  1. Hey shininstarr. I am 5'5 and my starting weight was 274. I am currently 257. The wight is coming off kinda slow right now but I know there are some changes I need to make. I went on vacation and everything went out the window. But I am back on track now and I know I can do it. I have had 2 fills and have a total of 5 cc's in a 9cc band.

  2. Looking good girl!!!! I see you have the realize band, so do I, How many cc's do you have in it?

    Boys

Guy are just jerks!!! LOL. I too am tired of being alone. I have some male friends but it never seems to go beyond that. I have said that once I lose the excess weight these same guys better not try to be more than friends then. I have a strong feeling that is going to be the case with one in particular. I am a Christian woman, and I truely believe that the Lord will send 'the one' when the time is right. I like to think that he is preparing me to make sure that I am mentally and physically ready to receive his gift for me. I also think that he is preparing 'him' for me, so that when the time comes he will be able to recognize what a catch I am. LOL. Don't give up and continue to love and respect yourself. Best Wishes!!

    Omg!!!! Wow!!!

First off.....I cheated today. Had my first fill yesterday and the clear liquid crap is killing me. Of course everyone in the office wants to eat Whataburger and root beer floats from Sonic today. Well, my friend got a chicken strip basket from Whataburger, and she knows of my band. She offered me a strip and a few fries...........and I accepted . I concentrated and chewed because I didn’t know what to expect since I just had a fill yesterday (3cc’s). Yes I cheated but I am glad I did because I was so full after just eating that!!! I have some restriction. Whether or not it is swelling from my fill or not I don’t know, but I love this feeling. It’s not painful but you definitely know that you have had enough. I just need to learn not to drink any fluids for 30-45 minutes after eating. I pray this feeling stays around. I pray it only takes one or two fills to get to my “sweet spot”. Time will tell.

    First fill!!!

I was very anxious:confused:. After reading a lot of the posts about fills, I was hoping that my MD was not the conservative type, giving only .5 or 1cc for the first fill. He gave me 3cc's!!!!. The whole fill took less than 20 seconds and I felt absolutely nothing. Totally painless procedure. I immediately felt the difference once I took my first sip of water. They performed a barium swallow after the fill and she told me that she could see a little reflux and to drink my entire bottle of water before I left and to notify them if I had any girgling. Honestly I had a little girgle with the first and second sip but I want restriction so bad that I refused to say something :wink2:. I can tell that it takes longer for my water to go down and I can feel the backup in my esophagus......not painful though. He wont do another fill until a month after the first so my next fill is scheduled on June 30th. I feel great about the fill and I am even more motivated to get rid of this extra weight :w00t:

    2 Days till Banding... HELP!!!

I cheated a tad on my pre-op diet also. My advice would be to do the clear liquids starting now and be strict on yourself. I would hate for them to attempt to do the surgery and cant bcuz of ur liver. Chicken broth really isnt that bad and drink clear juices i.e, apple juice and cranberry juice. Oh, and dont forget the jello. You can do it. I did. Its all a mind thing. Best wishes.

    Surgery date moved to 6/17

I know its frustrating, but at least it is only 7 days and not like 7 weeks. Don't know if you are spiritual or not but maybe the moving of the date was for the best. Kinda gives you an extra week to get your thoughts and mind right. Somedays I wake up and cant even believe I am banded. I had to go through 3 months of insurance stuff and I thought my surgery date would never come. Surgery was a breeze....minimal pain. I am almost a month out. The best advice I can give you is to walk, walk and walk as soon as you can (that night). When those gas pains hit it is not fun, but walking helps alot. Keep in touch, would love to hear how things go for you. Best Wishes.

My stomach is growling like a tiger! Roarrrr!

That's funny!!! My stomach does the exact same thing and I am almost 1 month out. It makes me laugh everytime.
  12. I look at your pics whenever you post new ones and they have been getting better and better. You look great. I can't wait to be where you are. You are an inspiration. Ive only been banded a month come June 6th, and I think my weight loss is slow, but you helped me realize that it is not a race.....as long as I get to my goal is all that matters. Keep it up!!!
  13. Go head girl!!! Do tha dam thang!!! U look awesome!!!

    Change of "Appetite"

Thats halarious! Im sure its probably because you are feeling really good about yourself and your success. I think it is completely normal.
  15. Hello. I was banded by Dr. Speigel on 5/6/2009, due for my first fill on 6/2/2009. Quick question.........how many cc's did he give you with your first fill????

I was concerned about codeine and an empty stomach also, but tried it anyway. I had absolutely no problem. Give it a shot!

    Hunger pains

The key for me is to eat every 2-3 hours, not letting yourself get hungry. Kinda like pain medication, take it before your pain gets too severe. Ive found that its like clockwork......I can tell when 3 hours has hit because I start to feel mild hunger. Plus this frequency builds your metabolism. It will get better....it has for me. Plus.....when your not "starving" you make better food choices. When you are at the "starving" point, you dont care what you eat, just as long as you eat. At least that is the case with me. Always keep something handy, for me its SlimFast. I had my surgery on the 6th. Best Wishes to you/us. LOL!

What are you looking forward to???

Great question! When I am invited to a function or an outing, I have a habit of wanting a new outfit. I go to the store, try on clothes and if I dont find anything I like, that is comfortabe/cute without a girdle I wont go. Im SOOOOO sick of girdles! So, I am looking forward to walking into any department store and not looking for the plus size section. I want so very much to see something cute hanging and walking over to it knowing that they will have it in my size, and not plus size.

    It's Done!!!

Yeah, I overdid it one day also. I felt stuffed too, but I walked and it went away.

    It's Done!!!

OK!.....I'm home. Had the procedure on 5/6/2009 at approx. 8:45 am. It was my first time "going under" but everyone was so nice and explained everything in great detail. Everything went well and I give all thanks to God for that. I have 5 small punctures/incisions. The incisions dont hurt much on a scale of 0-10 they are a bout a 1 or 2. Its the trapped air that is uncomfortable........0-10m they are about a 6 or 7. When the air pains would hit in the hospital I would get up and walk, and that helps the air move around and excape. Once these pains are gone I will feel great. I came home the next day at about 11 am. I needed to walk some so I asked my father to take me to the grocery store to pick up more liquid items to carry me thru the week. I think I did to much, I was really tired and sore once we got back home. Eating is good. Not much of an appetite but I refuse to dehydrate so I make sure I am sipping on liquids all day. My doctor sent me home with Lortab elixir and I was trying my best not to have to use it, but I find that if I take it around bedtime it helps the air pains so I can get some rest. Off to drink some broth now. This was a breif synopsis, but overall things went very well and I cant complain.

    13 Days and counting

LOL!!! I felt the same exact way!! I have to be at the hospital at 5:45 in the morning. I laugh because I to am a nurse, and your right, sometimes you can know too much. My biggest fear is being intubated. But your nerves will calm down the closer it gets. We have chosen this journey, for me I feel it was chosen for me, and we must make a commitment to give it all we have. We can, and must do it. I feared failing also, but no longer. I am so ready for this change in my life and I am going to do what it takes to be healthy and to feel better about myself. Best wishes to you. Since I go tomorrow, if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
  24. I hope you realize what an inspiration you are to a lot of people.....including me. Thx!

    From the beginning...

Thx for this post. I get banded on the 6th which is Wednesday. I want to lose 40 lbs by July 4th and I initially thought that maybe this goal is too out of reach for me, but after I read your blog I see that it is possible with hard work and dedication. Congrats! and keep up the good work.
