  5. Yes, keep me posted. I hope it all works out for you!

  6. Hey there Georgia girl, actually I found out today for sure that my insurance covers the band except I have a $2000 co -pay, good thing it's tax return time!!! I got the ball rolling today and now have my information session set-up for Feb. 26th, and an appt. with my PCP on Monday to start the paperwork process. I hoe this all goes through and that this can really happen for me.....I also found the PCOS banders forum on here last night and saw that you post on there as well, what a great forum. I have suffered from it for years but only diagnosed with ultrasound years ago and recently PCOS symptoms have worsened and I am not ovulating at all and can't get pregnant, going to endocrinologist tomorrow to have hormone levels checked for the 1st time ever and see just how bad off I am I guess.....lol.....I'll keep you posted

  7. Hello my fellow Georgian! Thanks for the friend request. I hope everything works out for you. Let me know how things are going okay. Best of luck to you!

  8. Hey there, I saw you on here as I was looking through profiles, saw that you are from Georgia and so am I, so thought I'd say hey! I am new to this site and have not been banded yet, but fingers crosses, I will be soon.

    New Here

Hello all. I am new to this website but I love it already. I just realized that there's a Georgia section here, so I wanted to Post a message and say Hi. I have not been banded yet but I am just now starting the process. Is anyone from North Ga? I live in Bartow County. All Comments, suggestions, and info are welcome. I am looking at Harbin Clinic Bariatrics Center in Cartersville or Rome, Dr. Scott, anyone heard of him????
  10. *Thanks for being a friend*

I'm just getting started at all of this. I called Friday to see if my ins. will cover lapband and they said YES. So, it has to be predetermined by a Dr. It will not cover if it's for cosmetic reasons. God above knows it's not for cosmetic reason (yes, I would like to feel better about myself) But, I really need help. I need to lose this weight... It's getting hard for me to even work at my job. So, we are in the same boat. (just getting started) Keep in touch

    Very Newbie!

Oh thanks for your response, I guess I didn't realize the difference. I am also wondering if I have to give up coffee with flavored creamer, I can give up my sodas but I don't know about the coffee that will be hard and I can't drink it black. I mean after you have this surgery can you go back to eating regular foods eventually? It seems like I have read a lot of food restrictions after surgery, like not being able to tolerate breads, and red meats and things, is this true?
  13. Hey Shonia, I am exactly where you are in this whole thing, except I have made up my mind that I want it done now I am just getting started with the process. I have to call my insurance company tomorrow and see if they cover lap band, I know they cover gastric bypass but not sure about band. I added you as a friend already, keep me updated on your decision, and I would say go for it!

    Very Newbie!

I have just made up my mind that I want this surgery, now I need to know how to get started. I have been on a couple of weight loss regimens on my own and lost weight. In 2007 after being diagnosed with Thyroid disorder and also I have PCOS I was at my all time heaviest of 273lbs, so I went on Synthroid and birth control and glucophage for the PCOS not diabetes. I joined a gym worked out ALOT even with a trainer sometimes and existed off a lot of protein shakes and protein bars, I lost 50 lbs, but started working alot of 12 hour shifts at my job as a nurse, stopped going to the gym as there was just no time, and am now back up to 265. I was working out like a mad woman and hungry and cranky all the time and when I hit the 50 pound weight loss that was it, it just stopped I couldn't lose anymore! So, I lost all my motivation and gained back the weight, this of course has happened before. I need help with this. I am really ready to do this but a little scared, my only weakness is chocolate and man do I love it, and from what I'm reading on these posts you can't really do sweets after your banded, I'm wondering why that is? Well if anyone has any helpful advice about this whole process and where to start please send me a message. I live in Adairsville Georgia and we have Floyd hospital and Harbin Bariatrics over here in Rome, Ga., wondering if anyone here has been there for their surgery? I am going to call Flyd Monday and try to start this process.
