again at 5pm. i think i'm bored more than anything, not quite realizing how much time i spent eating. I hope I was able to help in some way.

and feel free to contact me if you want more help. i'm just as new as you are, though, but we can lead each other. good luck!

oh and one more thing, i wasn't given any food alternatives - not even a sugar free popsicle. and for me, this might be good -- maybe it is all or nothing for me -- like a food addict.....

I have to say now that today is almost over, it was probably the best day on my diet. I did have some hunger pains but not bad and the shakes did help. I also only had one bowl of the broth w/ celery and carrots. I'm hoping it has been a better day for you Jo and that tomorrow is even better!
