  1. Hi Dionne!

I think it's great to find lapband buddies on here and we are in such a similar situation, it makes us natural friends! It's like therapy for both us to hear what the other is up to!

I am not too upset about missing fries either! I find that it's more important to focus on the things that we can do, rather than what we cannot do. I love thin crust pizza and have been able to eat it too. I think having a weekend treat is a great idea. Weekends are definitely more laid back for me too.

We don't have really have a beach close, I live just outside of Dallas. But I do like going to the lake or a swimming pool. I was just looking at bathing suits in a catalog yesterday and trying to decide whether I wanted to get new one now or just wait. I like your idea of waiting...then we can wear something really killer!

  2. -continued-

I haven't been exercising as good as I should and that is my plan, to get on a daily program of biking/cycling. I have found that I have adjusted pretty well to the adjustment and are seeing some immediate results. I finally hit the 20 lbs. lost mark today! I am so happy about that. I know what you mean about baggy size 18's, but too expensive to replace them all. Maybe you can reward yourself with 1 new pant suit. Is it possible that you can wear dress slacks and just change up your shirts each day? You may have to get creative with your clothing on the way down. But, hey, what a terrible problem to have, huh?!! LOL! Keep up the good work! Talk to you soon! Shelley

  3. Hi!

I have eaten a few things that did not agree with me too well. I have learned that french fries and lapband don't go together (for me anyway). I have only eaten 2-3 bites and then it's like a lead balloon trying to go down. I guess these things are trial and error for us all. Eventually we will figure out what we can and can't eat or should I say, what is worth it and what is not worth it!!!

  4. Hi Guy! Sounds like you are doing awesome!! Way to go! You are an inspiration to us all! : )

Things are going well for me too. I got my first fill last week and it is going good. I can go back in 2 weeks if I need another fill. Hard to tell right now if I do or not. I definitely have restriction and am still adjusting to the band. Now, to work on the daily exercise!! : ))))

  5. I did find out that I have a 10 cc band! Apparently, the 10cm is the older version.

  6. Hi Sommer! How's it's going? Are you scheduled to get another fill? I just got my first fill yesterday. I have 3 cc now. It's too early to tell how much restriction since I am on liquids only. They say I can come back in 2 weeks if I need more. I am excited to get that scale moving, because I have been chasing the same 1 lb. for 4 weeks now! I have lost 17 lbs., which is good, but I am ready to lose more! Hope you are doing great! Message me when you can!!

    Shelley : )

  7. Hi Shonia! Just wanted to check in with you. How are you doing? How are you feeling? I got my fill yesterday! Yeah! I am on liquids only for 24 hours, so time will tell how it goes with food. I am excited though and ready to see those scales moving down. Take care and write me when you can!

    Shelley

  8. Hi Laura, me again. Everything okay? You haven't been on in a while. I just wanted to let you know I got my first fill. I have 3cc now. I am on liquids only for 24 hours and then back to foods. So, time will tell how it goes. I am excited. I hope you are doing well and hope to hear from you soon!

    Take care,

    Shelley

  9. Hi Guy! How are you doing? Have you gotten closer to the sweet spot yet? I got my first fill yesterday. I have a total of 3 cc now and definitely feel some restriction. I am still on liquids though, so time will tell. Can't wait to get that scale moving down baby! Let me know how you are doing and maybe I will see you in the chatroom soon!! Take care,

    Shelley

  10. Hey! How ya doing? Are having any problems eating or feeling restriction? I got my fill yesterday. I ended up getting 2 cc and I already had 1 cc, so now I have 3 cc. I am still on liquids for 24 hours, so I am not sure how eating is yet! I am ready to beat that 1 lb that I have been chasing for the last month! Take care!!

  11. Hi Gretchen!

How's it going? Do you notice any restriciton now? I got my fill yesterday. It all went well. I have a total of 3 cc now. I had 1 cc after surgery and they added 2cc yesterday. I am on liquids for 24 hours, so I can't tell the difference yet. I am excited to get the scale moving down again...I had been losing and gaining the same 1 lb. for 4 weeks! Let me know how you are doing! : ))))

  12. Hi Dionne! How are you doing?? I got my fill yesterday. All went fine. It was over in less than 10 minutes! I ended up with a total of 3 cc in the band. I had 1 cc after surgery, then they added 3 cc at the fill, but like you, that was too much and I could feel the water coming back up, so they took out 1 cc and it was perfect. So, now I am also at 3cc! But now I have a question that only the doctor can answer. I am not sure if I have a 10 cc band or a 10cm band! All I can remember is 10! If it's a 10cm band, then maximum capacity is 4 cc. If it is a 10 cc, then it can hold 10 cc maximum. Big difference! It doesn't really matter which size, and you will still get to your sweet spot just the same, but obviously the bigger the band, the more fills! I am on liquids for 24 hours, then I can eat. I am ready to get that scale moving down baby!!

Hope things are going well for you!!

  13. Hi! Do you have a surgery date or in the process? I am only 6 weeks out from surgery...so far, so good! I wish you the best of luck and let's talk more!

  14. Hi Katja,

You are an inspiration! Your pictures are great! I can't wait to show my before and after pictures! I sure have alot of before pictures! haha! I always wanted to go to Germany. I studied german in high school and remember a little of it! (Ein biBchen). What time of year (season) is it in Stuttgart? It's spring here in Texas. It was fun chatting with you today! Take care and keep up the good work!

  15. Hi! You got your fill! Yay! How did it go? So, you ended up with 1 1/2 cc total? Do you feel some restriction now? I am hardly having any restriction now. I have been gaining and losing the same 1 lb. for a month now, so I am definitely in need of that fill! It won't be long, this Monday! Do you have to be on liquids for 24 hours after the fill? I have heard that some doctors do that. Not sure what mine does yet, I will found out soon! Take care and can't wait to hear about your progress!!

    Shelley

  16. Hi Dionne!

So you got your first fill!! Exciting! So you have a total of 3cc right now? And you are noticing a good amount of restriction! That's awesome. Did you have to drink liquids for 24 hours after? Some doctors require this. Also, did they do the fill under fluroscopy? I am imagining it's a big change to have the restriction now. If you were like me, I didn't have much restriciton anymore, so it probably feels really different now. I hope it continues to go well for you and can't wait to see your progress! I go Monday for my fill, which is good b/c I weighed this morning and had gained 1 lb.! I have been gaining and losing the same pound for a month now! Definitely time for a fill! : ))))

  17. Hi!

28 lbs. down! That is awesome!!!! Congradulations to you! When was your surgery? Who is your doctor? I am in Lewisville, not far from you at all! I used Dr. Veninga in Carrollton. I had my surgery over a month ago and I feel 100% again. I go for my first fill on 4/6/09 and I am excited about that. The next month will filled with alot of changes for you, but just sit back and enjoy the ride! It's all good and you will get there!!! You'll get the hang of labbanktalk in no time, it's pretty easy.

  18. Hi Laura, how are you doing? Haven't heard from you in a while! All is going well here, just waiting for that first fill on 4/6/09...tick tock...tick tock...ha ha!

  19. Hi Gretchen,

That's awesome you got your first fill!! Are you on liquids for 24/48 hours? I hear this is protocol for fills. I will be curious to see if you feel restriction and I hope you do! I am doing good and anxiously awaiting my first fill. I am holding steady with my weight loss, but am ready to see some smaller numbers on the scale. On the plus side, I have been fitting into smaller clothes myself and finding that I have a whole new wardrobe in my own closet - for free! Yippee! Let me how you do in the next few weeks! Take care!

    Shelley

  20. Hi!

You and I are losing the same amount of weight and I am also in size 16 right now, down from 18! Yippee!!! This is exciting and I can't wait until I have some restriction and really see some pounds coming off! I can't wait to hear about your fill!! Keep up the good work and keep smiling!! : ))))

  21. Love your blogs! Keep them coming!

  22. Hi! How are you doing this week? Feeling better? Are you still on liquids or have you transitioned to soft foods now? How did your postop visit go? Everything is going good here. I am feeling almost 100% now. We went camping this weekend and I did alot of walking. I was pretty good with my food. I can eat most anything right now with some restriction, so I am excited about getting a fill so that my portions can go down! I want to start losing again. I think I lost 1 lb last week, but as soon as I started solid foods, the weight loss slowed down. I hear this is all normal though. George (the PA) told me that maintaining before your first fill is about all you can expect, so I have lost 1 lb., so I must be doing good! lol! Take care!

  23. Hi! A fellow Texan! So, is your surgery today? 3/23/09? Good luck to you!! Let me know how you do! I love this site and think it's a great way for support. I am almost 1 month postop now, so far, so good!

This truly is a new beginning!!!

  24. P.S. They didn't have to repair the stitch thank goodness. They checked it on ultrasound and said the port had moved slightly, but not enough to warrant surgery. The stitch itself will heal fine with time.

  25. Continued -

They just don't make enough room for me to talk! ha ha!

Actually, I tore a stitch doing something really stupid. I was on the couch watching TV and I jumped up to go to the bathroom (my husband and I sometimes race to the bathroom during commerical breaks). When I jumped up and began to run, I felt a terrible pain and stopped in my tracks (yes, I realize how dumb this was!). After that, the pain was getting worse every time I sat down, stood up, got in bed, or hardly even moved. I went to the doc and sure enough, tore a stitch. I have been taking it easy since (no more racing!) and feel really good. I am walking for exercise, but not too brisk just yet. I was told to wait 3 weeks for healing! Yes, it's hard sitting still! But I feel great now and am ready to get going!!! Take care and talk to you soon!! **HUGS**
