  1. Thanks,B_G and Ima for the comments, I have been wanting to do this for some time just haven't taken the time. Sometimes I lose my focus on things so I thought this would be a good way to keep me on track. So when I go to the Dr., I will post here what I have done !

  2. I need a place to put my numbers in so I can keep track of where I've been and where I want to go. Sometimes when I feel down, I need to just look at the good work that I've done and that will help me feel like I'm doing something right !

  3. Hey BG, hang in there !! Just remember where you were when you had the LB and think about where you could be if you didn't have it ! It WILL be o.k. !! Good luck on your Dr. visit, I can't get another fill until July 2. Together, we will all make it to the promised land !!

  4. It is now been 2 months since my surgery and everything is going o.k. I haven't lost a big amount of weight but I knew when I started this journey, that this is the way LB works. As long as I lose, no matter how small the loss, I will be o.k. with that. I have lost 34 pds. and you know, really that is a pretty good start! But I think that the most important thing is that I'm learning some things on this journey. I have learned that I can make good food choices, even when I eat out, I have been trying new foods and you know what, they're not that bad! (Example) I'm from the South and as you might know, we fry EVERYTHING down here, I have learned grilled or baked fish isn't bad at all! I have learned, also, that I don't have to have something sweet to eat!! I still eat something sweet every now and then, but I don't go overboard with it! I have learned how to eat without bread, although to be honest with you, I still have a problem with hush puppies! So I don't make them too often! But, all in all, this has been a learning experience for me and as long as I'm losing, I going to enjoy all the compliments and the cloths that I can, finally, wear AGAIN!!

  5. OMG!!!! I am soooo glad you brought this up cause I thought I was the only one in this whole wide world with this problem!! I, too, am the strong, silent type but now!! Have you ever heard the saying that you can't walk and chew gum at the same time? Well, sometimes I can't walk without sounding like a chainsaw or something!!! Thats when I start a conversation with who ever I'm with! And you NEVER know when it's going to happen!! Now thats scarey!!

  6. Hey B_G, Hurray on your first fill!! Sounds like yours went really well!! Mine was really easy, too!! Although, I didn't have to do any acrobatic stunts, I just had to tighten my stomach muscles. He probably knew if he put me in that position, I wouldn't be able to walk out of that office!! I still have no restriction but I am able to eat only small amounts. I go back on July 2, for another fill so MAYBE then I will get some restriction!!

  7. Good Morning! I agree with Minn Lady, I was banded on April 6 and don't regret one moment of it!! I have had one fill and get the next one in July. The weight has been slower coming off than the other surgery but it has been a healthier way of coming off! I also have sister that had the gastric and she, too, lost her husband, some of her family, almost died because she kept on smoking and developed an ulcer in her small stomach, now she is also drinking, and not mentioned how unhealthy she looks! It is all in how you use the band, you can eat around it or you can use it to help you get to where you want to be! The other surgery has rules also but I think they are more harsher!! You need to read a blog by BAND_GROUPIE, the name of the blog is " Ride the Magic Band ". She got the band in April and she is just now starting in her journey and has really put in words what we all are feeling. Keep me updated on how you are doing! And remember, the Dr. can not make the decision for you, follow your heart!!!

  8. Ditto to all the comments on your blog!! You do have a way with words!! I have been a diet of some kind all my adult life and I don't know if it's my age( a YOUNG 56 ) but all those diets have gotten me no where but on my way to 250 pds!! And I'm only 5'2"!! I was always searching for the " perfect " diet!! And it was always the next best diet that would finally work for me! In recent years, everyone has been talking about lifestyle changes and that's the perfect solution! We have to get our heads fixed first before we can fix the rest of us!! It's like building a house ( my husband was a carpenter ) if you don't do the ground work and get a good foundation, everything will fall down! It all starts with the way we are thinking in our heads!! I have learned to take one day at a time!! Keep up the good work, you do inspire the rest of us!!

  9. I remember my first ticket, I was 15 and living in Phoenix, Arizona. I don't remember what I was driving but I sure remember the cop that stopped me!! It was his first ticket to write, and his trainer had to tell him how to write it out!! He was as scared as I was !! The old car I was in didn't have turn signals so I had to stick out my arm, up for one direction, down for another and then straight out for something else!! I don't even remember those, but that's why I got pulled over, they couldn't see my arm!!! I just wonder if he cried as hard as I did?

  10. OH MY GOD !!! You are TOOOOO funny!! My daughter bought a WII Fit and she has told me some of the things it does to you but I'll bet she does'nt know about the back-stabbing, tattle tail, breaking up the entire family unit MII !! I'm going to have to let her read your blog!!!

  11. Hey there,B_G, thanks for the comment on my blog! You are a very sweet and kind person to take the time to encourage the rest of us the way you do!I don't blog very often, because of time and work, so I think I will maybe try to do it once a month. I am so glad you had a great Mother's Day, you deserve it!!

  12. Well, it's been a little over a month since i have been banded and I don't regret one day of it! When I first started this journey, I really didn't think I would be approved and when I was approved, things really started moving fast then! About one wk. before surgery, I began having second thoughts like " What are you doing? " and if you would just try harder, you could do this yourself. But , you know I have been over weight for the last 35 yrs. and if I could have done this on my own, I would have done it 34 yrs. ago! So I am so glad that I have done this, because, even one month out, I already feel better, health wise and I feel better about myself! I am a happier person now! And now that I have had this banding, I know I can do this because I have help, if I work at it, it won't just drop off without some effort on my part![/url]

  13. Hey There B_G, DB here! I've been playing catch up on your blogs and I have to tell you, I went thru the same thing! No energy, weak, and just plain tired!! And as I went to the mushies, it got better ( I went in them after 2 wks. of liquids ) then I went on reg. foods, my energy level came up and now at 4 wks post-op, I feel normal again. But I'm like you, I don't think your getting enough protein, even when I was on liquids, I drank about 2 protein drinks a day. It WILL get better!!

  14. Someone found me out!! But that's o.k. I teach 5-8 yr. olds on Wednesday nights at Church and of course. I didn't feel good on that night so I called an older lady to take my place and my grandson ( Bless his heart! ) requested prayer for me cause I had surgery and I was cut all the way from my stomach to my leg!! Well, you can imagine her reaction! She began asking questions and of course, my daughters wouldn't say anything! Well, we had a Ladies meeting last night, I still didn't go, and Dear Sis. Doll, just would not let it drop!! She began asking my girls more questions and there was no way out of it, they had to tell ( after all, they were in Church, and we all know how God feels about not telling the truth!! ) so after everyone discussed my well being, it was time for a little confessing! Come to find out, the same lovely Sis. Doll, has a sister that goes to our little

Church, and she is just beautiful!! She is so tiny and petite, classy, and so cute, well she had by-pass about 30yrs. ago! She kept telling her sister,Doll, to hush up, that it is a personal decision and it was the best decision she had ever made in her life!! So IN YOUR FACE, Sis. Doll, I really do love her, but she just needs to know when to leave things alone!! :rolleyes2:

  15. Good Morning All !! Well I'm on day 3 and I'm still a little sore but I know that will get better with time! I did sleep better last night, I wasn't awake at 3:00 in the morning, so that is a definite improvement! I'm off the clear liquid and on to full liquid, cream soups, protein drinks, cream of wheat(YUM YUM!!!!) but I guess if your hungry enough, you'll eat just about anything(except for cream of wheat!) But this morning, I woke up with a headache so I had protein drink with a Tylenol crushed up in it. Not to bad!! I did take my bandages off yesterday and the staples really didn't look as bad as I had imagined! I think maybe there are about 15 and some of Thom are lose now so it won't be bad when they come out. Thanks, LL and Cali for the kind words, I guess you can say I'm sort of a baby when it comes to things like this, or that's what my family says!! Well I've gotta run for now, talk to ya later!!

    :rolleyes2:

  16. :rolleyes2: Hey everyone!! I'm out of the hospital, my hubby wanted me stay all night instead of coming home so I got home yesterday around 1:00p.m. I didn't wake up from recovery until 6:00 p.m. and he was nervous about me coming right after, so I stayed and was stuck with needles all night, checked my tempt all night, came in and, honestly, woke me up just to find out if I was in any pain!! So, why would I want go home and miss out on all that!! But I guess they were just doing their job! But anyway, so far I've not been sick and no problems with the gas built up. I've been walking around quite abit and I think that helps a whole lot! I'll be on liquids again today and then tomorrow, I'll be on soft foods. I go back Tuesday to get my staples out, I kinda dread that, I never had staples before! :cursing: But "they" say that their better than stitches, I just hope "they" know what their talking about!
