  1. I can't wait to be able to shop at stores like American Eagle, GAP, and Old Navy. My dream outfit isn't much but it matches my style, comfortable. A cute pair of skinny jeans with black heeled leather boots, a cute spagetti top and an awsome leather jacket.
  2. Seriously I love Torrid to death but I deffinatly won't miss having to shop there, I can't wait to be able to fit into all the cute clothes at the mall, and omg boots I am going to have so many pairs of boots and the best thing is they won't have a 20 inch circumfrense.
  3. omg this really makes me feel so much better, I don't know what I would do if I had never discovered this site. When I'm nervous or upset and I go on here i feel so much better knowing there are other people who know just how I feel. I know getting surgery is the right thing for me. I am also scared about how i will look afterwards. I hate being this big but I have found ways to deal with it and to protect myself from getting hurt. I'm just scared that afterwards I'll look so different that I won't feel like the same person, and I won't have any defensive walls to put up when I feel really selfconseius. I know I just need to take it one day at a time and not worry about the future because in the long run I will be healthier and I know this will keep me on this planet longer. And Jessica ty you so much for posting this thread it's been a big help, and I wish all of you the best of luck.
  4. I am hearing so much about this six month preop diet, it scares me. I know it is to make sure you can stick to this long term but I just can't imagine waiting so long to have surgery. Yes I have waited my whole life for this but now since things are really speeding up I don't know if I could handle another half a year. Also I know of people who had to do the six month diet and others who didn't. Is it something that insurance companies request or does it just depend on what the doctors think or what??? I'm soo confused. And very freakin nervous.
  5. hi, I have not been banded yet but I have the same exact fears. Yes losing all that weight would be awsome but I don't want to look like a deflated blimp. I really want this surgery but I an too getting more depressed the closer I get. I know you can get a tummy tuck to take care of skin but that's alot of surgery and I know my areas that will have the most saggy skin are my thighs and upper arms. I want to be thin but I'm also really scared that I'll look worse after the weight loss. So really I don't know who all has delt with this problem but just know that you are alone. I hope yuo find your answers. GOOD LUCK with your journey.
  6. OMG this reminds so much of me. Most of my family is obese and we don't eat more than other families. Some people say weight has nothing to do with your genes but I believe it does. I'm only sixteen and I have been obese my whole life. My parents and brothers are also big but I'm pretty sure I'm the heaviest in the house. Just this past summer I weighed 212 now I weigh about 273, no matter what I try I continue to gain so this why I am going to have the lap band done. I don't want to be obese my whole life I want to be healthy and be able to enjoy growing up.
  7. Does any one know how the lap band can affect these two disseaces? If you don't know what gastro pariesses(I probaly spelled it wrong) is, it's a digestion problem where the nerve that controlls digestion your stomach is dammaged. You digest food slower than you should so sometimes after you eat you end up vomitting a little because there's no room. I know having gastric bypass can make you get it if a certain part is cut. But does any one know if this could keep me form getting banded? And for any one who has or had GERD that got banded did it get better??? :tongue_smilie::confused::thumbup::confused::tt2::confused:
  8. When I get banded I plan on telling people. I don't care if people talk but that's what people do. My family and friends are so supportive of me and I'm only sixteen. I want other kids at school to know I'm banded because I'm finally doing something about my weight. Plus if I get to my goal weight, I won't care what any one says because I'll be so happy about the new me and my journey. You just have to do what you think is best for your situation. Good luck!
  9. Is true You're not suppossed to drink any thing when you eat? Can you have any carbonation at all? For ezample if you drank less then half a can of soda would it hurt you?
  10. My family has tricare prime because my dad is retired military, I was wondering; every who has had the surgery done with tricare prime, what was required for your approval? I was also wondering how long it took for some of you to actually get a surgery date. Were you required to do the 6 month diet?
  11. Ok my mom and dad were being really supportive of me but now my mom is starting to be against the idea of me getting banded. She finally did research and oly read like one mean while I've read like 20 pages about it. She is concerned because she read that after surgey you won't ever be able to eat teh same things. She also read that after being banded you will have to take alot of Vitamins and supplements for the rest of you life because you won't get the proper nutrition. Is this true??? This is killing me, she's for it, she's not for it make up your mind!
  12. My question is, can you feel your port when you touch your stomach? Is the port visable through the skin?
  13. I just turned 16 in January and hopefully by this summer i should have a surgery date.
  14. Last year in the ninth grade I was in my pottery class, the boy who I like so much was sitting at a table with some of his friends. When I walked by the other tables my but knocked someoes pot the table, it hit the floor and broke into several peices. When this happened the whole class started loughing. To make things worst the boy who I liked ever so much was also loughing and later on in the class i herd him and his friends making fat jokes about me. I was embarresed I had my schedule changed so i wouldn't have my pottery class anymore. I seriously can't wait until my surgery, I can't wait to start living.
  15. Ok I know this might seem like something silly to be worried about but here we go, I love my breast and they're one my better features and the thing I was wondering is, for the ladies who have had surgery have they gotten smaller? and if so was it by alot? Again I know it's probaly silly but it's just something I've been wondering about.
  16. Things I won't miss are, thighs rubbing together having no energy seeing if I'm the fattest person in the room wanting to break mirrors when I look in them having trouble with chairs that have arms and bar stools being made fun of by boys feeling uncomfortable at the beach having no pretty panties or bras not being able to find boots that fit my legs not having trouble trying to fit into desks having no energy not being able share clothes with my two beutiful best friends and just not feeling pretty god I can't wait for surgery!
  17. hey this my opion. I just turned 16 last month and I'm still being evaluated, I really have tried everything to loose weight and nothing has worked. I weigh 266 pounds and my doctor thinks it's really good idea to get the lap band. Me, personally I think it's better to have the surgery at this age because you heal easier when you're younger and the longer you go through life being obeist the worst it is on your physical and emotional health as well. So I think ti's great that you're going for it. I wish you good luck
  18. (gulp) I'm only 5 feet almost 5'1 and I weigh about 266 pounds and I'm so worried about saggy skin too, but my weight is contributed evenly and my I have good skin so hopefully that will help some. Sigh I'm still waiting on approval
  19. Thanks so much for the teen link I'll deffinatley check it out and thank you for the support.
  20. Can exercise alone be enough to help get rid of loose skin?
  21. Ok so I'm only 16 years old and I way 266 pounds. I've been obeist my whole life but it's just getting worse. I've tried everything to lose weight but I just keep gaining pounds and the doctors say despite my weight I'm healthy but I can take being this size any more. I gained over 50 pounds over this past summer alone but I exercised every day and I was on a good diet. Its just no matter what I do nothing works. My doctors has already talked to me my parents about the lap band and told us to come back if we want to discuss it further and my parents have been talking about it too. I just want to be comfortable when i go out with my girlfriends and not have to worry about being made fun of. I want to be around boys with out being so shy. But most importantly I want to be a healthy size and to able to up a flight of stairs with out being out of breathe. I already know everything about the lap band I' ve researched so much. So should I have the lap band surgery?
