    taking medication post op

Linda, You may have to initially crush or cut your tablets. The fish oil is best left out for the first week, until some of the swelling has subsided. I have a pill splitter and was able to take the glucosamine cut into 4. Pyretta

    de - Gas Tablets

charlimc, Yes you can take DeGas tablets and they may work. Another good thing for the gas is peppermint tea. Gentle strolling is the best way to get the gas out. Make sure you keep taking your painkillers every 4 hours whether you feel like you need them or not. Pyretta

    Aussie product equivalents?

I've helped compile this list on an ozzie site: Immediately post op you wont be able to have much for a few hours, and you must sip slowly!!! perhaps 50mls at a time for a while. (everyones experience is different but this is pretty much what you can have) anything you have must be thin enough to fit up a straw, and have NO LUMPS. if you need to Water things down try doing it with milk which helps with Protein . liquid Vitamins are important (Iron is essential) immediately post op - ice chips or water next day- (after baruim swallow if that is your surgeons thing) clear broth apple juice peppermint tea (good for the wind) jelly? day 2 you should be able to start milk drinks - sustagen, up n go, tea or coffee, milo, etc Soup but still thin drinking yoghurt vegie juice prune or pear juice if you are having issues moving your bowels. Low fat frozen yoghurt in little 100gram tubs ww custard with extra milk to be thin enough(yummm) ww mousse smoothies snack pack ice cream Put anything you're not sure of through a sieve. by day 4 or 5 you possibly could drink 250ml in about half an hour to an hour. by then end of your 2 or 3 weeks of liquid you can start thickening up your things in preparation for mushy stage.

    waiting time private health?

Perth bridetobe, yes they are it was in a report released a few weeks ago when they were approved for the rate increase. I'm not sure which health funds are dropping the cover but I think NIB was one of them. Just be careful and check with the fund prior to taking out your insurance, or alternatively, if you already have insurance and find you aren't covered, move to one that does cover it. Most will waive the waiting period if you have already had similar cover with another health fund. Pyretta

    waiting time private health?

Just be careful which health fund you choose as some are now removing coverage for lap band surgery

    lap band seminars

Jacquitiger, Most surgeons now ask their patients, or prospective patients to attend seminars prior to banding so they get some idea of what is involved living banded.

    Wanting Melbourne contacts

The group that meets in the West is the Werribee Lap banders. Deb has been running this monthly meet up for a few years now in her own home. The next one is on Feb 8. Pyretta

    Wanting Melbourne contacts

Hi, I've just joined this site but have been active on a few different Lap banding boards since 2005. I was Banded back in October 2007, but had a few setbacks during 2008 :thumbdown:and have only had restriction since December 2008.:scared2: My starting weight was 196kg:eek:, I shed over 60kg using Optifast prior to being banded. I was banded at 132kg but because of the setbacks last year am currently sitting on 166kg:cursing: I live in Lalor, which is a Northern suburb of Melbourne and have hosted a few get togethers at University Hill in Bundoora. Anyway I suppose that's my introduction. Pyretta [/url]
