  1. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Mmmm, Sara Rue.... Though...I probably wouldn't throw Angelina out of bed either...
  2. Getting a good fit in a mask is key. I had started out with the standard gel mask, but because I generally sleep on my side it wouldn't stay sealed. My wife said I was whistling like a tea kettle in the middle of the night. I switched to the nasal pillows, and have been using them for over a year - love them. I sleep so much better now. Also, once you have lost a significant amount of weight, don't be lulled into thinking your apnea is gone - you may need adjusting, you may not need the CPAP at all - but the majority of people still need it after the weight loss as well, so it's important to do another sleep study. I did the home test, they delivered the unit to my house and showed me how to hook it up (plus it came with detailed instructions). Slept hooked up one night, then they came and picked it up. Turns out I was also waking up over 70 times an hour - no wonder I felt like crap all the time. My CPAP travels with me whenever I'm away from home - all I need is an electric outlet and I'm good!
  3. LMMFAO!! Best one yet!! Thanks Wheetsin, you just made my day!
  4. Funny stuff folks! I have the worst memory for jokes, here's the only one I ever remember: Two cannibals were eating a clown. One says to the other, "Does this taste funny to you?"
  5. Aaahhh, refreshing! Thanks telly! :biggrin1:
  6. I never said you called me arrogant - I called myself arrogant! Oh yeah - and bite me.
  7. Does emedical finance out of the country surgery? Oh - and ditto what DonnaB said. :clap2:
  8. I get the feeling that there is an increased interest in the band and other forms of bariatric surgery, mostly due to the increase of obesity awareness this country seems to be going through. I'm seeing advertising by doctors in newspapers, magazines and TV for the lap band, etc. that I've never seen before. I think that it is more important than ever to thoroughly research before choosing a surgeon, becauses anytime there's a trend, there are businessmen and charlatans alike who are wanting to cash in on it. So there will be more surgeons popping out of the woodwork, and more horror stories in the near future. A forum like this has an incredible amount of information, most of which is based on real-life experiences and is therefore extremely valuable - however, IMO, this SHOULD NOT be the only stop on the research road. books, physicians, nutritionists, the Internet, articles written by experts in the field, the library, bariatric patients, support groups, etc. - all should be used before making one of the most important decisions you'll ever make.
  9. :help: I can't figure out if I'm a know-it-all or if I'm stupid - willbethin can't make up her mind! :biggrin1: And all this time I just thought I was arrogant. :heh:
  10. I rest my case. The issues you must be dealing with are overwhelming your ability to listen to others, so there's nothing I or anyone else could possibly say that would get through to you. Again, you did not do your research, yet you are the one who professes to know that every doctor in Mexico is crap. I just do not understand people who make blanket statements about things as if it's the truth. Hmm, kind of like your hero Bush...:grouphug:
  11. :grouphug: You are entitled to your opinion. I am going to Mexico and I know exactly what band I'm getting. You made a very poor choice for a doctor, and are trying to blame all your issues on the entire medical profession of Mexico. Ludicrous. Get a grip, and work on the mental before the physical.
  12. How much does Body Fortress cost?
  13. This is a problem that I am very concerned about for myself, as I have always wolfed and washed my food down. I figure practice makes perfect (not banded yet, 44 days but who's counting), so every time I eat I try to take smaller bites, and I force myself to chew every bite 33 times. I usually don't make it past 16-20 chews, as the food has pretty much dissolved by then, but I find if I keep that 33 number in my mind, I am counting my chews and slowing down. And no beverages with food REALLY helps, as I can't wash it down. Another plus side to this - I have discovered flavors I didn't know existed in the foods I eat! Never before did I realize that oatmeal had such depth... :grouphug:
  14. Ah well - you probably believe everything our president says as well, right? :faint:
  15. D'oh! Ouch - I hope I am :notagree before they do that to me, if they do.
  16. PB stands for Productive Burp - as in it produces more than just air and noise. Food that gets stuck at the pouch will come back up if it can't pass through.
  17. I'll be skinnier on the return flight, right? :cake: :biggrin1: 335, and haven't had to buy two seats. Yes, the aisle is better, but watch your elbows and knees when the beverage cart comes by. The flight attendant was kind enough to bring me an ice bag for my knee the last time it got smacked by the cart (ouch!) I will be booking my flight for the surgery soon, and I think I've decided to go first class for the return trip. I don't relish the thought of having to scrunch myself up with a sore abdomen.
  18. Anyone in or around Olympia? I am getting banded by Dr. Ortiz on July 10, 2006.:bounce:
  19. I'm trying to understand something here - your BMI was under 30 and you wanted a lap band? Did you even consult with a physician before making this decision? If you did, I would guess that he or she probably advised against this. Are you a physician? If so, there's a saying about that, something about anyone who diagnoses themselves has a fool for a patient... :faint: That's a pretty strong blanket statement. Would you care to even attempt to prove it?
  20. Boy I can hardly wait!:banana I am having Dr. Ortiz do my procedure - anyone else scheduled in July?
