    No more fills?

I was banded Nov. 08 and in one year I have lost a total of 82 lbs and am very happy.....but would still like to lose another 10 or so. I have been trying for about 6 months and it is IMPOSSIBLE!!! I still have some restriction, although once I hit a healthy BMI my doctor won't fill me anymore. He says it is up to me to eat right and maintain my weight, which I have done. I have stayed at the same weight (give or take a lb. or so) for the past 6 months. Did anyone else have this problem? I know what to eat to lose the weight, I am still exercising, but I might just have to come to the realization that this is where my body is happiest?
  3. I am about 10 lbs from my goal weight, I have lost close to 80 lbs now, and I feel like I have no restriction at this point. I have eaten more than usual ( of healthy foods) and I have drank shortly after eating and it feels like it did before I had the band. Has this happened to anyone else? I wonder why I don't feel any restriction? I have to go see my doctor this week, but it is a very scary feeling.

who knew it would be this hard

I know exactly how everyone here feels. I am 10 lbs away from my goal, my doctor said that I am basically done losing weight now unless I lose it on my own. My BMI is now classified as no longer obese, and I am just overweight. My problem is that I worked so hard, for so long, that being considered overweight is just not good enough for me. I am grateful for this journey and all the weight I have lost (79lbs) but in order for me to complete this and go on to mainenance, I feel my BMI needs to be a normal weight, which is another 10 lbs. That being said, my scale is not moving. This seems to be the 3rd plateau I have hit. I am very patient at this point though and I am not giving up even if it takes another year to reach my goal. It's very frustrating at times though.

    the last 9 lbs

I know it's very frustrating to be so close and still be losing slowly because that is what is happening to me also. I am 10 lbs away from goal (my personal goal) and my scale hasn't moved and its been 2 months now. I guess we can call it a plateau, but no matter how I change my diet or exercise around, I can't get the scale to move. So, I am very grateful that I have come this far and lost almost all the weight (76lbs). Maybe over a longer period of time it will eventually come off for us. Good luck to you and congratulations on your great weight loss!

    how to maintain

I had my lap band surgery in Nov. 08 and am almost at goal. I have lost 75 lbs. and am worried about maintaining the weight. I was told the band is kept slightly restricted for about 2 years so we can adjust to our new eating habits. Is this correct? I really don't understand the maintenance part of this journey. Can someone explain how they are maintaining?

    plateaus

Thank you for all your input. I have been increasing my treadmill time to 2.5 miles at least 3 times a week, and changing up my diet, still nothing. I wonder if my fill was too tight last time. I feel I am not eating as much as I should, and when I try to I start sliming or it all comes back up. It has been one month since my last Dr. visit and I have lost one pound. I feel very discouraged.

    plateaus

I seem to have hit my second plateau since having my lap band surgery. The first time it happened, I was told to change up my diet. That worked and now I am stuck again with my weight. It seems to get very frustrating and disappointing, but I know in time my weight will continue to drop and I need patience. I just wondered if it has happened to anyone out there?

Ever been told "No fill for you!"

I was told when it was time for my second fill, that he would not fill me. I was making all the right food choices and losing weight so there was no need for a fill. I was upset because I was counting on the fill. I went back two weeks later and told him I was starving and starting to slip back to some old foods, and I told him to either unfill me or to fill me.... he filled me. When you have just the right fill, this lapband works like magic. When you are overfillled, it can be hell. If you continue to lose weight without starving, you are doing the right thing. Good luck!

    does this happen to anyone?

Thank you for all your suggestions. I will try them all. There are alot of quirky things we have to get used to to lose this weight with weight loss surgery, but everything to me is worth it to just get to a healthy weight and feel better.
  11. I recently had my second fill and am able to eat small bites of food and have no problem drinking liquids. I seem to have a new issue now though. After eating if I lay down to take a nap (I work nights and need to sleep during the day) I will cough and end up basically vomiting up whatever I ate. I don't feel like I overate at the time. This seems to happen whenever I lay down after eating. Timing doesn't matter. It could be 2 hours later or 30 minutes later, it still happens. Any thoughts?

    decided not to fill

I just wondered if this has happened to anyone else. I was banded in Nov. and have had 2 fills. Today was supposed to be my third fill. In the past month, I have lost 12 pounds. When I went to my doctor to be filled today, he asked me a few questions, regarding my diet, my choices and then told me he wasn't going to fill me today because he felt that I was making good food choices and was losing weight and although I was hungry, he felt that I didn't need the fill. I was very surprised and somewhat blown away because I think that I looked forward to relying on the fill to help me through the month. That is the reason I had this procedure done, since I have failed before on so many diets. He said that I could come back whenever I needed to for the fill ( in a week, or two) if I really felt I should. I then asked him, so if someone just continues to lose the weight, makes good food choices, they don't need fill? He said no, they wouldn't. You could just think of the band as a safety net. I am very confused now. He also said had I come in and told him when I was hungry instead of choosing a yogurt, I had eaten a whole pizza, he would of done the fill. Very confusing.
