Fellow Albertans Help Me!!!!
Hi! I'm from Grande Prairie and I went to Toronto for my surgery. I paid 15,000 and I get my fills in Calgary or St Albert. (New Drs seem to be popping up everywhere...but I've found my "sweet spot" and don't need any more adjustments) My surgery was done at The surgical Weight Loss Centre, by Dr Cobourn. Toronto Weight Loss Obesity Surgery Lap Band Bariatric Surgeon Gastric Bypass I seriously considered Mexico, but opted to pay more and get the best I could here in Canada. (It went a long way toward comforting and reassuring my family and friends as well) TLBC in Toronto was also ranked high on my list of possible choices. I ended up deciding on Dr Cobourn because I loved how often he would call and talk to me directly about ANY of my concerns. I am SUPER happy with my band, and I wish you the BEST of luck in taking this big step toward health and happiness! If there's anything else I can tell you about my experience, let me know. Take care! Sunshine:biggrin2:

Could I get someone to kick my *ss, please?
Ha! I love it! No make up would scare the hell outta me...I'll try it. Hope I don't feel like hiding in the house...just cuz I look so bad. I do walk my sweet little pooches...but they are so tiny, it hardly counts as exercise for me. And if I dare venture farther than 2 blocks or so, they wimp out and want mommy to carry them. (Lazy like me, maybe?)lol I spend hours and hours down in my basement, on the computer working...and it seems like when I come upstairs the day is wasted. Need to be creative, I guess. :cry

Susan's Solemn Silliness
Ditto, Andrew. I'm looking forward to Big Medicine, too, but I'm worried about the picture they will paint of WLS. I'm hoping it's not grouped amongst all these plastic surgery, vanity induced fluff pieces.

Could I get someone to kick my *ss, please?
Hi guys, I have a confession to make. :phanvan I do not exercise.:think I did my half hour per day last summer during my pre-op diet...but haven't got off my butt since then... I spent thousands on this, travelled across the country, relearned how to feed myself, dropped 75 lbs, etc... You'd think I could take that extremely important step and EXERCISE this new body. I have no excuses. I weigh so much less, moving should be 10 times easier...why am I so lazy?!! I'm ashamed of myself. I need a kick in the butt. Seriously folks. Wind up those kickin' feet. I've been reading dozens upon dozens of threads about what everyone is doing, and how they are taking care of themselves...and secretly hoping it will motivate me enough, but so far all I feel is guilty and LAZY. I love you guys... ...does anyone have some tough love for me? lol

YAY!!!! Hooray for you!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Doesn't it feel like your life is already different? We can relate to your fears of losing food...but boy is it ever FUN to replace those old unhealthy comforts with positive, joyful, healthy ones!! I did the same thing as you before surgery. Not too many people needed to know, cause I didn't need their opinions! It's so great to be healthy again...and now you're on your way!!! Congrats!!!

Pre-op
LeslieLee, Just an aside, make sure you are NOT constipated when you go in for surgery. Sometimes all that Protein with no Fiber will slow things in that department... You don't want to be straining afterwards, and being "empty" will certainly speed up your ability to pass the gas after surgery,(which for alot of people is their only pain afterwards) :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: BEST OF LUCK !!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: The "other side" is AWESOME!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Grande Prairie, Alberta
Hey fellow Canucks... I just wanted to create this thread, so that if anyone were to search Grande Prairie, Alberta. They would find me. I was banded 10 months ago, and I am happily enjoying a new life that I honestly doubted was possible. I read so many other wonderful stories of hope, and barely dared to imagine it was possible for me too. It's hard to believe that I am now one of the lucky ones living on the "other side". If there is anyone thinking about Lap Band surgery in my area, and would like someone to talk to. I'm here for you! Drop me a line anytime... I'll dish about the good and the bad. Until then, peace out, my bandy buddies!
