  1. Hi Meekie, I haven't checked this websight for while. How are things going with you? I am stalled out with a loss of 43lbs. I have had two fills but I have only lost two lbs in the last three weeks. Have you experienced this also?

    Terrible First Fill Experience!

That's the beauty of the band. This is long term. Don't beat yourself up over a small setback. Be patient, and hang in there.

Hang in there! I admire your ability to stay positive. Have you tried consulting a nutritionist? It could help you with choices. Good luck.

Has anyone had a fill yet?

I am nine days past my first fill and I believe it was not what I had hoped it to be. I feel NO restriction or anything really. No difference. I hear it takes some people a few times to get the right amount but I have to wait at least a month until my next appointment. Honestly, I am not looking forward to that experience for a few weeks. I am still slooooowly losing 1-2 pounds a week so I can't complain. I just wish I could speed things up a little without using all my willpower.:blushing: Has anyone else really slowed down?

What did you eat today, Hotties??

For breakfast I had about 1/2 of a vanilla Yoplait FF yogurt. I got hungry about two hours later and had a Diet Ice Tea Snapple. For lunch I had 2 oz. of canned chicken mixed with lowfat Mayo. Since I had my first fill yesterday I thought I should stop. Is everybody counting calories? I haven't been keeping a strict count. Should I?

Has anyone had a fill yet?

Hi- I was banded on Jaunary 8th and had my first fill yesterday. I am in Germany so I think things are a little different. In every blog I have read, no one had any pain. I did. It hurt when they pushed the needle through the skin and muscle but stopped after it entered the port. I hate to be graphic but that is the way it happened. After that it didn't hurt at all. The doctor put in 4.5 ml of Fluid. I could feel my stomach being squeezed. That was weird but it didn't hurt. After drinking the liquid to make sure that there was still room for food to go down I was done. The whole process took around 5 minutes. Mine was done under x-ray so the fluid I had to drink tasted bad. I was very hungry before the proceedure, but not after. I skipped lunched and just had a very small dinner of meat sauce and not the spagetti. I am too scard to eat until I feel restriction because I don't want the side effects. My weight loss has been a steady three pounds a week which is my goal. I am curious to see if the fill makes any difference. Please don't be worried. It is just one more thing we need to make this band work and to have long term SUCCESSFUL weight loss. I have no idea how to update my ticker:mad2:. Another victim of technology.

Anyone else dying on your post op diet?

  12. I haven't checked this site for a while. How are you doing? I have finally started losing weight and I feel good. It took me a week to ten days to recover and that suprised me a bit. I thought it would be sooner. Do you have any restriction? I don't. I have to be very careful about eating and it gets harder everyday. I hope the fill will take care of that on Monday. What are you eating these days? I only lasted 1 week on a liquid diet. I have been eating mostly protein and some cooked fruit and vegetables. So far I haven't eaten any carbs as part of a meal. I have "tasted" a good German pretzel and a pizza crust. But that's all. I look forward to eating normal meals, just smaller portions.

Anyone else dying on your post op diet?

Could someone tell me how to add a ticker to my info? I just can't seem to figure it out.:cursing: I have also started to loose weight slowly but surely. I am at about 2 lbs per week. Still no restrictions, only will power and small portions. I am hungry all the time and I do better when I am not home and able to stare at the food in my house. Some lbs gone are better than none althought I do believe I am in Bandster Hell, just maybe the upper level. Less than a week before my first fill. I have mixed feelings. I like being in control of my eating right now, but also look forward to the choice being taken away. I must now live with the decision I have made.

Anyone else dying on your post op diet?

I was banded on the 8th. After 10 days I HAD to start eating as was starving. I stopped losing after the first week and my weightloss was at a standstill for two weeks! Once I upped my calories to 1100 I finally started losing again. I think everybody is different and for me I couldn't lose until I got out of starvation mode. I feel no restriction at all and can eat anything. I am looking forward to my first fill. For now it is all will power and small portions. I have been cheating, but in a normal person's eating way. Not the old way. A samll taste is enough. I give credit to the folks who have been on liquids or mushies for weeks after surgery. I couldn't have done it. I have two weeks until my fill and the plan is to lose 2 pounds per week. Slow and steady is the healthy way. I hope I can continue. If not I know there is hope for me on 9 Feb (fill day)!

    Why Me...........

Hi! I got banded on the same day. The first week was hard but I was losing weight so it didn't matter. Now I feel great and could eat anything I wanted if I let myself(I don't). I am sticking to less than 1000 healthy calories a day and still haven't lost a pound in two weeks. My body is being very stubborn. I go for my first fill on the 12th of Ferbruary. Maybe that will make a difference. Keep me posted.
  16. MaureenJohnson

    just got banded ouch!

Have you lost any weight yet? I am holding steady at NO wieght loss since a week after my surgery Jan 8! I lost a total of 22lbs from start of pre-op diet and 1 week post-op.
  17. MaureenJohnson

    It's been one week..

I was banded on the 8th. One week later I couldn't stick to the liquids and had a scambled egg. It was great. I haven't had any problems with food. I had my stitches out two days ago and ever since I have had pain around my port site. It feels like a pulled muscle in the area surrounding the port. There is no relation to if or when I eat, so I am not sure if it has anyhting to do with starting on mushy(more solid foods) sooner. It is more than slight pain, but doesn't fit any of the other symptoms similar to infection. The incision is healing well and I haven't had a fever. Anyone else having this problem?

    Anyone getting banded in January

Thanks Sandy! I am taking your advice and am now drinking Cranberry juice (diluted with water). I was able to eat a 1/4 cup of real cream of chicken soup for dinner and breakfast this morning and I do feel better. The silver linning about all of this is I have lost 22 pound since the pre-op diet until this morning. I guess I should just be patient. I haven't even begun to use the band the way it was designed to work! Again, I appreciate you response. I live in Germany and I think some of the confusion in my follow up diet is due to a language/culture difference.

    Anyone getting banded in January

I was banded on the 8th. It's been 5 days and it is just now getting better. The trapped air is finally gone. I have not been able to eat (drink) more than a few tiny sips of water or soup at a time. Not sure that this is normal. For the last five days I haven't taken in more than 200-300 calories. It makes it hard to be energetic. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am going to see a Dietician tomorrow. I have also bee very thirsty with a dry mouth probably due to dehydration. It is very hard to resist the temptation to guzzle down ice water. I think that would be bad. I haven't made up my mind yet about this being the best thing for me. I know it has only been five days but from what I have read in this forum, I have not read about any of these post-op problems. I would appresciate any advice or other experiences.

    stress eating

I am on day 2 of my pre-op. I am supposed to have liquids and fresh fruits and vegetables. I have been making "soups" so far but I don't know how many calories I am getting. I am making it up as I go along. Wish me luck. Thanks Nillie for the response.:tongue_smilie:
  21. Hi Meekie,

I am from Heidelberg and I'm having my surgery on Jan. 8. Did you have Dr Weinar? He did not give me a detailed liquid diet so I am making one up on my own. Do you have any advice? Thanks!

  22. Hi Tamisu,

Its great to hear from someone in my timezone. What is your pre-op diet? I am supposed to start mine tomorrow and I was given VERY little specific guidance. The few people I know here who had weight loss surgery had the bypass. I think I am the guinea pig for this particular proceedure. What doctor are you going through? My doctor is Dr. Weinar in Frankfort. I get back to the states next Sunday and have the surgery on Thursday.

Heidelberg is amazing. We have been here here for 9 months. We live in St Leon.

If you don't mind sharing your liquid diet, I would really appreciate it! Good luck you you to!

    stress eating

I can relate! We are at my in-laws for the holidays and my surgery is three days after we return. I will have jet-lag and nerves to deal with. What is you pre-op diet? My German doctor's instructions are vague and I want to get a handle on this. my surgery date is Jan 8. I feel confident in my doctor, and I know several people who have gone through him, but I want ot know exactly what I should eat!

    Anyone getting banded in January

Hi all, I am getting banded in Germany and they have been a bit vague about the pre-op diet. Could someone give some examples of what hey have to do? My date is Jan. 8, so I think I should start right after Christmas. I am starting to feel a little anxious and excited. Not scared! I am ready.

    Anyone getting banded in January

I am a little nervous because we are going home for Christmas for the two weeks prior to my surgery. It all happens to be over Christmas and New Years and back in America. There are so many temptations that I hope I can keep the big picture in front of me and not go too crazy. I kind of wish I could have done it before going home!
