  1. I had my second fill last week. The first couple of days, I could feel more of a "restriction" but, I am back to "normal" again. So, I am stuck on no losing any weight. However, I am not gaining any weight. So, I guess that's good. Yes, it's been 2 months since surgery- I've lost about 20 lbs.. That's more than I can say for the past several years!!

I dont want to admit it though- I have not done any exercises.. My work schedule is hard to get those in there. I work 4- 10 hours days.. On the days that I am off.. I'm exhausted from trying to catch up on laundry, house cleaning & etc. But, I do feel that I have been staying more active than before. I rode my horse last weekend.

My eating habits have changed. In a good way. I have completly stayed away from breads!! Better thing is, I dont crave them either- along with pasta!!

Even thought this seems to be a slow process of losing weight, I feel that it's all good!!

  2. I was banded on Jan 9th, then also has my first fill Feb 4th. Same thing, I did liquids the 1st day.. etc.. OK- I still feel like I can eat like I did before the fill. I don't even have any of the "spasms". I have been chewing my food like crazy- just in case. But, every once in a while when I slip up & dont chew as much, it's been ok.

I know that I have lost almost 20 lbs.. But, this whole past month has been nothing but pure will power. Could I have lost this much weight by will power before the band to lose weight?? Nope.. I just don't want to screw things up inside - especially when I can't see it. However, I'm finding it frustrating that I can't feel anything.. I am just going by.. I guess I should stop eating, or people are watching me eat- I shouldn't eat anymore.

I do remember the restriction that I had after surgery- I guess that is what I am expecting. (and I liked it) :scared2:

  3. I went for my 1st Fill apt today. It was rather interesting. I laid down on a hospital bed & they had an Xray thing to check things out. They found my port this way. It as totally in a different place that I thought that it was. It was lower than my incision site. Then they poke me with a needle. I asked for lidocaine, but they have to inject that one too, so it would've been 2 sticks with a needle. Yeah- never mind. It wasn't that bad. They said that filled me up for 2ccs. So, for the rest of the day, I am to be on liquids only. The next 3 days will be soft/mushy foods.

Well, it's been 6 hours past my fill.. I can't feel the difference yet. I have drank an Adtkins drink, V-8 & had some jello.

  4. Well, I must be in Bandster's Hell!! I wish that only 2 oz would fill me!! I'm keeping my weight down since I lost it from surgery. (about 13-15 lbs) However, I am making sure that I walk. My son & I even rode our bikes on Sunday!! Lots of will power here going on!! I did call my Dr & he even suggested for me to take some Adipex!! I was like, WHAT?? He said that it was to help until I get my 1st fill. Which is Feb 5th. So, I haven't filled the Rx yet, I'm trying the will power.. I do miss the "pressure" feeling that told me to hold off.. But, the good news is that I have lost 3 inches!! I am going to take my pic this weekend - my one month pic. I know that I have lost a size!! (I can pull off my jeans without unzipping them!!)

Funny thing, my friends husband said that my eyes don't look as "puffy".

My husband has been out of town the past week, he said that I am looking good. :blushing:

The girls at work have been so supportive!! They make sure I don't over-do myself with the large dogs that come in. Also, they are starting to ask questions. At first, the reason why I didnt want to tell them - is because of the questions, "I thought that you can't eat that.. or How much have you lost??" But, when they ask me questions, it's more of... "how are you doing?? you seem to be doing very well- I wish that I had your will-power!!"

I guess with all of my other "diets" - I always end up saying to myself.. Oh well, I'm already fat- what will one more "..." do?? LOL Now, it's like - I went through the 6 months nutrition, the psych eval, been through 5 yrs of overweight, PCOS, high cholesterol, borderline of being a diabetic (my mom is now), and everything else that Cigna required & had approved.. I can do it!!

I am looking forward for a wonderful year - a new life!!

  5. Well, I went in for my 2 wk post op appt. Everything is looking good. I was 262 this morning. Down 13 lbs so far. On of my steri-strips have come off.. The incision site looks real good.

I am still rather hungry. Dr Marsden had prescribed me some Adipex to help with the hunger until I get my 1st fill on Feb 5th.

  6.

I am at day 10. It's very hard to control those head hunger habits!! - One thing that really helped me is hot cocoa!! It really helped things go down in the morning & helped with the "chocolate cravings". Also, the other thing that helped was - V8 in a can. I have to make sure I eat every 2-3 hours. or the crazy hunger kicks in!!

ex: hot cocoa - 7 am

    scrambled eggs - 8:30

depends on how the day goes,

    I have a protein shake or V8 at 11-11:30

lunch 12:30-1:30 today I had broccoli cheese soup

    4 pm - protein shake

i had malt-o-meal tonight for dinner..

    or have some potato soup

I know that this is no where near the healthiest - but, it's helping me from trying to sneak in a french fry, potato chip, or easy cookies!! The other thing is- this is still way less that I used to eat. I have even counted these calories (650-800)

I used to eat a good 2500-4000 calories a day!!

  7. I have learned a lot from last week. Had a successful surgery, went to a support group, started back to work, lost some weight & found Bandster's Hell!! LOL

This week I would like to start walking.. So, today I walked for 20 mins around the lake in our neighborhood. It felt real good. I do have a full work schedule coming up. So, I will have to see what I can get done. Heck, even if it's for 3 days- better than none, right?? =)

Each week I have made a commitment that I would start something new..

    Here it is so far:

#1- No sodas - this is from pre-op diet & New Years Resolution

    #2- No french fries.

I usually don't eat them anyways, so this will be an easy one... =)

    #3- Walking 20 mins a day - 3 days min..

  8. Yep, that's what they tell me it is!! I'm real hungry. I continue to stay on "mushies" to make sure I heal properly & feeling No restriction or any "pressure" after eating or drinking anymore. I have read in other posts before where people felt like they could eat a hamburger or did eat one so soon afterwards. At first, I was like- that's crazy!! Yep, this Bandster's hell will make you feel that crazy to do so!! LOL

Sat- the girls at work ordered me a sandwich. Granted- I didn't eat any of the bread or anything. I chopped up the turkey very well & ate the advocados. So, I really didn't eat a sandwich- that was all that I ate from it. It was weird to eat it from a fork. But, it was good. I then finally felt "satisfied" for a longer time perior. (closer to 3 hrs this time) But unfortunatly, it made me feel like- ohh, what else can I eat?? So, for dinner that night I ate tortilla soup. with advocados!! yummy.

I am making sure that I make conscious decisions.

I work at a vet, I always tend to advise others to put their dogs on diets.. Or aftercare from surgery from being "fixed". This time, I AM the PATIENT!! Make sure I take my antibiotics, chewable vitamins, and walk for a better recovery.

Of course, now I started back to work, I haven't walked.. I have been rather exhausted when I get home.

I just don't want the first several pounds that I lost to be a waste!! I have lost about 11 lbs so far.. However, I can tell that I have lost inches as well though.

  9. My surgery went very well. I have been on my liquid diet & have been doing well. I actually went to work for 4 hours yesterday- and another 4 hours today. However, I can tell each day, as I am feeling so much better.. I am also getting hungrier "earlier". Day 1-3 I got plenty of water, jello, protein drinks, etc. So, I was able to go almost 3 hours, without thinking that I needed something.. Tuesday gets here, I'm feeling lots better.. But, the hunger feeling kept coming around sooner.. Then same on Wed.. Now it's Thursday & I feel like that I can not get enough liquids down to keep me satisfied.. I did call my dr & they said it was ok to start on creamy soups and soupy mashed potatoes.

  10. I was ready to go back to work today. Granted I only worked for 4 hours. My incision sites are a little tender.. but not bad at all. I was able to take off the bandages real easy. I thought that was going to be the painful process.

I broke down & ended up telling everyone at work about me getting banded. I feel so relieved that they are very supportive!! I guess I was just expecting- "How much have you lost, why are you eating that." type of questions.. I just don't want this to be another failure on my list.

  11. BG-

I am doing a lot better today- I think that I want to be hungry, or that bad habit of just looking in the fridge to see if anything has appeared in it since the last 5 mins that I checked!! LOL

    ezzie-

It might be a bad thing to stay the night at the hospital.. I don't have a recliner, so trying to get comffy was hard. Then, it seemed like I couldn't bend over to pick up anything. So, being at the hospital overnight- you may get some great service!! =) Don't forget to tip the waitress!! LOL

I have been drinking some sf hot cocoa - lots of help!

  12. Hey- i woke up with hardly any pain/pressure feeling from my incision sites!!

I was even able to sleep in my own bed lastnight as well.

I am doing really well with the liquids only. I think sometimes it's a mind over matter. Or bad habits!! I made spaghetti for my husband & son last night, I had a v8.(made sure I had something tomato based) It was rather weird to not eat the same thing as them, & I also watched my husband eat 2 heaping bowls. wow!! That's about how much I would've eaten. Hum, no wonder why I'm over weight!!

  13. I was banded on Friday- Jan 09, 2009. I went in weighing 273.5 @ 6:45 am.

According to the Dr, I had a text book perfect surgery. He even gave me internal pics of my band & my liver. -ya, I won't be posting those!! LOL

Before I left, I had to drink the barium stuff & watched it go down. I didn't think that fluids would go down THAT fast!! It was neat though. =)

My husband stopped by to pick up my Rx & I was at home @ 9:30 am!! -yes, the very same day!!

I have a dry-erase board on the wall to remind me to walk (every 2-3 hrs), take pain meds (every 4 hrs), take antibiotic (every 8 hrs).

By noon, I walked down the street -5 houses down & came back. Took my pain meds, & went back to sleep!! =)

I am rather sore from the pressure or bruising - other than that, not so bad.. Hey honey, where's my pain meds?? LOL

  14. My name is Jenn & I haven't been banded yet. I have been reading posts for a while, replied to a couple, but that's about it. These past 6 months have been weighing on my mind. Not to mention, going through hoops for the ins. (Cigna) LOL Also, should I tell my friends/family or not, etc. At this time, I have been approved & now waiting on the Dr to call back for the date!!

I am 34 yrs old with one son (12 yrs old now). Married to a wonderful man of 15 yrs. After I had my son, I gained lots of weight - now up to 275!! Hello PCOS!! What I can't believe is that I was 175 at 9 months pregnant!! Now, thinking back to when I was pregnant...

I found out that I was pregnant at 3 months. We thought about kids, but never knew if it would happen. So, my whole out-look on life changed. I started my dr's visits to make sure everything will be ok. In 6 months, I will have a new baby in my life. Started to look forward for the "Big DAY!!" Even though knowing that I would have to go through giving birth, but it would be worth it when it's over. As the days got closer to my due date, I got more nervous & excited. A wide range of emotions. Starting to get ready for it.. (nesting, getting diapers & formula ready & preparing the house)

Well, that's where I am at today. In my LAP-BAND® journey- that is.. Back in July, we decided to go to a Seminar.. Went to my 1st Dr.'s consultation & knew that this is the decision that I want to make. After going through my ins requirements.. (6 mo. diet, sleep study, ekg, etc) I realized that this is going to be another big life changing moment in my life. Now that I am "approved" & my "due date" is near.. I'm now starting to get ready for my "Big Day!!. (nesting, getting house cleaned, going through clothes..) I am feeling excited about giving birth to the new life - ME!!

I am looking forward for the new life!! I know at the beginning I will be scared, like being a new mom, want to do everything right. After a while, it just becomes natural. (that's what I am hoping for anyways!!) Then down the road, I can be proud of myself as I am proud of my child that I have brought into this world!! I know that this isn't a "quick fix", but I also know that I didn't bring in an awesome 7 yr old son who could already play soccer!! LOL

I haven't updated my profile with pics as of yet, but I do plan on posting some in the near future!!

Thanks for taking the time to read, I knew you'd listen!! =)

    Jenn
