  1. I think that this generation will have quite a few "hanoi jane's". Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, etc. I am pretty conservative but I believe EVERYONE has the right to his/her own opinion. My opinion is no more right or wrong that a liberal's opinion. The celebrities seem to think their opinion is more important than everybody else's. I think that is what pi**es me off more than anything else. Why do they think we give a rat's behind about their opinion??
  2. If I were you, I would definitely tell them that it is very inconsiderate of them to be doing this when you are only one month post op(hubby too).***a big hug for you***
  3. Lauren, Green,L8Bloomr, Bjean,Wheetsin, Wendall, just to name a few. There are so many more!
  4. Yeah, the clothes thing is kind of a two edged sword. On one hand it is a great feeling and on the other it is SO expensive. Congrats on your continued weight loss!
  5. Penney's is having a pretty good sale. $20 off 100$. I just ordered a pair of jeans and 4 tops. I am down to a size 16 from a 22 in jeans and down to and XL from a 2x in tops. It is a great feeling but kind of hard on the pocketbook. I keep an eye out for sales! Great job!
  6. I can drink liquids easily (except diet coke). I get uncomfortable after about 3 bites however I can eat 2 cups of mashed potatoes, so I avoid them. Meat fills me up very quickly no matter how well I chew or how slow I eat it. My band gurgles a bit as food goes through.
  7. The smallest fill that I have ever gotten was .2 ccs.
  8. My fills are as follows" 1st fill- 1.5 ccs 2nd fill- .5 ccs 3rd fill- .2 ccs 4th fill- .4 ccs Total- 2.6ccs and I believe that I am at my sweet spot!
  9. lauraj23- I thought the morningstar sausage PATTIES sucked too. I've never tried the links or the chicken patties. I might have to try the chicken.
  10. I agree with Lauraj23 and Faithmd about the chicken salad mixture. It works with tuna too. Since it is kind of a mushie it is good when you first come off liquids.
  11. The kind of ganging up on someone I am talking about is not the pleasant kind! Somehow, I think you enjoy your "cougars"....haha
  12. This topic interests me. I also feel that society as a whole is becoming more stupid. Sometimes I think it is just my view but reading this validates me! Do you guys think that we are just becoming more aware of each other through technology? The internet has definitely brought us into each other's living room! I know some of you are definitely aware of the psychos that post on some boards. (not LBT). It is kinda scary huh? The "pack of wolves" mentality is one thing that I am glad is not prevalent here at LBT. It is also through this technology that we are able to expose these people though who would manipulate and hurt others.
  13. mrspruett replied to late's topic in Rants & Raves
This topic reminds me of a bumper sticker I have seen which expresses my sentiments:"They can have my gun when they pry it from my cold, dead hand." It is our constitutional right to bear arms and if people give up that right then only the bad guys will have guns.
  14. want2beme-Anna Nicole was definitely a beautiful woman(big or small). Just think when you get slim you will probably look like her too. I wish I could be so lucky............Best of luck.
  15. That would be such a tough decision for me. Thankfully, both my children are of average weight. When I remember the horrific treatment that I received in school, I would not fault any parent for trying to spare their child that pain. I honestly don't know what I would do if I were in their shoes........
  16. Our local Walmart is on it's second upgrade. We already had the generic restaurant and the bag carousels. We are now getting a Subway at the front of the store and self checkouts. Most of the stores in the bigger areas near me (30 miles or so LOL), already have these amenities in place. The loading of one's own cart is a sore spot with me. I am healthy and able to load mine, but I have seen young Walmart cashiers stand there while little old ladies and gentlemen load heavy items into their cart. I always think , "Wait, who is getting paid here?". I have actually stepped forward to help elderly people load and the cashier just stands there. WTF.........
  17. Star Jones just seems to milk every situation for publicity. I respect her right to privacy but she shouldn't lie about the way she lost until she needs to make a buck off of her story......
  18. This sounds just like my husband....sullen when I shop and on cloud nine at Home Depot!!! Good post.
  19. L8Bloomr-So your business is an agency that provides home healthcare/caregivers to people who need it ? That sounds like such an interesting field. It is much needed in our society as we are getting older and older as the baby boomers reach retirement and beyond. Bjean-I wish you much good luck on finding good care for your inlaws. As L8BloomR says be very careful.
  20. I started at 272 pounds and size 22. I was banded in April 2007 and I am now at 230 pounds and wear size 20 but they are getting very loose. I was hoping the sizes would go down faster but they haven't. I am happy for the weight loss though.
  21. Lee4love1- I don't think there is anything wrong with your finding a certain race physically appealing. That is no different than liking blondes more than redheads! I guess the same would go for a certain culture too. If a lady is raised in a culture where men are treated like kings, then she will probably treat you like a king. However, I agree with Carlene on this one, it will be short lived and she will become Americanized very soon. That is not to say that you and your lady cannot work through this adjustment period. It is just something that you should be prepared for...... I would also have to question the integrity of a woman who would use a man to gain entrance to another country. Make sure there are true feelings for each other in the equation and not just a mutual agreement of "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours". I would also be very careful with my bank account if I were you as I have heard there are a lot of con artists in these types of arrangements. Goodluck to you!
  22. Marluvia- It sounds like your parents and husband followed the rules and the law. I don't believe it is a coincidence that they have been successful. I think being honest, hard-working, and law-abiding contributes to a successful life. Your sister-in-law on the other hand will probably never be very successful as she is not willing to work to achieve her dreams. From your description of her, she will probably always be looking for the easy way whether it is legal or not. That is the difference. Honesty is an important part of one's character and it does say a lot about an individual when they are willing to do things in accordance with the law. People who are willing to go through the necessary paper work and inconvenience of entering a country legally are much more likely to achieve the American dream IMO. Your parents and husband are the type of people who founded this country and are to be congratulated on their hard work and sacrifice. All the best to you and your family.
  23. Jasmine- your post was not the one that referred to "suburban housewife". It was someone else.... I think. You also were not the one who called me racist. ??????? I am really confused now LOL. You did say forcing my kids to" learn stuff" would make them better human beings but that remark did not offend me. I simply disagreed. You were not in my thoughts at all when I wrote my last post. Sorry if you misconstrued what and who I was referring to. But it doesn't matter anyway. No harm done. You are right about one thing , though, I hate stereotypes. I think I clearly stated that. Green- if you are ever in Indiana, you are welcome in my veggie patch anytime! sbee- I have wondered why immigration doesn't just arrest people at those big rallies too. They are admitting to being here illegally. That does speak to the fact that the government needs to do their part to help with the problem.
  24. Yeah, thanks BJean. I guess that I am thought to be one of the" suburban housewives" of which some have spoken. I am a wife and mother. I work full-time and I am college educated. I have visited 46 of the fifty states but have never been out of the United States. I live in a very rural area of Indiana and do not live in or near the suburbs of a large city.I am not sure if that makes me a "suburban housewife " or not.I don't know what frame of reference EVA uses to make judgements. The same people who so radically defend a person's right to break our country's laws sure are quick to stereotype others. There are numerous stereotypes linked to illegals and even legal hispanics. I have not mentioned nor do I believe in them. Stereotypes are usually false. The picture that I have in my mind of a suburban housewife is probably false too. I have often thought the life of a "suburban housewife" would be nice but I fear that I would soon be bored. My oldest child chose to learn French as her second language and I feel that is most assuredly her perogative. She was not interested in learning Spanish. She should not be forced to learn Spanish neither should my younger child. My daughter has visited France and Italy and just fell in love with the French culture. Why shouldn't our children get to choose a language they wish to learn? I took Spanish only because there wasn't much of a choice at school. I was able to make excellent grades but have forgotten so much of it because I was not interested in it. I have had no real opportunities or inclination to use it. What I don't use, I forget! I love my life. My husband and I have the means to live anywhere we choose. I have never had to resort to criminal activity to get what I need.I never intentionally break laws and I have never had to. Maybe I am lucky or just honest and hard-working, I don't know.I am very active in my community and do not think I own it or the U.S. I am, however, proud of the country I live in and make no apologies for being so. I feel that perhaps since there are 12 million illegals in the U.S. , there are probably some on LBT. If not I am sure there are some who have loved ones who are here illegally. I think this is what brings out such emotion.I have no idea what incites such anger and hostility. I don't really care what a stranger thinks of me but it just goes to show how opinions based on posts can be wrong. Nothing that has been said here has changed my opinion of people who break our laws and come here illegally. I have learned a lot about international economies and life in neighboring countries though. I enjoy learning and there are some very knowledgeable people who post here. BJean, Green, L8BloomR, Derrick, Carlene, Marimaru, Laurend, etc. I could go on and on listing the intelligent and thoughtful folks here. Like I said, I love to learn. Learning is always good but freedom to learn is even better. I am not a bigot or a racist. It has even been suggested that I am a bad human being because I disagree with people coming here illegally. That is just foolish! Differences of opinion are such a big part of our culture. People are quick to say that this is a "melting pot" but sure don't leave room for a disagreement.LOL I ,for one, get tired of talking about my band all the time. I enjoy a lively debate and presentation of different points of view. I can do that without resorting to personal attacks and insults. Many of you also debate without insulting. Kudos to you. People come into the R&R forum and say that they want to talk only about their band. Why are they in here then? That is what we do in all the other forums, isn't it? Wow, this has turned into a novel. What I have said is from my heart and I appreciate all of you who take the time to share your thoughts and opinions with me. It is AWESOME.
  25. hijack----- Hey Laurend, how are you feeling? I am glad to see you are back posting at LBT. Remember, walk and sip, walk and sip, LOL.
