  1. hi everyone... so i had my post-op on monday.. completely frustrating. according to my scale i've lost 20 lbs and was down to 194. I didn't eat or drink anything but when they weighed me at the dr.'s office, according to their scale i weighed 200 lbs... i burst into tears and the nurse was like "oh you're doing good... why are you crying?"... it was just so frustrating because on surgery date i was 207 and i'm only down 7 lbs... i said "i haven't eaten a meal in 4 weeks... if i can't lose weight on liquids how am i supposed to lose weight when i start eating solid food again"... then i met with the dietitician, she asked if i was having remorse about the surgery and i said i wasn't, i was just disappointed because of the difference in the scales... so we talked for while and she said for me to keep a food chart for 2 weeks and come back to see her. so far keeping a food chart has helped with the temptation to cheat... i won't lie though, it's 11 pm and i really want something to eat. oh well... must be time to go to bed! guess i need to change my ticker... man that sucks.

thanks everyone for your input... ask my surgeon that's cute... i'm not sure how everyone else's surgeon is, but i had my 2 week post-op on monday and my surgeon spent about 32 seconds with me.. in fact told me to follow him to the dietitcian as i was still asking him questions... it was a little frustrating, but i forgot to ask her. i'm not much of a drinker myself, but it's one of those things that once someone tells me i can't do it or have it, that becomes the thing i want! :-)

    Frustrated Dr. Clark Southside Indy??

yeah, that would be great if you would keep me informed. I actually live on the northeast side of Indy, so if you find any near Geist or Castleton, that would be good to know as well. thanks for your help. have a great day!

    Frustrated Dr. Clark Southside Indy??

wow... i have been thinking the same things about the "support" groups, although I did go to the cooking class one and the nutritionalist said that the next one will be "hosted" by the counselor so hopefully it will be more helpful. it seemed that i was losing about a pound a day but all of a sudden i stepped on the scale last night and it 'appears' that i've gained a pound or two. dr. clark. i hope that this whole experience will be a positive one i don't know what to think of the staff at the weight loss clinic... i guess for them it really is just a job and maybe we're expecting too much for them to actually "care"... maybe not, i have no idea. I guess we just need to support one another and care for each other... if you need someone to vent to... my email is snereb27@yahoo.com, we'll just have to stick together!
  5. i was feeling really good after my surgery (3/30), however, I went to the movie on tuesday and during the movie, i got a sharp pain in my left shoulder. Once I stood up, it lessened. however, every since then, when I sit for too long or when I take a deep breath, i feel the pain again. I talked to a doctor tonight at a support group and he said I needed to talk to my surgeon, but it may be my diaphram pushing Fluid in my lungs up into my shoulder. i do not feel the pain when i'm laying down nor when i'm standing. he said to call my doctor's nurse tomorrow (4/10), but i see my surgeon on monday (4/13) so unless it gets worse, I'll probably just wait until then to talk to him. anyone else experienced this type of pain?
  6. sounds like you're doing well. i'm good... i went to the movie tonight with a friend and about half way into the movie, i got a pain in my shoulder that would not go away until i was home and laying down again... i wonder if some of my sitting pain is due to the fact that i'm so short? who knows... i'm really doing good other than random pains.

i still have to remind myself to eat, i have always had the problem of waiting until i'm starving to eat... like today, even though i got up and moving around 8 am, i didn't have my first protein shake or anything to eat until 4 pm... why i wait, is beyond me. i guess i will need to make an appointment with the nutritionist.

anyway, glad you have the extra time off, my 2 week follow up is the 13th also, but i'm scheduled to go back to work on the 14th. we'll see if i'm ready or not! :-)

    have a great day!

  7. Thank you peascorps for the information! i guess i need to just get up and walk a little more so that sitting won't be as uncomfortable!
  8. i was banded 3/30, i feel pretty good for the most part, but has anyone else noticed that if you sit for too long, it's painful? i went to church Wednesday night and today, and rode in a car yesterday, but after a couple of hours of sitting, i'm really uncomfortable. also i still have a lot of gas... how long will that last? is it still from the anesthesia or is it just from having a smaller pouch? i still have a nagging pain in my back under my left shoulder blade that i'm assuming is from the anesthesia. any thoughts??? thanks for any input. ps... stupid question, but how do i update my weightloss ticker???
  9. i'm doing pretty good... i've been walking a lot and for the most part i'm ok.. .until my dogs accidentally step on my tummy. I have to force myself to eat anything and have yet to eat 3 meals, but it's ok.

i have noticed that i'm cold alot.. especially my hands but hopefully that won't last forever. And riding in a car is really uncomfortable for now. i took off my nausea patch so that may have had something to do with not feeling well after riding in a car.

i am taking pain meds, but only a couple times a day now. i am really doing very good and am excited about everything. i think i'm still swollen a little and seem to have to burp all the time. but i was told that was part of the ansthesia.

have you weighed yourself yet? I have to really be careful not to weigh myself several times a day... but i have lost 11lbs since surgery. so that makes me happy. :-)

keep me posted on how you're doing... take care.

  11. HI there... how are you feeling? I had my surgery on monday, i feel pretty good, but i really just want to sleep all the time! i did walk outside yesterday about a 1/4 mile.. maybe a little longer, it felt good. but it's uncomfortable to ride in a car.

have you moved on to more solid food? I can't hardly bring myself to eat or drink anything.

  12. hi there... my surgery was postponed because i had an infection in my leg. i'm rescheduled for tomorrow (3/30). hopefully it won't be postponed again.

    preventing surgery?

I have cellulititis in my leg, will that prevent them from doing my surgery?
  14. My question is for the ladies... has anyone noticed that once they lost their weight that unwanted facial hair also went away or am I just stuck with it forever? I was told that with my PCOS that as I lose weight the level of testosterone that i produce as a woman will lessen and therefore won't have a problem with facial hair. Has anyone noticed this with their weightloss?
  15. Thanks... i'm excited too. are you in indy?

    Frustrated Dr. Clark Southside Indy??

thanks bioteacher and jujuvee.. i hope this is a positive experience for me. I was at the nutrition class yesterday, i was sitting in the front row at the table by myself. i was a little intimidated after the class, but just need to keep reminding myself I can do this.... it will be hard, but necessary to get healthy. it will be helpful when i start going to the support groups, the whole process has been so quick for me, which i'm glad for, but at times is a little overwhelming since i'm alone in this endeavor. thanks for the encouragement though! :-)
