  1. Hi, welcome! I have only been a member since 12/09 and learning the ropes of this website. My doctor is Dr. Chappano at N. Fla. Surgeons-SVMC. Dr. Chappano is excellent and his office staff is too! I was banded on 2/13/09 and have had a good experience so far. Just like everyone else says - I wish I would have done this sooner. I feel so much better now and have lost about 40 pounds since 12/09. Again, welcome to LBT and look forward to hearing from you. Laura
  2. Good luck tomorrow! Keep us posted on your post-op...see you on the other side.
  3. Hi, I am 8 weeks out too and have lost 26 pounds including pre-op. I too was glad to see that you guys are having the same success. I thought maybe I was not doing this lap-band thing properly. I had my 1st fill on 3/19 and go in tomorrow, 4/16, for my 2nd fill. My 1st was 1.5 and my 2nd should be 1.5, so by tomorrow evening I will be at 3.0. I sure hope this gives me the restriction I need to keep on track and move forward! So glad to hear that you guys are doing so well! Keep in touch! Looking forward to hearing from you! Laura
  4. My first fill (1.5 cc) was on 3/19 and I did not notice any new restriction, just "stuck" episodes when eating too fast and not chewing properly. My 2nd fill (s/b +1.5 cc) is tomorrow, 4/16/09, and I am hoping for restriction with 3.0cc! My doctor says it is the process too and just does a little at a time (1.5cc). That's okay with me...I was banded on 2/13/09 and still adjusting to the new lifestyle. How many days on liquids after 2nd fill?
  5. I have been having a problem too since my 1st fill last month. I guess I take too big of bites when first start eating and it gets stuck and then I have to run away from table...once I am finished with the slimming and throwing up I feel fine and go back to eat very small bites. I didn't have this problem prior to 1st fill. I am having to learn new eating habits and to be more relaxed and not so rushed when eating a meal. Its hard to break old habits, put can be done with time!
  6. Congratulations on your medication reduction! I was banded 2/13/09. My blood pressure was out of control for a couple of years until now! I am hoping that my BP meds will be reduced or deleted for me too! I have only lost 34 pounds since surgery, but working on more. Good luck with your meds and new sleep study! Prior to surgery I slept with my CPAP, but haven't used it since 2/13/09. Good luck to you and your new life! LB
  7. Julie Ann - This is a wonderful post! I have had some food issues these past 2 weeks and wasn't sure what I was doing right or wrong. Just yesterday self-discovered all the things you mentioned in your post. I was banded 2/13/09 with a 1.5 cc fill on 3/19/09 and 2nd fill scheduled for 4/16/09. I have from the beginning thought of my lap-band as my "permanent monitor". It has helped me greatly. I have lost 33 pounds since December 2008 and have worked hard at it. I feel much healthier now and will keep on working on it until I reach my goal and beyond. Thank you for your words of encouragement! Laura
  8. CONGRATULATIONS! Be patient! You are so funny! Great story and details! Anyway, enjoy the next couple of weeks getting ready for your surgery. You will be so happy that you decided to go for the lap-band! I have been banded since 2/13/09 and love it! Only lost 30 pounds so far, but see more disappearing! Again, congratulations to you! Laura
  9. Congratulations! I was just banded Friday, 2/13/09. Gas X strips helps GREATLY and walking around. Also, heating pad while laying down on back and shoulders. Just keep moving around and follow doctor's orders! Good luck!
  10. Linda, Congratulations on your band! I was just banded on 2/13. 10 am. I had the same feelings you did when I was being prepped for my surgery. I kept thinking about how I could tell the surgeon I changed my mind...but I didn't. It was scary, but don't remember anything. I have caught myself thinking about why I couldn't just stay on a heathly diet exercise and not do the surgery. I feel better today but am very tired if the liquids. I think my stomach is growling but can't really tell yet. I'm afraid to drink anything other than the doctor recommended for my liquid diet. It will get better! Just hang in there and we can keep in touch with our progress. Laura
  11. Hi, I just turned 51 in November and thumbs up to all of your comments! You are as young as you feel. Don't worry about wrinkles! It will be better to be healthy and enjoying life with your family and friends! I hope to be banded soon - originally scheduled for 1/26, but had a little EKG problem at pre-op, so...now just waiting for surgeon's office to call me to reschedule! Lb
  12. Hi, sounds like you are doing good. Are you still on a clear liquid diet on your 3rd week? Just wondering. I was originally scheduled for surgery on 1/26, but my EKG was abnormal at pre-op, so....I am waiting for a reschedule. Hopefully will know this week! I have to take a stress test and echocardiogram (spelling?) Tuesday. Once test results are cleared then I'll be rescheduled. I just joined the site in December and not sure how to get around on it...how about you? LB

Christy, Congratulations to you! I haven't been banded yet, but awaiting cardiologist release for surgery. I hear everyone say to walk, walk, walk...when will you be able to try other liquids (i.e. broth, water, clear juices)? Just curious...take care and follow doctor's orders! Laura
  14. Shelley, Funny you should ask because I have been thinking the same thing! Laura
  15. Hi, hope you start to feel better! I haven't been banded yet but hopefully soon! Originally scheduled for surgery tomorrow, but my EKG was abnormal at pre-op, so...now I have to see cardiologist and get clearance. Take care and keep us posted of your success. Laura

Sunny, I was originally scheduled for my lapband surgery tomorrow, 1/26, but hit a bump in my road. Went to my pre-op at hospital on Monday, 1/20, and my EKG was abnormal. So, Wednesday I get a call from my surgeon's office to let me know that surgery has been post-poned until I receive clearance from cardiologist. So, now I have to go to cardiologist on 2/5 for initial visit. I was so disappointed! I was so much looking forward to getting started on my new life journey. Hopefully my hearts is fine (never had any problems before) and the EKG machine is in error! But, if not this could have saved my life (so that's what everyone is telling me). I have been doing research since November on lap band surgery and have heard the good and bad. It seems liked the good has been the best pro! Anyway, good luck with your surgery! I will be thinking of you. LB
  17. Newbie, Good luck tomorrow returning to work! I am scheduled for my surgery on Jan 26th (only 1 week to go). Getting nervous and excited at the same time. Have you told anyone at your work about your surgery? Anyway, have a good day tomorrow. I will be thinking of you! Let me know how it went! I will be off for only 1 week after my surgery. Talk with you later, lbergin
  18. Hi, my surgery is scheduled for 1/26. I have been wondering about what kind of bed clothes to take to hospital to wear. I have to spend the night at hospital on the night of surgery. Would you recommend a short gown or pjs (2 piece)? Which do you think would be more comfortable? Thanks, Laura
  19. Haven't had a problem with BC/BS Federal yet...received my approval letter last week. We had to pay surgeon $474 ($300 deductible plus 10%) prior to scheduling surgery date. Please keep me posted on your BC/BS situation. Thanks, LB
  20. Shelly, I can't believe that you are having the same feelings as I am. I thought it just me obsessing about my last meals before the lap-band surgery. My surgery is scheduled for 1/26 and I can't wait. I am starting my pre-op and post-op shopping tomorrow and Monday. I did my shopping for a gown, robe and slippers. I have to stay overnight due to sleep apnea. Did you actually taste test the protein powders yet? Let me know your results! Take care and keep in touch...have to go for now. lb
  21. Shelley, I am new too. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 26th. I start my pre-op diet on Monday, Jan 20th. This weekend is my shopping for pre-op diet and post-op diet and things need for post-op. I am really excited about my lap-band surgery. I too am looking forward to getting my life on track and becoming healthy again. I have great support from my family. I do not know how to work anything on this site yet. We'll learn together! Take care!
  22. Hi, I just scheduled my band surgery today for January 26th. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. Hopefully the time will fly by next week. I start my pre-op diet Jan 19th, which is the same day I have my pre-op at the hospital. Looking forward to being part of the January Banders.
  23. Hello...I am from Orange Park/Middleburg, FL, Clay County. I have an appointment with surgeon tomorrow, 1/13/09, to make appointment for surgery. Getting very excited and nervous at the same time. I will be having my lap band surgery at St. Vincent's in Jacksonville. I'm sure that I will have a lot of questions after tomorrow. I just attended a lap-band seminar in November and have been doing research since that date. I think that the holidays delayed my appointment to schedule surgery, but that's okay. It has given me time to sort of Spring clean and make sure things are in order for surgery. Keep in touch! lb
  24. I am a newby too. It will take me some time to get used to being part of this forum since I haven't ever experienced it before. So, please be patient. Just by listening here and there I feel like there is so much good information at this site and it will help me in the coming days/weeks/months...
