November 09 Knockouts! Check in here POST surgery! :)

I had my surgery last Wednesday, 11/18. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. The surgery was at 7am and I was back at home by noon. I was very sore for the 1st 2 days, but have felt much better since then. Yesterday was my 1st day back at work and my 1st day to get hungry since surgery. I have already lost 15.5 pounds ! I am on full liquids now, but really looking forward to soft foods in another week or so.

Dr. Miles or Dr. Schmitt patients

I am also a patient of Dr. Miles and Dr. Schmitt. I have had my consultation and am currently awaiting insurance approval from BCBS. I think the waiting is the hardest part! I still have to do the sleep evaluation on 4/2, and the support group tomorrow morning. I am excited about this journey that has begun--I have yo-yo dieted for several years and just want to have a normal relationship with food. I am blessed to have my MIL on the journey with me. I asked her to go to the seminar with me and now she is also going to be banded. She has Medicare, so her process is moving along more quickly than mine is. But I am glad that we will have each other for support. I have PCOS and she has been very supportive in my quest to overcome PCOS with weight-loss.
  3. I am just beginning on my lap-band journey, and I am very excited about it. I have struggled with my weight for years and never even heard of this procedure before stumbling across this webpage a couple of weeks ago. I have PCOS and have been looking for treatment for that. Lap-band was one of the overwhelming treatments I found for PCOS when doing my internet research. I had my seminar last week, and my first Dr appointment yesterday. I have to have a sleep evaluation (because I snore) and I have to go to 7 consecutive months of Dr-supervised weight-loss visits because that is what my insurance requires (BCBS of AL). How much weight can you lose during those 7 months and still have insurance approve the surgery at the end? :cursing: I hate that I have to wait so long to get started with the band!

Submitting all info to insurance tomorrow

I am in Alabama too. Where is your doctor? I am going to St Vincent's East. I have to do the 6 months of Dr visits before I get to get banded, but I am very excited about it.
