  1. Hi Shonia,

How are you doing? Any decision on lap banding?

    Laura

  2. Hi Gretchen! How did your first fill go? Have you noticed any restriction yet? I am going for my second fill tomorrow and hope it gives me more restriction than the first one (1.5 cc). My doctor only fills 1.5 cc per fill, so...we'll see how it goes tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing from you about your progress! Laura

  3. I have been doing okay. How did your 1st fill go? Sounds like it went well for you! Mine was just fine. I only got 1.5cc, but scheduled for 2nd fill next week on 4/16. I have only lost about 2 pounds since my last doctor's visit. I just thought it would be more though! Oh well, some is better than none for sure! Please let me know how your fill went and how you are feeling now? Laura

  4. Hi Shelley! I have been crazy busy the past 2 weeks. I had to go out of town to visit an ill relative, then the next weekend I went on a weekend scrapbooking trip and now this week my daughter had surgery to have her adenoids removed...so....hopefully I'll have some me time now...Laura

  5. Julie,

Who was your surgeon? I had my first fill on 3/19/09 and it was not bad. I was very anxious anticipating pain and agony, but got a big surprise when it wasn't at all what I thought! My doctor is great and very caring. My husband went with me for support and held my hand. It was over with before I knew it! Looking forward to hearing from you! Laura

  6. Hi Julie,

How are you doing? I haven't been able to get on forum for a week or two due to family emergency and going out of town. Anyway, just checking in to say hello and make sure you're still on track. I have been feeling just fine. Only loosing about 1 lb a week..I really haven't been eating like I was the first weeks after being banded, but getting back on track! Laura

  7. Christine, CONGRATULATIONS!

You are a success! What a wonderful transformation.

I was banded 2/13/09 and scheduled for 1st fill on 3/19. I hope I can work as hard as you have to accomplish your goal! Thanks for sharing. Laura

  8. How are you doing with your meal planning and drinking all that water?

  9. Shelley, It sounds like you are off to a speedy recovery! So glad things are going so well for you. Just rest so that your port site will heal and you don't have any problems with it. I can really feel mine now that its pretty much healed up. Its sort of weird. I just hope the doctor does not have any problem whatsoever when doing my fill. He does use a spray before injecting needle, but still...I have a weak stomach anyway. My husband is going with me in case I get too squirmy. I'm sure it will be just fine. I think I've been watching too many YouTube videos about fill experiences. I had to stop watching that stuff!

  10. I wondered if that was possible when you just bend over or reach for things. I sometimes have a funny feeling when I bend over too far and feel my port. Yes, I am excited about my fill so I will have more restriction. I have lost a total of approx 26 lbs since Jan. I haven't started exercising yet, but am going to tonight. I want to lose a few pounds before my drs appointment next Thursday.

  11. Gretchen, How are you feeling today? Sounds like you are having a speedy recovery and things are going well for you. Just keep up the good work and rest! Looking forward to hearing from you...Laura

  12. Hi Shelley, Sounds like you are doing great! How are you adjusting to your lapband?

I am doing great too. Feeling much better and energetic, but my stomach is growling and it seems like I'm hungry all the time. Have drs aptment on 3/19 for 1st fill, so we'll see how that goes. Looking forward to hearing from you! Laura

  13. Kelli,

So glad to hear you are doing good! After my 1 wk post-op my doctor told me to start on regular foods. So, I did but ate a lot of mashed potatoes and soft stuff and finished up some baby food fruits I had bought for the pureed part. So far, so good. I have only lost 1.5 pounds since then. I haven't started exercising yet but am going to this weekend - treadmill. That will speed up the loss greatly for me. Keep me posted...Laura

  14. Hi Kelli,

I'm Laura. I was banded on 2/13/09. Your pics are great! How are you doing now that you are 4-5 weeks post-op? Friday will be my 3rd week post-op and I am feeling much better with each day! My first fill is on 3/19 and I am nervous about it. How about you? LB

  15. Hi Shelley,

How are you feeling today. Hopefully much better. It seems like each day you start to feel better. I had a good day today. I know it's only been 2 weeks, but my incisions are pretty much healed and I don't feel so bloated. It seems like I am waiting to eat when my stomach is growling. I don't really get hungry between meals either. I have lost 2 pounds since last week. Today, my jeans finally look really baggy! Yeah! I don't really know what size to try on....we'll see. Let me know how you are today. Thinking of you, Laura

  16. They are just adorable. How old are they in the photos? We just bought a new chicuaha. She is 12 weeks old and her name is Juicy. She so sweet. She has a big brother named Bradley. He's 19 months old and is a long hair chi. They are getting along good so far...take care of your new babies!

  17. Shelley,

    Congratulations - you've been banded!!!!

    Laura

  18. Cont'd...I go to the doctor on 3/19 for my first fill. I have been planning my meals and using RealizeSuccess on-line. I have felt when eat something that gets a little stuck like chicken and then this evening a boiled egg. I guess I ate it too fast and didn't chew well enough. I'll do better next time. Anyway, closing for now. Get your rest and take care! Talk with you later...Laura

  19. Shelley, Nice to hear from you! Sounds like you are off to a speedy recovery! Just keep on track with your pain meds and move/walk around to help with gas pain. I used Gax-X strips and heating pad. I know you are happy they fixed your hernia while installing your lap band. Less times you have to have anesthesia...

  20. Hi Shelley, Just checking on you to see how you are feeling! Thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery! Keep in touch, Laura

  21. Gretchen,

My gas pains pretty much truly went away after about 5-7 days. They progressively get less and less each day. I used the Gas-X strips and heating pad! I know you are uncomfortable right now but it will wear off and get better for you! How are you today? Laura

  22. Gretchen,

We haven't met, but just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you this morning! Good luck!

I was banded 2/13/09 and doing great! Laura

  23. Shelley,

Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you this morning! Good luck!

    Laura

  24. My eating problems before my surgery were eating too much and too often. Sometimes I would eat until I made myself sick. Also, emotional and boredom eating. Things are better now...I want to be healthy and thinner.

I better close for now....please keep me posted with your recovery. Just think about how much healthier you are going to be in a few days/weeks/months...its worth it. I am glad that I decided to have the lap-band! Take care, Laura

  25. Anyway, enough about me...are you spending the night at hospital after surgery? I am glad I did because it seems like you have extra time to get a grasp on what you've just gone thru! Sometimes I thought that after the surgery I would only be able to drink fluids in small amounts forever and ever, but that is not the case! You do get back to eating normal foods like you did before just a smaller portion.
