Pre-Op liquid diet. My Suggestion.
If you're like me and will soon be on a full liquid diet don't fret. The iSS® Oh Yeah!® Nutritional Shakes are really good. They come in 5 flavors; Chocolate, Banana and Cream, Cookies and Cream, Strawberry and Cream, and Vanilla and Cream. They are sold at GNC and other nutrition centers. They are on sale now actually for $39.99 this is for a pack of 12. they are 14 fl oz each with 220 calories 3g of sugar and a whopping 32 grams of protein! A regular at my local support group said he could go 2 weeks on these with no problem because after 3 days he wasn't that hungry because the protein keeps you really full. So try it out and hopefully it works for you. I know I will. Also, check out this website http://www.BariatricEating.com

Why is my partner trying to sabotage me??
Just keep in mind how bad you want this. Try to look at those foods and hate them rather than obsess over it. I hate most fast food now. And I don't even have the band in yet. My mindset is just geared towards success.

Any November 2009 Bandsters??
10 days before my liquid preop diet i'm trying hard not to over do it but it's sooooooo tempting. Anyone ever sat down at a restaurant and ate more than they should have. All my friends were egging me on and I feel pretty guilty right now.

Somemthing i've been wondering - college students
After lapband surgery how soon did you return to school? Were you able to walk to class like normal or did you have to take you time? Were you late? And most importantly were your professors understanding and allowed you to make up for time missed. I plan on having my surgery in the beginning of the semester in October. Has anyone else had there surgery in the middle of a semester?

Finally, a light a light at the of the tunnel.
Hey guys it's Alex, So today I visited my surgeon Dr. Cohen for my consultation. It went extremely well. He was a pretty cool guy and I recommend him to anyone in Miami. He said that I will have amazing result with the surgery based on his experience, my relatively good health, age, and body type. Unfortunately it turns out that I have a lot of work to do before I can get my official date -Physical Therapy Evaluation -Psychological Evaluation - Nutritionist Evaluation (3 appointments) - two more visits with Dr. Cohen - Mandatory Pre-op group sessions. - Online videos and multiple choice test (about 40 pages of reading ) and a $300 program fee, my insurance is covering the rest  My unofficial surgery date is late September early October I'm so excited this is finally happening! Fortunately no diet, it's a good thing my insurance got the message that diets don't work.

Oh, I definitely will. I think my mom is more nervous about the whole thing than I am and she is an RN. I'm just ready to have this tool in place so I can get to work.

So I have my first appointment with the surgeon on Monday 7/13. I'm so excited! On a side note, I had an endoscopy today because I knew they were going to ask for one and it was the best sleep I ever had lol.

Thanks Kristine, and good luck with your post-op. Hearing how fast you managed to pull that off has given me some hope. It would really irk me if I had to wait till winter break for my procedure. If you don't mind telling me what steps you took, I would really appreciate that.

College Student in New Orleans
Hey guys, Alex here, I'm a 20yr old undergrad from Florida. I went to the doctor as soon as summer break began and together we began knocking out some of the pre-op test to help me speed things up (heart test, blood work, thyroid etc). My goal is to get the procedure done before I return to school 8/30 (not too sure if thats possible now). I discovered that I am pre-diabetic as well as mid-high blood pressure as a result of my weight which the doctor said increases the odds I will get approved for surgery. I have very good insurance under my mother, but there is always room for doubt with our current health care system if you know what I mean. I'm excited to say that I will be seeing a Gastroenterologist for upper GI screening and then hopefully, finally, a surgery consult and then surgery date. I say we make this the official College Student Lap Band thread. haha. I haven't noticed any others.

Thinking about Lapband
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and I am pleased to see how much support this community provides to those who begin their journey to a healthier life . Here is a little about my problem and what I hope to achieve with your support. I have been a heavy guy since my early teens and I have never felt my best emotionally. I am fortunate to have a partner who loves me for who I am and is very supportive. I want to go through with the surgery because my weight loss struggle has been a persistent one and dieting does not seem to work. I am pre-diabetic by my moms nursing standards and my blood pressure has gone between normal and slightly elevated. I dread visiting my doctor for the weigh in of shame. It's been like a year I believe since my last visit. I am a 20 year old full time student and I wanted to know what steps I should take to begin this journey. What struck me was this winter break my sister began to worry about my weight as did my father and they never confronted me about it before. Thanks to all,
