  1. Bethany, I just PM'd Dr. Chae's cell number to you T-bonz
  2. A-wenz :scared2: I'd definitely be interested in meeting someplace in addition to the monthly meeting.... Anyone else? I'm in Aurora, but certainly willing to drive a bit to meet. Hope all is well!

    Yes!!! Sixty down!!!!

Woo Hoo! Congratulations on your loss! You should be very proud of yourself, what an accomplishment! Don't you just LOVE your band?! But, it's not just the band. YOU did it! The band wouldn't work without YOUR efforts! Great job!!!
  4. I've lost: The amount of cheese an average American eats in a year AND a human head! Talk about putting it into perspective! Thanks for this post, those equivalents are great!!!

    T-i-g-h-t!!!

Carbgrl, I'm in the same boat as you are this weekend. I had a 0.5 cc fill on Friday, able to swallow H2O fine at the Dr.'s office. I'm up to 5cc in 10cc band, this was my 3rd fill. Saturday AM, tight. All day, tight. 8pm, able to eat (swallow) tomato Soup just fine, also drank 40 oz of Water before I went to bed. This morning, tight again! Eek! I'm going to see how it goes today and tomorrow. I'm hoping that it's just a little swelling and will calm down. I've also read that some people are tighter in the mornings, maybe that's part of it, too? I know how you're feeling, it'll get better. If not, both of us might be going for an unfill. Good luck! Lost 175 So Far!!!!!!!

Congratulations on your success so far! It sounds like you have made the adjustment to the new lifestyle that the band brings. I really like the message that your last sentence portrays, "It doesn't matter how we get to the goal just as long as we arrive safe, healthy and most of all HAPPY." It is so important to maintain a positive attitude as we go through all of this. I wish you all the best during the rest of your journey  T-bonz
  7. MsFab19888 - Thanks for the tip on the Isopure. I haven't tried it yet, but will check it out. Good luck tomorrow, you'll do just fine! Congrats on the 13 pounds you've already lost! Great job! T-bonz
  8. Teresa, Thank you for leading the group...it went really well! It was wonderful to hear so many ideas and tips from everyone Also, you were great with keeping everyone on track and participating...excellent job! Your stories and examples were very touching, especially about your son. Thank him for all he has done for us to keep us safe. For me, with the Vitamins...I take a few other pills in the AM. The vitamins have just become a part of those...as soon as I get up I drink some H2O, take the pills and vitamins and wait a bit before eating. Then, in the evening I take the vitamins again right before brushing my teeth. What helps me to remember is having the Vitamin bottles out in the bathroom so that they are visible. It's already become a habit to take 'em, whereas I never took vitamins before. I bought 'em, but never took 'em! Will definitely see you next month at the support group and glad you found LapBandTalk. T-bonz aka Tommye

    Starbucks Coffee Anyone?

I'm a total Starbucks fiend! The surgery has put a little bit of a cramp in my style, but I have found something that I like...with NO calories. I'm not a fan of their regular coffee...it's too strong for me, so I get a TALL iced Americano (2 shots of espresso with Water and ice) but I ask for it in a VENTI cup, that way, it's diluted with more water and ice. Add a few splenda and it's a perfect iced coffee. If you order it that way, you could ask for room and add some skim milk if you'd like. I have found that with a tall in a venti cup, it's a nice mild iced coffee. Be sure to tell them to fill the rest of the cup with ice and water, otherwise, they'll give you a venti cup that is half full  That's my latest favorite. I'm sure you could use some sugar free syrup in it, too Enjoy!
  10. Good for you! You'll be there soon, for sure!! Great job with the band! :tongue2:

    What is....

Addelapp5, That must be SOME roast beef! I like the comparison to other roast beef! I'll have to try it. This, coming from the girl who hasn't eaten red meat for 17 years...yes, 17 years. Was banded June 1st and had BEEF Jerky last week. Mmmm....it was good! Thanks for the tip on the Whole Foods deli meats

Confused, How much can you eat?

ParrotheadCathy, Wow, you have had a great loss so far! What are your favorite Protein sources? In the 4 1/2 months, have you eaten many of the whole grain carbs? I've been banded since June 1st and have really just been eating protein: ground turkey, boca burgers, cottage cheese. I have had fruit a few times, and veggies only once. I'm sure as I progress I'll be able to eat more veggies, but wonder about the carbs. I can't say I miss them, which, I suppose is a good thing! I feel like I have a lot more energy since being banded and I do believe it has to do with the lower amount of sugar in my diet. Keep up your great work, I hope to have such success! T-bonz
  14. Dab, Congratulations on your amazing success! You have really learned to work your band, you should be very proud of your accomplishment! You are an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others that have read this post. Keep up the great work and you will definitely meet your next stated goal! I was just banded on June 1st, 2009 and am learning what works for me and what doesn't. You have done so well! Great job!! :bored: T-bonz
  15. Hi! I've been trying to schedule my first follow up appt since last week and haven't been having any luck...grrr...it's so frustrating. I feel like I'M being a pest, but all I'm trying to do is schedule an appointment! Ms. Paisleypea - hope all is well with you, you're a little over a week out...how are you feeling?! I agree with all of you, Dr. Chae is great!! I'm approaching 1 month out and feel great! I can't wait to see where all this takes me!
  16. Hey Breanne...hope that you're back at home and that all is well. You'll be feeling better soon!! Tommye

  17. Breanne,

So far, so good :) The adjustment to the new eating hasn't been as difficult as I thought it would be. Seems like a lot of it is just "in my head." I've vowed to go by the book as much as I can because I want this to work for me....I think that's why I've been eating exactly as they have instructed. I've been hungry a little in the past few days, but try to distract myself...

I wish you a quick recovery and I'm excited for you! Tommye

  18. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you on Friday! Everything will go great for you and you'll be on your way to the new you!! :)

  19. Well, good...I'm glad they've figured out your insurance situation...I'm sure it will all work out fine with BCBS. I'm excited for your big day tomorrow, you are going to be so glad about your decision. You'll be sore and in a little pain for a good few days, but after that....each day DOES get better, just as you asked :) Try to sleep tonight, but if you can't, no biggie! They're gonna knock you out anyway! You'll have to tell me how much YOU remember. All I remember is they gave me some Versed while we were in the pre-op room, then they wheeled me out of the room, down around the nurses station - then I don't remember anything else! It was crazy!

You'll have a great day tomorrow, be sure to just take it easy for a while...your body will need to heal! Let me know how it goes :)

  20. You had your pre-op appt today, I believe? Now you just get through the weekend and your big day is Monday! Yay! Enjoy Saturday and Sunday, come Monday...you begin the new YOU! I'll think good thoughts for you on Monday...use your pain meds and take it easy next week! Good luck! Tommye

    PHOTOS! Down 96 lbs!

Wow! Thanks for sharing your photos :blushing: You have done SO well! You are definitely an inspiration to me, newly banded on June 1st... Great job, you look great AND congratulations on your success!!
  22. Great work with your band! Keep it up, it's great you are being so focused! Keep it up :blushing:
  23. I wish you luck tomorrow on your big day :) You will do great...Mine was Monday and I'm progressing nicely, I think. Everyone at Sky Ridge was so helpful and nice, they really know what they are doing. Make sure to take pain meds before the pain gets too bad, better to keep up with it. The pain for me is more of a soreness than sharp pain. Each day gets better and better, I'll think good thoughts for you tomorrow! Tommye

  24. That's exactly what it is...all the gas from the surgery. I just got home from my surgery that was performed yesterday. This AM in the hospital, I called in the nurse because of the left shoulder pain I was having...it is indeed, from the gas. She gave me a heating pad to put on while I was there and it helped to lessen the pain...I'd recommend heat. Since we don't have a heating pad here, I took our electric blanket from the bed and have it draped over my shoulder...feels much better! Hope you get some relief soon!
  25. How are the liquids going for you? My Dr. doesn't require a preop diet but I've been trying to eat a bit less...not working too well, but I'll have no choice come Monday.

Hope you have a great weekend, this is my last weekend as "this Tommye," come Monday, I will begin to become the "new Tommye." Yippee!
