Newly banded
Everything changes after your first fill. I is normal to be able to eat like a prebandster if you aren't filled yet. It may take more than 1 fill to meet optimal level so hang in there.

Newly banded in New Mexico
Sounds like you are on your way. Just make sure you follow the bandster rules and you will do fine. Congrats.

Yvonne, congrats on this life changing lapband. I have been banded since June and definitely do not regret it. The recovery time is easy I think. The only difficulty was the soreness of the port site. Good luck.

Hi Buffy, I'm down around 40 lbs so far. I have another 40 lbs to lose afterwards. I lost 40 preop. Good luck.

Having problems getting Psycologist approval
Is she a doctor your surgeon recommended? Make sure you go to one of their doctors.

Going for the Consult!!
When I initially met with my surgeon he told me all about the lapband vs. gastric bypass. He actually showed me what the band looked like. It was a great meeting. From there I had to make my psych eval and meet with a nutritionist. I also had to have some blood work run. Hope this helps. The process took about 6 weeks.

Hi, I'm new
Jen, congrats on making the decision. You will not regret it.

new and overwhelmed
You are doing great. 13 lbs can be normal for a week postop, especially if you are on liquids.

Waiting patiently for insurance approval
Congrats on your insurance approval. That is always the difficult part. Way to go!

Happy with McKeen / fill / Utah
Funny, we talked about first bite syndrome last week when I saw him. Congrats on your weight loss to date. We are in good hands with McKeen. Take care.

Time off work?
I would wear something lose fitting back home for sure.

Happy with McKeen / fill / Utah
Mckeen is the best. He did my lapband in June. He has done hundreds of them. I think he currently has 400 patients. He is awesome.

Do You Weigh Yourself Naked Or Clothed?
My scale always cheats me out of a lb or 2 when I weigh clothed.

Hi Amy. congrats on your impending surgery. You will love your band.

Looking into lapband..........
I love my lapband. I can eat anything I want butr smaller portions. I do miss eating 6" subs from Subway. Bread and eggs are always difficult to get down. Anyway, long story short, I wouldn't want it any other way. Good luck with your decision.

Medical mystery - was leaking but growing more restricted at the same time
Sounds like you are in good hands with Doctor Ortiz and staff. Keep up the faith. You will be okay.

Afraid I've blown it....
I didn't have a preop diet and my doctor had no issues. Maybe you'll be the same?

Ever sick of Band?
I am considered a slow loser at 1 lb a week but it really adds up. I don't really think too much about being banded. I don't miss fattening food very much. I would like to be able to eat a 6" sub from Subway but I can't now. I just go with the flow. I've reached my sweet spot and things are moving along nicely now. Good luck.

Something To Ponder
I don't diet at all. I eat and stop when I'm full now. I have gotten away from limiting myself. The band is doing its job.

Pain Level From Surgery
My pain was minimal. I just was a little sore from the incisions.

Secret? Yes or No.
If you need a week off work I wouldn't tell your boss why. If you have to lie then I would say the cyst. I would never tell a co worker in such a small office. My 2 cents.

How many times to eat a day
I can't do eggs at all. That is common.

about to be banded!!
Judyaz, best of luck to you with your lapband journey.

How many times to eat a day
I eat like a bird. I have a protein shake in the a.m. and some additional protein with lunch and dinner. I only eat when I am hungry. Sometimes it is multiple times a day, other times it is only now and then. I don't give it too much though.
