Fran, I looked up the Spiru-Tein on the Vitaminshoppe website and it states it IS kosher. I'm gonna get me some. My surgery is next Tuesday and this Optifast the doctor uses is really expensive.

Shira, I can't find the Spirutein here in Texas. I hear good things about them. My doctor as me on OptiFast. It is powdered and not TOO bad, but I have learned a few tricks. With the Chocolate I add 8oz. of cooled coffee (decaf if you are restricted) and like 1/8th of a teaspoon of peppermint extract. I use a magic bullet to blend my shakes..I can't stand lumps and it makes it frothy. Then I pour it over ice...and I have a Peppermint Mocha Ice Coffee.
  3. I know it's tough. I'm on day 4 of Optifast. Yesterday the I was almost finished with my shake and felt like I could toss it. I was so hungery after work I ended up eating a cup of tomato soup with 5 ritz crackers. I felt really guilty, but I'm over it now. I'm scheduled for the 16th of Dec. and I understand all the nervousness.

Sounds great. I'm on pre op liquid diet with Optifast. All I have is Chocolate and Vanilla which are ok, but yesterday I had trouble getting the last 2 down. I think I'm getting board. 10 days til banding.
  5. Received my date Dec. 16. Started pre op diet Tues, but fell short tonight about 6pm. Had to have a cup of tomato soup a 5 crackers. Felt guilty, and remorseful, but I was really ill and tired. Got my second wind now and really excited about the date. I know it will be here before I know it.:tongue2:
  6. I am only telling those at work. I feel really care about me. I told my boss I was having a procedure done only because I had to let him know I was taking off. He ask "is it serious?" and I told him "not really" and he didn't ask anymore than that. It is no one elses business and I don't care to be part of the rumor mill. I will eventually let those who are genuinly interested but there are those I know who will judge and do. My surgery date is in 2 weeks, and I'm even waiting to tell my family to the weekend before the day to let them know. My husband doesn't think their input would be positive and I agree. I don't think keeping it to myself is lying not even lying by omission. It's my business and no one elses.:whatchutalkingabout
  7. I've been researching and soul searching for the past 4.5 years. I have finally found a doctor I really feel I trust and am very confident in, Dr. David Kim in Colleyville, TX. Bariatric Surgery ? Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas ? Dr. David Kim I have my date set, 12/16 and started my pre-op diet on Tuesday. I have to come clean though, after 3 days of the liquid diet, I cracked and had a cup of tomato soup with 5 Ritz crackers. I was tired and starving and really feeling ill, and even broth wasn't helping. I know I will do well, just had a bit of a set back.:whatchutalkingabout
