I went to the Dr to get a fill today and they weighed me first-i had lost 12 lbs this month and was totally shocked!!! My scales were 6 lbs off and i thought i had only lost 6...She wouldn't give me a fill since i had lost that much. I thought that my first fill didn't do any good-boy was i wrong-something must be working right-so i am going to keep on doing what i am doing which is having coffee and a granola bar for Breakfast, a childs plate at Western Sizzlin which i get for 1.91(they give me the bar but i get charged for the side salad), then when i get home i have a hamburger about an inch with a slab of melted cheese on top. I dip this in mayo and mustard mixed together. Thats about it except that sometimes i eat cereal in the am or scramble eggs. I am still in total shock and can't believe that i am eating all this food and still losing weight.
  2. Hi All, I am interested to know what is going on with you people that had the lap band done in 2005-i had mine on Dec 23, 2008 and i am just wondering where i might be and if it still works later on down the line. In four years if i have reached goal will i still not be hungry?????
  3. I just got back from going to get my fill----well i didn't get a fill-they said i had lost 12lbs this month and that was good enough-wow i couldn't believe it-my scales must be wrong or i didn't remember what i weighed when i went last time. i am really eating a lot i think. Eat a hamburger patty (thick) withcheese on top for dinner, a real meal for lunch and usually some kind of slim fast bar or something like that for breakfast.. I have started walking 2 miles a day 3 days a week so maybe that is what did it-i just can't believe it--i am really eating as much as i want and what i think is a pretty good bit. Most of the time i keep everything down unless i do drink a big swallow of something before i eat and maybe one during.
  4. My Dr doesn't like to do fills early due to the healing process. When i was really hungry like that i ate a 40 calorie fudgesicle or even two if i needed to quench my hunger. I also drink a lot of crystal lite in the bottle and carry it around with me.

Hey All, If you are like me you feel like you now have an option-before you had tried everything to lose weight and nothing worked and you had just given up and ate, ate, ate trying to make yourself feel better. I too am losing weight and since i started the Sugar Busters diet before the surgery I crave protein where i used to crave sugar(it is really weird) I will have my second fill tomorrow and i am almost tempted to tell them to just leave me the way i am. I am eating about 1,000 -1500 calories a day and losing about a pound a week-it ,might take me a little longer but i plan on keeping it off the rest of my life.
  6. I know we're not supposed to drink but occasionally when eating hot food or something that dries your mouth out -its juwst habitual if you have a drink on the table to take a swig-well i just don't order a drink now because if i do drink i have to go regergitate-not throw up like vomiting, but the liquid jsut comes back up and some of the food too. Chewing the food very well really does help too.

My situation was totally different-I had surgery on Dec 23rd- the next day was Christmas Eve. I came home slept a while-woke up got up watched TV-took no pain Meds or Nausea Meds-didn't need them. Went to bed. The following AM(Christmas Eve) I got up made Christmas cookies to take to my sisters. Drove 25 miles to her house and sat around with no pain and no nausea. This surgery was a breeze for me-I went on the sugar busters diet before the surgery about 7 days to shrink my liver for the surgery. I lost 10 lbs before the surgery. I got serious about that liver shrinking thingy. I have now lost about 30 lbs. Nothing drastic, just slow weight loss and i go for my second fill tomorrow. So every surgery is not the same. I guess that i am just a tough old bird...I am 57
  8. At first there isn't much and sometimes very little saline put in(when lap band is installed) so there isn't a lot of restriction. I just tried to watch what i ate and tried to stay under 1,000 calories. Some Dr.'s are different i guess and put in more saline initially. I have had one fill (not a big fill) and am losing about a lb or more a week. So i am happy with that-so what if it takes me two years to lose it all it took me a heck of a lot longer to put it all on!!!! By the way if people are cutting their calories they should be losing weight-makes you wonder if they just think they arae cutting their calories huh??

I did the same as you did, they put in 3cc and i started burping one right after another when i drank the water, so she took out 1/2 cc. I am eating a pretty good bit but try to stay under 1,000 calories and i am losing about a lb or a little more a week. I am eating no sugar and very little bread or starch. I drink crystal lite and eat a lot of 40 calorie fudge sicles when i really want something sweet. I go for a fill tomorrow and am hoping that i can eat a little less. Even now I am eating about half or more than i used to eat.....so good luck
  10. I just had the surgery on Dec 23rd and it says not to lift over 10-15 lbs for the first 6 weeks on mine. My port is up on my shoulder and not close to my abdomen. I have had no problems and it was much easier than i thought it would be. I have had no solid food for almost 4 days now and have not been hungry at all, even during Christmas dinner at my sisters.
  11. I had my lap band surgery in Albany too, by Dr. Bagnato. No problems and not enough pain to even take the liquid pain medicine that he prescribed. The next day I was up and around getting ready for Christmas. I work at the Marine Base in Albany.
  12. Hi, everyone-this is great.....I have still not had any pain medication and all that i feel is like bruised inside. The incisions do not hurt and they used that super glue like stuff. I am still eating popsicles and crystal lite. Had a cup of coffee (decaf) one day. I haven't had any food now for 5 days and am not hungry as long as i keep drinking my liquids. I am watering down my fruit juice. I feel like there is gas in there in my upper chest that won't burp up but other than that i am fine. I have a large scar under my left arm-prob about 4 inches long-this is from the port entry i think-my Dr puts the port in your left shoulder between the upper part of your breast and your collar bone. Don't ask me why because i don't know. I weighed today and i am at 270. started at 288. The sugar busters diet is basically like the adkins diet a lot-nothing white just meat and vegetables and a few fruits. But it works. I have my follow up Dr visit on the 30th, will let you all know how it went. I can't wait until i can exercise in 6 weeks.:tongue2:
  13. Well here it is the day after my lap band installation-I have not had to take any pain medication or nausea meds. I am just a little sore -mainly where the port was put int. I have a small amount of the gas still left in my stomach cavity, but i am told it will go away soon. I am planning on driving to my sisters house which is about 30 miles this afternoon. The hiatle hernia surgery was small and he said not as bad as he thought. I am eating popsicles coming and going and drinking tea, coffee, water, and chicken broth(which was very good and made form fresh chicken)The whole thing took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I got up at 6am and started wrapping presents. I started on the Sugar Busters diet a week before surgery and i have lost 12 lbs already.
  14. Thanks for the info-by the way -what is sleeve surgery-I am so nervous tonight since my surgery is tomorrow. Hope i can relax tomorow.
  15. HI, I am really getting nervous about this surgery just two days before Christmas. Wonder if I will be able to go to my sisters on Christmas day? I have done really well on the Sugar Busters diet before the surgery and have already lost 13 lbs and seen lots of Christmas goodies come and go-but didn't even get off the wagon one time. I have read lots of good stories and a few bad ones, but nothing is gonna stop me now-its full speed ahead. Hope to be under 200 by June. I was 288 before i started the Sugar Busters diet. I am 6 feet tall so no one can really tell that I have lost 13 lbs even.
