  1. Hi Deb, Welcome to the world of other broken people. 1 the weight seems to come of in the inverse order that it went on. 2 everyone loses hair but it comes back. 3 Don't know if it's slower but I think it's healthier. 4 I had my gallbladder tested and it was OK and its still with me 17 months out 5 They will be the size they were when you were last that weght, they may be hanging several inches lower however, depending on age  Jane x
  2. I hope you feel better soon, sounds like they know what to do. Jane x
  3. I take sublingual B12 from Healthy Direct. I also take calcium citrate every day. I just had the results of a bone density scan and I am 92% of the age matched mean, which is normal with very minor osteopaenia. I have been post menopausal for 14 years which is unusual for a 52 year old, so I think I am doing pretty well under the circumstances. I also take generic multivit, high dose Vit D, Q10, marine collagen, milk thistle, Omega 3, CLA and grapefruit seed extract. I may well be a junky!! Jane x
  4. Atkins rocks IMHO. You don't feel hungry like you do on low fat diets. Jane x
  5. Hi Julie, For me food appreciation did return, just not the need to eat loads of it. In the beginning though I felt just like you, food was not pleasurable in any way, just a necessary function. Now I feel pretty normal, except I can't eat very much of it so I am very choosy about what I do eat, all good quality and nutritional and tasty. So please don't be sad, just wait it out and enjoy the lightness of being. Jane x
  6. Hi Mary, you can email me at jane.jackman@nrjconsulting.co.uk. It took me about a year to go from pre-op diet to normal BMI, so thats BMI 40.5 down to 25. My BMI is now 22ish and the last few pounds down to target took till August this year but I was partying and drinking quite hard!! I would be missing the girls but we have one back with us as she has tonsillitis, had a marathon drive from Aylesbury to Portsmouth yesterday to pick her up :crying: All the best, Jane
  7. I believe the new hospital is very swish, but when I went they were using a smaller place in Brno. From what others have said it is a tremendous upgrade to a larger and newer facility. Wonder if Cosmetic Bliss would send some pics? Your husband could catch up on sleep and reading in Brno, is's pretty quiet from what I could see. Jane x
  8. Hi and thanks. I feel so much better too. I am sure the tream will take good care of you. This site takes some getting used to but it's worth it, I have had such good advice here, and moral support in bucket loads! Jane x
  9. Brilliant, sounds like it's all going well. Jane x
  10. I would choose neither and appeal. Good luck. Jane x
  11. Why is he doing this to you? If he was my brother I would tell him to butt out if he can't be supportive. I would avoid them till after the op, don't let them derail you. Jane x
  12. LOL!!! Hope you are out now. Jane x
  13. Brilliant and in only 8 months! Well done you. Jane x
  14. Hi I went to Dr Cierny in Czech Republic via Cosmetic Bliss for a VSG is May 2009. I can thoroughly recommend them, I have been extremely happy with the treatment and the outcome, and the price is very reasonable. I was not worried about going to the Czech Republic because we had a few Czech au pairs when the kids were little and they were all intelligent and kind. I too am 52 and my skin has not been too bad, although I have lost over 8 stone! I think my twin pregnancy did more damage than the obesity to be honest. I take marine collagen tablets each evening to help my skin repair and I also used bio oil on my tummy for the scars which are now invisible. Dr Cierny will explain anything you want to know when you are there, and Michael and Deborah can help beforehand. They are very knowledgeable, Michael has had a VSG himself. Hope this helps. Jane x
  15. Titanium does not give any problems with MRIs or airport scanners, it doesn't cause reactions in the body either hence it's use medically. Please don't worry about it. Jane x
  16. Emma, it's probably nothing but it's always worth asking your doctor, especially if you feel breathless, in which case you should go to A&E. I had all sorts of pains afterwards and my hypochondriac mind played all sorts of tricks on me, but it is better to be safe rather than sorry. Jane x
  17. Ha you should try the UK! It's only September and I am already wearing thermal socks and layers of jumpers!! And weirdly when I do get warm finally it quickly tips into being too hot. My internal thermostat is so confused. Worst thing is the cold nose though, I am thinking of inventing a woolly nosewarmer and marketing them on eBay. Jane x :wink1::wink1: Brrrrrrr.....
  18. Hi Ninaboo, tell the doctor is you wish, but the time you have is way enough to deplete your liver of glycogen, which will decrease its size enormously. Many people have this op with no preop diet at all so don't worry too much. Jane x
  19. Tiff. we are about at the same point in the process and I 100% agree with you. I am older than you so the baby thing is way past me and I wish you all the luck in the world with this, if anyone deserves this happiness you do darling. I am continually impressed by your willingness to help others, you are a treasure. Jane x
  20. Its slow at first give it time. Jane x
  21. Emma, really glad it went well. Look forward to hearing how you get on now. I will be travelling to Dublin more now as one of my daughters just started at Trinity so maybe I can buy you a low cal guinness when your tum has healed  Jane x
