Excellent news on feeling better and better. It really just takes time. Not living to eat is really liberating, and you're gonna do great.

    Bad experience with Cod

I still can't eat anything deep-fried. If I have to pan-sear anything here at the house, it has to be pan-seared in extra extra light olive oil. If I eat anything fried, even with pulling off the batter, I get instant cramping and discomfort. I've eaten a couple of french fries from Caysen's order, but oh how it hurt. So, I just steer clear of fried stuff. Yesterday, at lunch I ordered a Chimichanga, but this restaraunt uses light canola oil to fry their food ( I seriously asked the server to find out) they tout their menu as healthier, anyways, I ate a little bit of the outer tortilla, and still didn't feel all that fabulous.

Am I the only one that...

Ohhhhhhhhh woman, seriously are we twins separated at birth? ? ? I decided one night to stalk my ex on Facebook. And, ohhhhhhhhhhhh the sheer pleasure I had when I saw he hasn't aged well, and is FAT. Plus, his skankyliscious whore of a wife is still fat and UGLY. I mean it's okay that she's fat, but he married the ugly fat one. She was a friend of mine, and they were screwing around behind my back. I made a Confession in the "confession time" thread about it all.
  5. I had a pair of goal jeans that I bought a few years ago. Well, funny thing happened one day when I was doing the "closet clean out" for the upteenth bajillion time. I decided to try them on, and ummmm I had somehow skipped right over that size, and that were not going to ever fit. They were saggy in the butt, and thighs that I could not of worn them in public. So, off to the woman's shelter they went. For me, I would have to lose 25-30 pounds to move comfortably to the lower size while I was wearing plus size clothes, but once I got down to about a 18 regular, it only took me about 10-15 pounds to get into the next size. So, if you buy goal clothes, make sure you try them on often once you really start dropping weight, or you'll shrink right out of them.

    Weary from Dieting

You can take Biotin or other similar hair/skin/nail supplement a few weeks pre-op to help with regrowth and continue to take it post-op. Some people increase their zinc intake to help combat the hairloss. But, discuss that one with your doctor. Congrats on getting closer to getting your consults scheduled.
  7. Your tummy is still super swollen hun. It does get better for it's gonna take more time. Some people don't experience it at all, and I don't know why. I dealt with it for a good solid 2 months if I can remember correctly. When it comes to taking bites, I didn't start normal bites for a long, long time, and even to this day, I take small bites of steak, chicken, rib meat, and other dense food. Now, with yogurt, or mashed potatoes, I can and do take a normal bite. The one thing that really helped me was sipping on hot tea. It seems to relax my sleeve, and made drinking and eating much easier. Even when I go out with friends and family to eat, I often order a glass of Water, and a hot tea or coffee. I drink the tea/coffee before my meal arrives, and it really helps.

Is chewing gum a problem after sleeve?

I waited until I was 3 months out before chewing gum only because I was extremely protective of my staple line. Now, I don't have any issues with chewing gum. I did suck on sugar free hard candies, peppermints mainly early out.

so i told two people today...

Ha ha ha seriously, I would of typed out the "C" word because that's what I normally say, but I figured it would offend a lot of members here, and they would probably fall out of their chairs reading that I would say something like that. . . If we go to jail together, you have to promise that I will not be Big Bertha's b*tch. I can not handle being the beta female in those 8x8 rooms. I just can't do it LOL LOL

    Bad experience with Cod

Overproduction of salivia in your mouth. You know after you go out drinking a bunch one night, forget to drink some Water when you get home, maybe stop off at IHOP or Denny's on the way home for a Rooty Tooty Freshy and Fruity Breakfast at 3am, then you wake up with that funky feeling like something isn't right, then you kind start making a bunch of spit, then your jaw kind trembles, and you know that the fresh and fruity is coming back for a replay? That's what the sliming is similar to. It's a sign that sometimes food isn't going to stay down, or the food is not going to agree with the sleeve, you can also get it if you eat too fast, or do not chew solid food well enough before swallowing.

so i told two people today...

Great post, I've only had one of my fat friends give me the "I can't believe you're gonna do this and not just accept your size, and work with God has given you, I guess you won't hang out with us fatties anymore once you get skinny." My reply " well God didn't give me this (as I grabbed my back fat), I gave me that by shoveling food in my mouth, and while I am not doing this to be skinny, it'll be a perk, the only reason I won't continue to hang out with you is when you become a bitter b*tch because you realize just how miserable and unhealthy being morbidly obese is, at that point, I'll walk away, because at least I can walk away healthier, and you will continue to wallow in the denial of your weight problems." Now, that's how I really feel about people who don't want to embrace people's choice to have WLS. I seriously want to punch people in the throat that throw the "if you would exercise, and work harder". Umm yeah, over the last 10 years I have lost and regained 400 pounds, can you give me your secrets on how you stay thin? Because I know that double cheeseburger, super size fries and milkshake you're putting away would add at least 7 pounds to my ass while you sit there in your size 3 jeans, and not flinch at the thought of breaking a sweat in the gym.

How was it prepared? Did you use any type of sauce/lemon/seasonings/dressing?

It sounds like by the denial reason that the company/corporations has excluded WLS as a covered service. It is something that is becoming more and more prevalent among big corp insurance policies because their rates go up substantially for surgeries. This is why we are seeing so many companies giving incentives for weight loss, non-smoking, having breast exams/pap smears, and prostate exams done as preventative health care. It's absolutely horrible because they don't exclude heart bypass surgery for all the fat employees which cost 3-4 times as much as WLS, but they figure only 1 out of5 people will need heart bypass instead of 20 out of 20 fat employees will want WLS covered which in the long run will cost the corp more money in premiums.
  14. Not ridiculous at all. But, Celebrate that this surgeon wants the very best for you, and your surgical outcome. That's got to be a great comfort for you. While you are waiting, try making some of the behavioral changes that are necessary. Also, mentally prepare for this surgery. A lot of people discount the emotional and mental toll losing the ability to eat big meals, or a bunch of junk food. Start not drinking with your meals now, start sitting your utensil down in between bites, cut your portions down by 1/4 then by 1/2 when you closer your surgery date. Find a new hobby to occupy your mind, focus on your future health, educate yourself through other's experiences so you can be somewhat prepared what you may experience post-op. Find joy in some little things that you may not remember, and know that your surgeon only wants the very best for you. You'll be able to eat normal foods just not "normal" amounts until closer to autumn, but you're going to be able to buy some smashingly beautiful warm winter clothing. Cheers to you getting your date. It may not be as soon as you want, but seek the silver lining in this little cloud.

To tell or not to tell???

Ohhhhhhhhhhh my goodness, I could have practically written that myself. I can tell you my experience. You know I bowl with a bunch of other military spouses, we do lunch, or breakfast a couple times a week, when they met me, I had only lost 75lbs, and have dropped another 58 since then. Anyways, the comments have stopped, and they no longer watch to see what I eat. Today, we went out to lunch and I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga, with smashed pintos and rice. I ate 1/2cup of rice 1/2 cup of beans, and few bites of the of the tortilla with the shredded beef. Not a single one of them said anything when I got a to-go box for the other half of the rice/beans, and about 90% of the chimi. They used to comment about how I was the only one to get a to-go box, or that there is no way I was only going to eat a "cup" of soup when everyone else was having a sandwich and bowl of soup at Panera. It's like they realize that this is really how I eat, and how I live now. I also told them, I come home and eat again 3 hours later. Which about 99% of the times we eat out, I do come home and eat leftovers. I only get policed from John when he doesn't think I'm eating enough. The girls have seen me drink soda, eat a fun size snickers, and even some homemade Christmas candy. They have tamed their curiosities, and quit making the same "are you really done?" questions.

    Chobani Greek Yogurt

When I get coffees with those syrups, I always get the caramel, or french vanilla. Even whole fruit has a lot of carbs in them, I know they are natural sugars, but if you're watching carbs just be aware they turn to sugar in our bodies as well. I know they have a strawberry cream syrup that people on OH have raved about.

    What is a bougie?

A bougie is a measuring tool used in surgery as a guide for the surgeon to make our sleeves. The standard sizes for stand-alone sleeve procedures are 32fr, 34fr, 36fr, and 40fr. I would ask which size they use, but there is minimal difference between these sizes. The difference between a 32fr and a 40fr is a mere 2.3 millimeters in circumference. The anesthesiologist slides the bougie down your esophagus when directed by the surgeon, and it is removed once the staple line is established. Yes, it should be discussed with your surgeon.

Complication/leak stats? How many if any deaths? What does your program fee involve? Do I get a nutritionist? How about some follow up care thrown in there, like labs at 3,6,9 and 12 months? How many nights in the hospital? Do you perform a leak test? Can you give me some patient testimonials or do you have any before/after pictures of your patients that I could read/look at? Do you oversew the staple line? How many incisions do you make?
  20. What in the world could you consume on Clear Liquids that have that many carbs. I couldn't even consume that many carbs on full liquids, and mushies, I was lucky if I hit 30 a day. Which I was super strict, but still, that just doesn't make sense. I've never seen a bariatric post-diet consist of that many carbs with any of the surgeries, RNY, DS, or the Band. I would definitely call. Since you only 60-70 to lose, you may not drop weight as fast as some of us that had double that amount to lose, so do not get discouraged.

John and Caysen are both Geminis. They both fit their astrological profile as well. John has a gypsy soul, and Caysen has the 2 sides thing going for him.

Is my bougie size too big?

The final size of the stomach is not the size of the pens. That is a comparison chart of the bougie sizes. The end result of our stomach sizes depends on surgical technique, and experience, and every patient's own anatomy.
  25. Regardless of gender, those stats are fabulous and you should be very proud of your success thus far. It's only going to get better. We're glad to have you here, and it's great to have you sharing your experience.
