Loss of a good friend by her choice
Nope, my name is definitey Julie. Funny how our stories are so familiar. Thanks for cheering me up today. I've been crying alot. I am devastated. I just hope she remember that while I may have not been "attentive" the last couple years....I was for 23 of them. Thanks.

Tortilla chips for the soul
I have the exact symptoms that you do. I can't eat anything until noon time. At noon I have a protein shake with 25 grams of protein. I then proceed to eat 1-2 oz of tuna fish mixed with mayo and relish, no bread. I often snack on almonds, yogurt or cheese sticks. I eat just a tiny bit of protein at dinner. I consume 800-1k calories a day on this diet. I try and sneak in a non fat latte during the day too. I love the caffeine. Also, the golf ball feeling you are getting sounds exactly like what I get. My surgeon said it was more like first bite syndrome. It usually passes then you can proceed to eat. You just have to take it slow.

3 Years Out...Disillusioned, frightened and ashamed-Any takers?
ABP, you are very courageous to tell us exactly what has been going on with you. The beauty of the band is we can always get back on track. Put the past behind you. We always make mistakes, I know I have. Meet with your surgeon and let him know you would like an upper GI and see what he says. It will not hurt. In the meantime, try and eat like a bandster no more than the allottment and you should be okay. You will be on the losing track again now. Oh and BTW, it might be time to get yourself a digital scale. You need to be accountable. Good luck.

PB Timing?
Tom, I generally know if I am going to PB within a couple minutes of eating. I would say I PB within 2-3 minutes. Good luck.

Loss of a good friend by her choice
Travelgirl, thanks for the different perspective. I've been racking my brain trying to figure this out. She told me it has been going on for a few years. The only thing I can think of is we moved away from each other and we don't see each other very often, often communicating via email threads and such. At any rate, I appreciate your honesty. My only hope and prayer is that she will come to her senses soon.

Does Anybody Lose Serious Weight?
I'm considered a slow loser at 1 lb a week. I have lost almost 50 lbs in 9 months. It can be a long process. It depends on if you follow the band rules, how much you exercise, drink water, etc. etc. Good luck.

Concerned about proper nourishment pre and post-op!
Hi Judy, can you do protein shakes? I'm not sure how much sugar are in them but they are a life saver for me. I eat one a day then a small lunch and dinner. I think the life saver for you will be to eat a ton of small meals a day. Like a cheese stick, some protein, maybe even a protein bar. That way your insulin will stay okay.

Slow Losers - Unite!
Snickers bar? Tell me why that would be a healthy choice? How much protein is in one of those!?

Smoking!
I'm a smoker and it didn't affect me with the surgery at all. I healed perfectly. Thanks for the tip on Chantix. I go into my doctor next week and I'm going to see if he will help me quit too. Good luck with your surgery. You will love being banded.

Helen, you are doing great! If you are worried about your doctor not mentioning going on liquids do liquids for 1 day then mushies then solids. You will be fine. Good luck.

2 weeks after surgery and hungry
Yes, it is normal to be hungry. You will get a lot of help after your first fill. Good luck.

Newly Banded and very emotional
My surgeon instructed me to eat anything that moved through a straw. That included creamy soups. They saved my life. YOu just can't eat the meat or other items you may find in them. Cream of broccoli goes down great and will not hurt your band. Good luck.

I'm approved!!

Omg...i Gotta Stop Reading
Its natural to be scared. I cried before my surgery. YOu will do fine. Just don't read too much into the negative threads.

New and looking for advice!
Try and keep you calories to 1k a day, you should lose at a good pace this way. Try to also keep your meal intake to no more than a cup. If you do this you are sure to lose. BTW, the hunger will go away after your fill. Good luck.
