    Praise Report

July 10, 2009 Today I decided to wear a sleeveless top for the first time in approximately 10 years. I feel liberated. After spending the last couple of months noticing others who wore sleeveless shirts, I decided to get out of my box. My husband was impressed and noticed immediately. I feel very good about the progress that I have made on this journey.

  3. This is a very good question. I have lost nearly 40 lbs and still can't tell it when I look in the mirror. Although I wear sizes 10 and 12, when I look in the mirror I see a size 16. I have gotten numerous compliments, so I know that others can see the difference. I think this is why I always gained the weight back in the past. The irony of it all is that once I gained the weight back, I could see it in photographs.

    Anyone lose any rings?

This is such a great problem to have! My wedding ring finger has shrunk and so has my wrist apparently:)
  5. Hey banded notorious Novembers, We should start our own recommitment challenge for one month to kick start our weight loss and refocus. What are three band rules and/or other weight loss strategies that you would like to recommit to? Mine are (1) drink 64 ounces of water, (2) 10,000 steps per day, and (3) stop eating my favorite slider foods including ice-cream, cookies, and chips. In addition, we have to commit to check in three times per week. Are you guys in? We are NOT going to wait until Monday, let's start now...when you become aware of this challenge that will be your official start day. What are you going to recommit to for the next month?
  6. You have done very well. We were banded on the same day and you have lost a lot more weight. Like you, I have gone several weeks without losing any weight. I think we just need to keep on keeping on. Look at how far we've come.

    Sudden restriction?

When I think I have figured my band out, it changes. I know that during my TOM it becomes very restricted. I am normally more restricted in the mornings too.
  8. People who don't understand the lapband procedure will say anything. Those of us who are living with the lapband must do as you guys have done and do our research.
  9. If you don't feel better soon, please call your doctor to make sure that all is well. I love your positive spirit.

    Protein foods...

Congratulations on your weight loss thus far. Like a previous post, I am trying to drink a protein shake every morning for breakfast. I buy the EAS Chocolate Fudge shakes and put them in the freezer for an hour and it tastes really good and has 21 grams of protein. Since I don't typically eat breakfast, it does give me a good start. Also, I like to snack on bacon strips after breakfast and lunch.

    carbonated beverages!!!!!

I am very proud of myself because this is one of the band rules, per se, that I have actually followed. I guess too the idea of creating another stomach or stretching my pouch seems like a complete waste of $13,500 since I was self-pay. I do have a friend who also has the band and drinks watered-down carbonated drinks. Good luck.

    Very Frustrated....Help!

Ashley, I wholeheartedly understand your frustration because I have been there. I had my surgery November 20, 2008 and up until March I had only lost about 20 lbs. After my fourth fill, I began to lose weight again. In 8 months, I have lost nearly 40 lbs. It has been slow, but it has been much better than gaining weight. Again, I understand how you feel, but I want to encourage you to take one day, one week, one month at a time and the weight will come off. We can do this. Let's try not to look back with regrets, but look forward to the possibilities.
  14. Yikes...I appreciate your positive attitude during this difficult time. You're a trooper. I hope you continue to feel better:)
  15. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog to leave words of encouragement. We all need to be helpers and encourager to one another.

    I am still striving

July 1, 2009 175 lbs. Chest - 36.5" Waist - 31" Hips - 42" Arms - 12.5" Thigh - 24" During the month of June, I did okay. I didn't gain any weight. I only lost about 3 pounds and a couple of inches. However, progress is progress as I said in an earlier post. I think I am headed in the right direction. I have been walking every morning at 5:30 a.m. for about an hour and I have been lifting weights after work. I really don't know how that's going to work. I am extremely pleased with my current look. I am wearing sizes 10 and 12 and the 12's are very loose. I am feeling more confident. I just don't want to become complacent. I want to make it to goal this time. I am less than 25 lbs. away and I want to go all the way to my goal. I am very sore right now and it feels so good because it's a reminder of all the hard work waking up early in the morning to walk and taking the time after work to lift. I hope to continue to work to improve the following: 1. Drink more water. 2. Eat more protein. 3. Post on this blog

  21. I can't eat tuna or chicken salad...chicken and fish are both hit or miss. I don't particularly enjoy pork, but I have never had a problem with it. I can eat bacon all day. I call my band psycho because sometimes I can eat one thing and other times I can't.
  22. Congratulations on your success and I wish you much more... The band is just a tool and you worked it... you lost so...much weight in so...little time that it is truly amazing. That success is attributed to you and your dedication. Keep up the good work!

    Weight gain! What The!!!

I understand how you feel. This is an awful experience. I have an ongoing, daily, emotional relationship with my scale and it still amazes me how my weight varies. I have found that taking my measurements once per month has helped keep me motivated because even though I have only averaged a weight loss of 5 lbs per month, I have lost a lot of inches. Stay focused on your long term goal...
