  1. Happy 42nd Birthday luckyjyn!

  2. I had the same issue last month. I was banded Dec 08' hit a plateau and then it was downhill from there. The one thing that I had to remind myself is that this is journey and a learning process. I have come up with several mottos at different stages of this whole process. The first one was during pre-surgery diet and the 6wk period after surgery.............."A hunger pain has never killed anyone." The second one came along with daily, hourly, or minute to minute battles with my cravings or food desires..........."This is why they say weight loss is hard." or " This is why it's called a weightloss battle." Then I decide in that very moment if I want to win this battle. Sounds corny but it helps. The third one I came up with the other night when my husband fixed a huge pan of cornbread (southern dish with lots of bacon grease), everyone else had eaten and they left half of it on the stove and it was staring really hard at me! Well, as I threw it in the trash I thought........"Better in the trash than on my thighs!!!!" If something is that tempting to me I throw it in the trash..........dont get me wrong I might take 1 bite or 2 first, but that's not a big deal to me. Anyway..........I have started losing again and have regained my confidence.......You can do it girl, dont ever give up on yourself!!!

    Low Carb Banders Unite

Hi everyone. I was just wondering how many grams of Carb do you limit in your diet daily? I am doing high protein and low calorie and that seems to work well, but just curious about the carbs. Thank you!

    4 Months!!!

    Congrats Pete!! Whew hooo!!!
  5. Dont be so hard on yourself, it has taken years to form the habits and thoughts that occupy your mind and will take a while break those old habits and patterns of thought. Take pride in the fact that you took the first giant step by getting the lapband in the first place. I have weeks where I dont do great and feel that I have over done it. The great thing is if I realize that I am not doing as good as I should then I can claim ownership of my actions and try to do better. You dont have to be perfect, just do the best you can and feel good about it! You and the life that you want are worth it!

    Mississippi Bandsters!

Ok where is everyone? We have just sort of fell off posting here! Don good to see that you are doing so good. The crazy thing that I have noticed are the days that I think I havent done that great on, I actually lose and then on the days where I have really watched NADA!!! Just crazy. I think I need to get back to keeping a food journal so I can really keep up with what I am actually eating. OK everyone - hope you all have a good day! OH, I Love the fact there are so many Mississipians working on this obesity epidemic! YAYYY US!! Louisiana actually passed us up in 08'!!!! Bad for them, but I'm sure we are #1 at something else!

    Banded 12/19

Hi Joly I was banded on 12/18 and like you I'm excited about the new year and summer................first time in a long time! Congrats on your 23lbs!!! I'm stuck at or about 21lbs............hopefully my first fill will help with some of that. Anyway - good to see you here!!
  9. I am doing very good. I am like you, I have a 14 month old at home, but thank goodness her older brothers were out of school and were able to help me with her. I was banded Dec 18th and for some reason that seems like it was ages ago!!! I lost weight so good for the first couple of weeks, but since starting mushies I've stalled at 20lbs. When do you get your first fill?

    Mississippi Bandsters!

Hang in there Don - this is a new way of life for all of us and we have to learn new habits. We will all cave at times, but then have to get up, dust ourselves off and get back with the program. Also I heard that it takes a few fills before you get to optimal restriction, so dont be so hard on yourself!
  11. Hi there - so sorry I just realized you posted to me back in Dec. I am doing pretty good. I am up & moving all around but not back to excercising yet. Although, I guess having a 2yo is like a workout! I feel like I never really had much time to recoup with her around:) Luckily my husband had 2 weeks off to help me. When were you banded? and how is your sucess & recovery going? Faith

Joann, I know exactly what you mean. I was just thinking - what if I do this in front of someone? Then I thought - Oh well, it's so necessary at this point in time.

    Protein help?

Hey Smiles, just wanted to let you know that Egg Beaters is a great egg substitute without the calories and fat. I'm 11 days post op and my doc said I could have this. I bought the original kind and it tastes almost exactly the same.
