  1. Hello fellow bandsters! I was banded in 2009, I have had great success with my band, it is me that I have had trouble with over the last several months! I have regained about 35 of the 125 I had lost and now want to get back on track. I am wantnng to try the 5 day pouch test, and have not found any specific instructions for doing so. If you have done the 5 day pouch test, would you please share what you drank and ate during the 5 days? Thanks so much!

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Yes, losing over 100 is very doable, but you must work at it, the band is just a tool after all. I had lost 120 before my first year was up by working very hard on this new way of life. I have "fallen off the wagon" a few times, only to pick myself up, dust myself off and get back on track. Good luck and best wishes to all! =))

    To unfill or not??? Scared....

Thanks so much, I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post.......UPDATE...... Finally got a call back yesterday from my lap band surgeons office, and they said it was "required" to unfill my band if I am having surgery and going under. I so totally disagree. I have had more than just a few major surgeries and have never had any problems being put to sleep or coming out of it...ever. Told her I was still paying off the last fill I had done this past October. I think they want me to have it unfilled just so I will have to come back and have it refilled! =( I am having a hysterectomy and my GYN knows I have the band and thus far has not mentioned having an unfill. I am so torn, I NEED to have the surgery, just not sure I am willing to have my band unfilled. What to do........
  4. I am having surgery in a few weeks, and want to know if I HAVE to have my band unfilled? I am finally at my "sweet spot" and scared to death of having it taken away! Have any of you had surgery since being banded and did you have you band unfilled or not? Thanks for your support! =))
  5. Congratulations on your decision!! I was banded in February 2009 and have never looked back. However, I too did not want "everyone" to know, so I told only my immediate family (some, not all of them either!! :smile2:) and a few friends that I knew would support me and respect my privacy. Now that I am this far out, I do tell others about my surgery if they ask, especially those that are struggling with weight issues themselves. I stress to all that I WORK at this on a daily basis, it is NOT the easy way out. By making lifestyle changes, better food choices, portion control and exercise, I have finally been able to have my life back. Having said all that, we all need support, it is not easy, some days a just better than others. Best of luck, let us know how you are doing and by all means, however you decide to chart YOUR journey, it will be the right way for YOU. Ann :blushing:

    Extremely frustrated. Need motivation back!

I am soooo glad I found this thread today. I was banded in February 2009. I lost over 100 before my 1year anniversary. I was(am) so proud of myself. By June of this year I had lost 120 pounds. Somehow between June and now, I have totally lost all motivation and have regained 20 pounds! I think that I have let life get in my way and have "forgotten" WHY I got my band in the first place. Today begins my journey again......:puke: I have a call in to my doctors office to go in and have a check up as well as discuss another band fill. I wish each of you tremendous success on your own journey and thanks for the thread, again, it was exactly what I needed today! Ann =)

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Yes, Lizalee, it is so very easy to fall back into old eating habits. Ice cream and potato chips go down VERY easily!! I am still over the 100 pounds gone markm but have regained about 12 poubds......I am NOT happy with myself. I have got to get back in "the zone" of following the rules and taking care of myself. Continued success to all....=))

    Food Addict

I soooo agree! I too think that most all of us here are food addicts.... Beating an addiction takes dedication and attention, it won't just go away if ignored or thought to be "overcome". It is a daily effort to make the right choices and to keep motivated, or at least it is for me. I have become very lax on my journey in the last few months and the scale is telling on me. That is why I am back here, for the support I need (we all need) to stay on task. I wish each of you success on your own journey! Keep on coming back here to continue to stay motivated and inspired along the way........ Ann
  9. WONDERFUL post, just what I needed to see! I was banded 2-2009 and had GREAT success.....until I started getting lax about 3 months ago! Of the original 120 pounds I had lost, I have regained about 9! NOOOO....... Okay, so I am recommitting to exercising like I was, journaling and getting outside support (hence, my posting on here too)! I have not had a band fill in months, so it is probably time to call the doctors office and make an appointment for another fill. Thanks to all of you that are helping me to get back on track too! Good luck and best wishes to all of us! Ann :rolleyes2:

    Not your typical Success story

WOW!! I am so happy that you are in such a GREAT place right now!! Keep that positive attitude and you WILL achieve even greater feats!! Congratulations and the very best of wishes on your continued journey! :rolleyes2:
  11. Congrats Pipedoc!! It's a GREAT feeling isn't it?? Keep it up, you and I will both reach our goals before we know it!

    I'm feeling depressed.

I totally agree with what everyone has said so far. You are more than likely just fine....however, be sure and follow whatever guidelines YOUR doctor has given you. I remeber being a little "freaked" out about every little thing in the beginning, but in time you will become very comfortable with your new band and your new lifestyle. Welcome to the rest of your life!!
  13. Yes, yes, yes!! Best thing I have ever done "just for me"! I feel better mentally and physically than I have have in YEARS!! =) It does take work and dedication, but it is so worth it.

    The Day has Come!!

Interesting, think I will check my insurance as well....they paid for my band surgery. Worth looking into, however, I do have a hernia that needs to be fixed, so I was thinking that while they are in there...may as welll do a tummy tuck and my bat wings! I am started to get excited about having that done! Hope you all enjoy this beautiful weekend!!

    The Day has Come!!

That is WONDERFUL!! :frown: Congratulations!! I am starting to think about what I want to have done, had surgery February 5, 2009 and am down 118 pounds. I am curious to know how you got your insurance to cover it. Hope I am not too nosey, but I am hoping that my insurance would at least cover some of my surgery! Thanks so much, and again, congratulations on getting your date!! I know you must be very excited!! =)

    Sharing my PS results...pics.

WOW!! You do look amazing! I am almost a year out and starting to really think about PS. Do you think your family in Columbia would be interested in renting rooms out so that some of us could go there and have work done?? LOL.....bet they could make some good money, all thanks to you!! Again, you are a true inspiration. Best wishes on continued success!
  17. Well, what I do is do 30 minutes of "something" every morning before anyone else is up. I prefer my Wii Fit, however, I have other videos I work with too. When the weather is nice I will go run for 30 minutes. I have simply had to make my weight loss a priority, or else it would not get done. I too am a busy mom with 2 children, husband and high stress full time job. It is not easy, but it can be done. I was banded in February of this year and have lost 109 pounds, so I know it's hard, but very doable. Good luck and do this for YOU!! =)

How much in your first year?

Hi everyone.....I have been very pleased with my weight loss until very recently. I was banded 2-9-09, so I am about 7 1/2 months out and have lost 101 pounds! The last three weeks, I have not lost one single pound, but I have really slacked off on my exercising routines, so it's all my fault. May even be time for another fill. Got to stick with the exercising and keep up with your fills! Just stay focused, and you will reach your goal, whatever that may be! Good luck!! :blushing:

  21. Just wondering if anyone has used the Gazelle Freestyle wirh thumbpulse?? I am looking at the one online from Wal-Mart for $170. If you have used it, do you like it? Why or why not? I am looking for additional low pact exercise equipment and saw this one....... Thanks!!

    100 pounds GONE!!!

Congratulations!! I can hardly wait until I can say that I too have lost 100 pounds. When I started this journey back in February, I knew that I could, but it seemed like a dream, well, that dream is just about to come true and it is so very exciting!! Wa-Hoo!! I feel so good....mentally and physically! Best wishes to all and keep it up, some days are better than others.

New to all this.. live in Richmond, VA

Hey there Tory! Welcome to the journey of a lifetime!! Yes, I totally understand about being scared, it's a BIG decision, mental as well as physical....but soooo worth it all. In addition to the two tests you mentioned, I had to have a stress test and sonogram of my heart (not had any problems with my heart, guess they were just concerned). Anyway, passed all those with flying colors and have not looked back. I continue to exercise most EVERY day. Hardley ever do the same thing two days in a row just so I don't get bored. I still find that I have a problem with "portion distortion", I really have to monitor myself with that one. I wish you luck with the approval process....but, you will be fine! Best wishes, Ann
  24. Congratulations on the decison to have the surgery!! It can really change your life.....but you have to activley participate in the weight loss and really use your band in the manner this "tool" is meant to be used. I took two years of soul searching before I knew I was ready for the life changes I have made and am making since having surgery. Not only do I try and make much better food choices each and every day, I also exercise now each and every day. I do not do this same type of exercises each day because I would get bored, I mix it up. I am fortunate that I have many family members and friends that have been extremely supportive throughout this process and I go to group support meetings offered by my surgeons office. So, I guess what I am trying to say is that by having this surgery, YOU have to make changes, it is not simply a diet. You are right, there are many people out there that have this surgery and don't see much weight loss at all. I think that you get out of it what you put in. Having said all that, if you focus on what you need to do you will find much success. I am so very gratful that I have had this surgery and have no regets whatsoever. I wish everyone the success I have had...good luck!
